Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
So have been riding the D390 and the RC200 back to back. I know the Gixxer SF heats a bit when on the move (due to it being air-cooled and the fairing blocking side winds).. but much much lesser than the heat generated from the KTMs, even for short distances..!! (I think coz they were new bikes, but still) Seriously we should never complain abt the SF's heating. It's much more bearable.!

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
UPDATE: So finally got my bike after 1 week! The issue of the slight white smoke was because of inlet valve issue. They replaced the parts under warranty. Gasket, valves, piston pins etc. So didn't need to pay anything. Anyways had they had asked I would have fired them.
So basically, I have a 4 month old, 3000 KMS run bike, with a new engine ! Have to do run in period again :/

I see no missing plug there!Originally posted by rennyg View PostGuys, can someone help me with the name of this missing "plug" on the Gixxer SF? I'm attaching pics. I have lost it on the left handlebar and I have no clue what to tell the the dealer guys when I call them to enquire about a spare
If you're talking about the hole on the left handlebar near the choke area, it is for the RVM, if you want to mount it on the handlebar[emoji2] .

SF has RVMs on the fairing, so these holes are open to the environment all time - meaning the interiors will rust. That and also, for better aesthetics, they provide a rubber/plastic plug there. It is not profitable for a company to manufacture 2 parts when one can do the job - so SF gets a plug. Should be available in the two wheeler spare shops.Originally posted by Biker23 View PostI see no missing plug there!

According to the parts Catalogue,
It is part no 09250-09001-000 CAP (OD:14).Last edited by ashwanth.r; 02-06-2017, 10:51 PM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
This is a great thing, Suzuki uses the same lever holders of gixxer on the sf too, so you can use the mirrors on the handle bar.
Mirrors on fairing are not reliable on long tours.
On RS200 bajaj uses different clutch and brake lever holders than using the same one of 200ns which have mirror holders.
Now i need to spend 250 rupees for changing those levers. 😕

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Question for the Mumbai guys,
Have any of you got your headlight bulbs changed? Where?
I asked the service center guys if they can replace the bulb if I get one and was refused. I am not very good at the DIY stuff, so don't wanna mess up something which is in working condition. Also the Manual I received is for the non faired version, so the directions aren't much help
Any help towards a how to video or a trusted mechanic would be great
Thanks

Finally the bike seems to give expected mileage now after carb tuning.Originally posted by agmtpd View PostVisited the SVC today.
The issued turned out to be what I guessed.
The fuel was too rich through the carb.
They fine tuned the carb and also adjusted the ideal rpm of the bike.
And that did wonders as it feels like a whole lot different bike now.
The throttle response has improved a lot , gear shifts are smoother and more power in higher gears.
Will update the thread with mileage figures soon
I feel like riding the bike even more after tuning.
I was missing a whole lot of fun that the bike has to offer until now.
Thanks to all members here for your responses.
The figure now is 43kmpl with same riding style as before.
So the word is get your carb tuned after getting a new bike in front of you.
The svc guy told me sometimes carb dont come tuned from factory.
I have decided to leave the scratches for now as they are not noticeable for someone who doesnt know about them.Originally posted by icarious View PostI dropped the bike on the right side stand still too while getting it down from the centre stand on a tilted side of a road
. Luckily I didn't have any scratches on the fairing
except a not so noticeable tiny sport on the exhaust. The right indicator came out which I could snap into position easily. My advice? Get a sticker job done for now to hide the scratch. If you get a few more, then you can consider replacing the fairings.
Will get the fairing replaced after a few months.
Stickers are not my thing.
Will either get the whole fairing vinyl wrapped in future or just change the fairing altogether.
Thanks for the inputs.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
This is my first post at xbhp and do treat me as a novice. What I've closely noticed is in Gixxer Sf the aluminum exhaust cap losses its shine and eventually the upper portion of the aluminum cap gets scraped as the shoe sole of pillion is in contact with the cap.So is there any way to restore in such cases or any aluminum polish.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Anyone from delhi who has installed clip ons on his bike?
I would love to take his bike for a spin if possible
I am leaning more towards getting that committed riding posture.
Please dont reply with "oh you should have gone with r15 or cbr" crap.
I know i should have and I am regretting it just because of the aggressive posture they offer.
P.S. I still love my bike
