As long as the vibes are not too much, you are good, Idemitsu tends to feel harsher around >4k rpm nevertheless your engine is still breaking-in so I suggest not to worry much and follow the procedures described in the manual for run-in w.r.t the rpm kilometers.

Guys, as yesterday the topic was about mileage......

      I want to know what's Gixxer's and Hornet's mileage

If same person rides both vehicles, in similar roads, similar riding conditions, styles and speeds, which is the winner between the two?

        Guys

Hi and hello everybody after a long time I am replying in this thread. And I would like to give some info regarding my Gixxer SF Blue Moto GP edition clocked 16590km.

        1. Mileage I get in city traffic + highway rides (usually ride in 60-65 speed occasionally overtake fellow riders reaching 75-80 speed)= Above 53km/Litre.

        2. Bikes performance is really as gud as new. I use shell advance 10W40 semi synthetic engine oil (399Rs) along with Bosch oil filter. Every 3500-4000KM.

        3. Also tried shell ultra full synthetic. But was totally disappointed with its experience. Engine became rough and grunty.. Hence changed the oil back to shell semi symthetic after 500km.

        4. All electrical components are working fine.

        5. Braking is as usual I did not notice any lag in brakes.

        6. went for a ride from chennai to bangalore for the 2017 new year celebration with a pillion, maintaining speeds above 90km/hr. Bike performed awesome as usual. But mileage returned was 38km/ltr.

Special note: After changing the oil to shell Advance semi synthetic 10W40. The exhaust sound changed dramatically and more peppier loved it. Along with smooth gear shift and engine.

Hi guys, need your assistance. Some months back i added extra cushion in my seat that made the bike alittle bit taller than usual .Lately i am getting numbness in my hands while driving my gixxer sf. Is it because of hand grip or the height of the seat? Pls give me your suggestions guys..

If the height is increased too much, means you will lean more towards the front, so more weight on your arm, that 'may be' the issue.

Yeah I also feel something is wrong with carb settings maybe the fuel getting into the engine is too rich.
I also get burning smell after riding for a while but that should be due to oil getting burnt or maybe not?
                Visited the SVC today.
The issued turned out to be what I guessed.
The fuel was too rich through the carb.
They fine tuned the carb and also adjusted the ideal rpm of the bike.
And that did wonders as it feels like a whole lot different bike now.
The throttle response has improved a lot , gear shifts are smoother and more power in higher gears.
Will update the thread with mileage figures soon
I feel like riding the bike even more after tuning.
I was missing a whole lot of fun that the bike has to offer until now.
Thanks to all members here for your responses.

Try placing your fists aligned to the outer parts of grip.
That helps me a lot and takes away most of the strain from wrists.
Also try sitting a little back that eliminates any kind of stress from my wrist.
Of course results will vary according to your height and length of your arms.

Hi all. So this query goes to fellow tourers and long distance travellers riding the Gixxer. How often do you take a break and for how long, to keep the Gixxer engine stress free? What is the optimal cruising speed and RPM for this bike for highway rides? I am about to start highway rides soon.

P.S - I will post a detailed ownership review pretty soon when I reach the 1500 kms mark for people looking to buy this bike.

I have done 230+ kms non stop at speeds between 90-95km on highways on my blue sf. It can handle constant high speeds really very well. Above 95+ kms I start feeling little stress on my engine. I would say its the best sports tourer. But not a gud bike for tours along with a pillion. Hope this helps u a bit. 😉

Yes i tried it .it works for sometime. But when i go for a long drive, it pains a lot. I think i ll reduce the rider seat height by removing the cushion underneath n check it out. Again thanks a lot for your suggestion

Dropped my bike today morning from stand still position
Minor scratches on right side of fairing.
How do you guys cope up with scratches?
Leave them how it is or get it buffed out or replace the fairings?

I cant stand any kind of scratches on my ride sadly
Should I get the fairing replaced just because of scratches or let the bike carry the scars of glory?

Put a sticker on it! Even I've dropped my bike at stand still and I suprisingly didnt find a single scratch probably because my mirror was tight and the passenger footpeg saved the rear *phew*

I am planning a nice long Mumbai-Nainital tour aboard my Gixxer SF next month (February). Although my riding will be in the daytime itself, I want to upgrade the lighting of my bike for the evening and night spins.
I need suggestions for the following :-
                              1) Headlamp Bulb upgrade - I've read through some of the posts here which suggested the Philips Xtreme vision series of lamps, but am still unclear of which exact model would be a direct fit to the Gixx.
                              2) Additional LED/Projector lamps I can consider mounting for highway use.

I'd like to know about any side-effects like blackening of the reflector , excessive battery drain etc. I do NOT wish to tamper with the reflector or battery.
I shall keep the said upgrades/modifications installed even after the tour as the night-visibility with the existing setup is considerably low for my daily highway commutes.
Wherever possible, please do post pictures of your setups and provide me with online links for purchase (or dealers in Mumbai) from where I can procure these upgrades/get them installed.
Lastly, if anyone wants to tag along with me from Mumbai-Delhi, I'm doing Mumbai-Udaipur on the 12th and Udaipur-Delhi on the 13th of February! Responsible riders are welcome!
                              Thanks in advance!
I'd really like some suggestions regarding a headlamp upgrade, folks. Please do let me know of what options I could consider.

Philips xtremevision H4 bulbs fit, I used them for more than 8 months. Didn't encounter any problems, though I am not sure now since the bike is sold. They are better than the stock lamps.

Remember their power rating is 60/55w stock bulbs are 35w. Here is the link
                                Philips 12342XVPB1 H4 X-treme Vision Plus Car Headlight Bulb (12V, 60/55W) https://www.amazon.in/dp/B010VNEH86/..._y0zKyb4QP7480

You could get spot lamps/Cree LEDs and mount them for better night time visibility.
