Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Where did you understand this from ? I mean it's given in Suzuki's owner's manaual for your bike or the oil manufacturer specified this on the bottle or package ?Originally posted by sjv0110 View Post
Any verbal understanding / advice you have with service guys won't count , they'll write in your service record that "customer declined oil and oil-filter change" - i.e sufficient to void warranty . Once you break warranty terms , it does not become alright again by make-up later on . They needn't tell you that warranty doesn't hold , unless you make a claim . Please read the owner's manual carefully and follow it fully .Originally posted by sjv0110 View PostLast edited by Pinaki; 07-31-2016, 12:24 PM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Most bikes rev faster in the initial gears. SF comes pre-configured to do the same. You'd cross 4.5K rpm in no time, and the bike would make a sound as if it was redlining already, I agree. As you go up the gears, the bike doesn't rev as fast making you think that only the 1st gear has a problem.Originally posted by sagarmantur View PostBy struggling i mean when i reach 5k rpm on first gear it feels like the bike is running out of juice and have up shift. no other gear this problem exists as i've tried going up to 8k rpm on all other gears for a very short interval(5-10secs at max). Once i get my first service done and break in is over will try again.
I understand that the sound is concerning, but there's nothing to worry about. And your bike is definitely not "struggling". It's all normal; and part of your break in is to stay within 4.5k rpm so don't even try going higher. Understand that the engine is new and has *never* been used.
As you use your bike more and more, you'll come to understand it better and it will continue to become smoother for you. Don't worry too much for now. Ride the bike as much as possible for a proper break in and observe your first service. That's all I'll say at this point.

Oh. I was in a hurry at times so have crossed 4.5k rpm quite a few times for short intervals. Hope it wont be a serious problem. Thanks for your inputs. Will see how it rides after break in period.Originally posted by aquibmastan View PostMost bikes rev faster in the initial gears. SF comes pre-configured to do the same. My bad. I was in a hurry at times so had to cross the limit to get to the place sooner. Has happened like 4-5 times.. Well whats done is done. Will try to maintain 4.5k rpm for the rest of the break in period. ThanksOriginally posted by RoyalIndian View Post5-10seconds is not short.
As for the oil, any Mineral engine oil is decent. You can switch to Motul or Shell full synthetic at 2nd service.
Also once again, read the manual. 4.5k RPM max for first 800kms (irrespective of which service it is) For the next 800kms till 1600 its 7k RPM max. So you can see the kind of mistake you are making, you havent completed 800kms and you are exceeding the RPM which is prescribed for 800-1600kms

Yes true, going by the manual. Hopefully I won't need to claim warranty. About Oil change Kms I had read on some forums here and as well with SVC reps. But that maybe applicable after your routine of services in your warranty period.Originally posted by Pinaki View PostWhere did you understand this from ? Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Brother , oil is a vital part of a bike's engine which only manufacturer has through knowledge of . Never vary manufacturer recommended oil grade and drain intervals anytime during the service life of the vehicle . Unless there is specific need for it , then too on the side of caution . Like shortening the drain interval by time or kilometers , rather than lengthening it . And never based on hearsay .Originally posted by sjv0110 View PostYes true, going by the manual. Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Hi All,
This is my first post here and I am keen to learn from experts here.

I bought my Gixxer SF on May10th which is my first bike, and have had two crashes, one minor, other kind of major
.
I got the bike fixed but the SVC has installed handlebar from normal Gixxer or some normal bike. As a result it no longer has that sports-bike kind of stance while riding.
My question is that are their any negatives for installing handlebars from different model. However I am planning
Another major question for fellow SF riders regarding the rear view mirrors- Are they useful at all ?? I can barely see any traffic coming from behind even when i adjust the opened mirrors. Initially i just kept the rear view mirror shut and have observed many other SF on road with shut mirrors.
Additionally when the mirrors are open they are at same height as mirrors of sedan/hatchback cars, which causes them to get hit while filtering the traffic.
Since i feel safer with functional mirrors, i have installed normal Gixxer mirrors on handlebars. How is rest of the group handling the rear view mirrors??
I can post pictures if anyone is curious to see handlebar and rear-view mirrors setup on my bike.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Claim warranty for what exactly? I did go to the SVC. They opened up the calipers and cleaned the pads. Sound went away. The rotor doesnt seem to be bent. The sound was indeed coming because of Grime and dirt lodged inside there.Originally posted by Saravanan_n View PostGet it to service center and claim warranty ,if you continue using it will cause glazing of the disc brake rotors and will not go easilyLast edited by RoyalIndian; 08-03-2016, 10:28 PM.
