My Suzuki Gixxer SF went for service a week ago. Apparently they use some sort of "polish" to polish the bike and the front disk has been polished too; which translates to poor braking at the front. How do I fix this. 1 week has passed and I can feel the disk slip under hard braking.

Apple auto, in Bangalore, is quite poor at servicing. Any others around Bannarghatta Road?

    Thanks

It will go away after around 100-120 kms, and the brakes will start working normally. Ask the service center not to polish the disk next time you go in for service.
Also try washing the disc with harsh detergent like Vim bar(used in most Indian kitchens to wash utensils) it will wash away the grease from the disc, then all you have to do is ride and wait for the grease from brake pads to go away. That will happen gradually as you ride the bike (heat produced from braking makes the brake pad slowly lose the grease).
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

      Hey Guys,

Got my first bike Gixxer SF Red (Dual Disc) yesterday. Fortunately it happens to be my birthday. Any tips and tricks to use the bike until the break-in period.

      Thanks and Regards,

Happy birthday (belated). Can you post some pictures? Red SF would be an absolute delight to the eyes. For run-in, just follow the Owners Manual, that would be enough. Suzuki has a dedicated section for it.

          Hi Everyone,

Just finding some help. I'm getting some kind of burning smell on engine, I'm not sure whether the spark plug has worn out. Just one month ago I finished 2nd service. Any suggestions?

Spark plug wont worn out in 5 months, It ll last at least 6K(as per manual 8K). If u feel like that, remove the spark plug by yourself and check it. Check the user manual how to remove the spark plug.

Burning 🔥 smell is normal in gixxer when you have crossed 70-80 km/h for 4-5 kms, i think it is engine oil burning smell i have discussed same with mechanic says it is normal smell nothing to bother about... Personally i love this smell, it gives confidence that i am enjoying fast enough (i always go 100+ in weekend city sprinting 😊😊&#128522...

I got my SF delivered yesterday. It was rainy day and I took my bike to office directly after delivery. I too sensed the burning smell after just a 10 km drive from showroom. Is this commom issue or anything need to be corrected. I was riding below 4k rpm.

                    Hi everyone,

Its weird to me that some of you guys are talking about burning smell. Personally I have driven my bike above 8000kms at various constant speed ranging from 45-100kms/hr. But I have never smelled such burning things.. 😕

                      Hello everyone.

I recenly saw that my bike chain looked too dried off and brown patches were seen as if they were rusted. Also the gear shifting was a bit harder. so immediately I went to a popular automobile shop nearby and bought a chain cleaner and chain lube spray of AutoFOX. Now after applying it the chain looks wet brown patched gone and the gear shifting has also improved to much smoother. Has anyone used this AutoFOX brand.? it it ok.?? Does this impact my chain warranty??? I choose this because for me Motul brand was quite highly priced at around 300rs. 😉

Congrats... did you get the one with rear disc variant? how is the braking with the rear disc variant?

Last month I have purchased the same product because of the same reason you have mentioned at the end. My chain was in good condition though the bike was 5 years old. Previous lubricant was old engine oil from local mechanic shop. I feel some good difference in ride comfortability. And the chain is looking neat. I have paid RS 130 for the bottle.

                            Congrats on your new ride!

Even I faced the same in the initial period, until I hit some 100 km's on the odo after which it was gone.
I think its common, nothing to worry.

                            Happy riding!!
