Gear shifts are very amooth now,

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Got my OptimusPrime guys
, very happy with the bike.
Its running smoothly even though i just reached 50km now, still i can say the bike is feeling smooth, just the Neutral gear shifting is a bit issue, i think it'll be fine after few more Km run or by first service.
would like to know whats best time for changing oil for the first time.
Shall i wait till the first service or go before the service itself, (any particular km in mind.)
And for Run in here are the points i have noticed,
keep RPM max to 4.5K to 5.0k
max speed anywhere 65kmph to 75kmph max
max 5k RPM till first 800Km then 7.5k RPM till 1600Km
please share if you guys have nay other points in mind,
this is my first run in period for any bike. not much known to these points before so.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Congrats!! I'd recommend changing the oil (to mineral oil only) and oil filter at 170-200 Kms mark on the odo. Ensure you get a job card created for the oil and filter change and an invoice stating the same is received at the end.Originally posted by Veeru Kallapur View PostGot my OptimusPrime guys

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Thanks Bro, but the service people said to do the oil change on the day of first service itself, i.e 1000km or 45 days (whichever is earlier). isn't this odd which service people are saying. Even i asked again like when to do first oil change.Originally posted by Srvn View PostCongrats!! I'd recommend changing the oil (to mineral oil only) and oil filter at 170-200 Kms mark on the odo. Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
It's at your discretion. If you want an oil change you could get it done (helps in better break-in) Manual does not recommend it anywhere nor does service mechanics. I have got it done, few other people have too.Originally posted by Veeru Kallapur View PostThanks Bro, but the service people said to do the oil change on the day of first service itself, i.e 1000km or 45 days (whichever is earlier). isn't this odd which service people are saying. It's totally upto you.
There is nothing odd, they are just following routine protocol.

Thanks bro will ask for oil change before 200km.Originally posted by Srvn View PostIt's at your discretion. If you want an oil change you could get it done (helps in better break-in) Manual does not recommend it anywhere nor does service mechanics. I have got it done, few other people have too.

And what about further oil changes.? once after 200km i can directly do in first service or its good to do in-between again before 800km or say 1000km.Last edited by Veeru Kallapur; 02-13-2017, 08:07 PM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
There are a few other points I have mentioned on my original reply please take a note of it too. And changing oil is universal to all motorcycles irrespective of being FI or Carb.Originally posted by Veeru Kallapur View PostThanks bro will ask for oil change before 200km.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Yes after the oil change at ~200kms you could get the oil changed again at 1000Kms @ first service. Remember during the run-in period to keep varying the rpm and shift gears frequently (extremely significant for proper run-in) and avoid running at constant speeds and rpm for prolonged durations. May be post 400-500 Kms on the odo you could make small bursts of 60s-70s speeds by gradually increasing the speed and use engine braking now and then.Originally posted by Veeru Kallapur View PostAnd what about further oil changes.? once after 200km i can directly do in first service or its good to do in-between again before 800km or say 1000km.
