  • Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread

Its been 25 days since I bought Gixxer SF FI. So far its been a great riding this tiny beast(have completed around 670KM) and yet to go for First service.

    Good things:

    • Good throttle response.
    • Comfortable riding posture i.e upright
    • Acceleration is decent.
    • Its completely fun to ride.
    • No major niggle found so far.

I wouldn't say Bad but kind of niggles:
    • Hard Gear shifts. Though after 500KMs it feels better but still it is harder than any other bike in this range.
    • While moving from 3rd to 4th gear, I don't get complete feel that it has shifted.
    • Rear disk brake is very weak. Its probably just 10%. Asked SVK and they said nothing can be done as its disk.
    • Air Suspension sound. This kind of bothers me, while going on a speed breaker there is air pressure sound, it sometimes feels like its squeaking. I asked the SVC and they told its normal in any mono suspension bike but I never heard on any other bike to this extent.
    • Engine is louder than it was when bought, maybe due to engine oil. Hope it reduces after 1st service.
    • RVM tends to get loose quite often. Maybe I should switch to normal one on the handle bar.

In spite of niggles it is so much fun to ride this tiny beast. Hope to make many more miles with the same fun factor on this.

I have the Double Disc Carburettor variant. I agree with the rear brake. It feels like a drum. I just wrote to Suzuki an hour ago with a comprehensive feedback on the Gixxer SF and I covered the headlamp and the rear disc brake issues. Air Suspension sound? I don't have it at all. The gixxer engine I feel evolves a lot until the run in period is over depending on how you ride. Mine is just 980 kms on ODO and I feel its still smoothing out each passing day. 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th was real hard for me for the first 600 kms. Make sure you make good use of those gears by shifting early (stick to 4.5k RPM) and it will get smooth eventually (future oil changes will contribute to that too).

Forgot the headlamp which is also weak but I don't travel much in the night. Suspension sound I'll try to take a video and post. Have to agree it gets smoother day by day.
Have you done your 1st service ? If so tell me what are the things to check and keep in mind.

Is thete any difference in the pillion seat height of Gixxer and Gixxer SF?!
            .
Can my mom (age-45) able to sit in the back seat of Gixxer SF with both legs on one side (wearing saree) if i attach a side foot rest?!
            .
I think once if she is sested it would be managable, but height matters a lot because it will be tough for aged people to climb upto the seat..

If Mom is fit enough she will easily climb up to it but for one sided seating in traffic is not at all comfortable. For short run or you have not any option then it is fine.

Hey guys. I recently purchased a Gixxer SF Fi from Aryan Suzuki in Domlur (blr). Let's just say I had a less than savoury experience with them. How do I go about writing to the higher ups at Suzuki? I cannot find any link or reference to any complaint box or Forum...

Those emails go directly to the Showroom. I'll only get a call back from them. I'm looking to write to the higher ups.

Just left my gixxy in svc. They are using idemitsu semi synthetic for 1st service. Motul mineral oil is nowhere to be found. Enquired 3 SVCs in Chennai and none stock motul.

If you seriously looking for Motul Mineral oil for your gixxy, then buy Motul 3000 (three thousand) 15w50 from outside and ask to them pour that in front of you.

Call them immediately and tell them that you will get them the oil yourself, preferebly oil and filter change can be done after the service is complete and just while you go to collect your bike tell them to replace oil and filter in your presence.

Correct oil quantity is 950ml with filter change, be stubborn if they try to convince you for 1L as that is the case here in Bangalore. Take back the remaining 50 ml can be used for top up in future, Oil costs ~305.

                            Cheers.

Thanks for tip bro but it's already late. I went there an hour ago and it was already serviced. They asked me to collect at 4 pm after billing.

I'm thinking of changing oil myself later next week. I saw a listing of motul Suzuki in eBay for 400₹ something is it ok to buy that at higher price.

It would be absolute waste of money to drain out the freshly poured oil in a weeks time. You could run on the same Idemitsu oil for about 2K Kms and then replace it. It's absolutely fine to run on semi synthetic oil. But yes it may extend a bit more Kms required to complete the run-in of the engine but it's fine.

400 bucks is too expensive for Motul by Suzuki oil. U may alternatively use Motul 3000 15w50 Mineral oil if the need be.

                                Cheers
