I read each and every review, saw each and every video realted to the bike and made my mind to buy gixxer sf. My choice was always the black version with red. The bike is super smooth on highways and really flickable and torquey in narrow streets. Didnt get to explore it really well. Instrument cluster is really superb. It has everything-3 types of trip meters, gear indicator, rpm indicator...and it is visible in the brightest day also..
Delievery was good, got a discount of about 5000 rupees and a benetton watch worth 4999 rupees through gold rush offer. And suzuki logo key chain.
Overall build quality is not top notch but good. Ground clearence is low but the bike bottomed out on just one speed breaker so far and that one was really sharp and badly constructed.
Bike looks pretty big in real life. Gixxer sf is a stare magnet, people get there eyes glued to the bike.
One problem or u can say a glitch that i think for now is engine heating, it heats up pretty quickly and pretty much. But that wont be a deal breaker.
I didnt go for the abs one coz i test ride the normal version and found the brakes to be pretty good and im not a really fast rider also.
Looking forward to munch more miles and to go on long journeys. Will post more as i ride more.
If you have been through the posts out here thoroughly you will see the bike heats when it is new. It goes after 1k kms and 1-2 oil changes. Do remember to run in your bike properly as per the manual (try to adhere to the RPM limits, don't rev your bike hard and use engine braking and up and down-shifting) and the engine / the tyres and the brakes will serve you like butter. As for the build quality, I agree that it may not be 'Superbly' built like the FZ or the older Unicorns but its still fine. Ride safe and enjoy your die

First of all, Congratz on the Bike! Hope you have a great time with it and make sure you read the Owner's manual thoroughly.

If you think the engine heating is a problem then you havent read each and every review.

I believe you are unaware of the purpose of ABS. I would recommend you read up an article on that.

I am very interested to know what it is that made you say that the Build quality is not top notch. Elaborate please

        @MotoBlizzard

Although the question was meant for aadesh_aach let me give some personal inputs from my end as I have mentioned it before too. The overall fit and finish / build quality of the metallic parts and engine refinement is undoubtedly top notch. But the plastic and fibre bits are not of premium quality as you expect from a Japanese brand (They usually have much better quality assurance thresholds than the likes of Bajaj). For instance, the instrument cluster / switches. Closely examine the engine kill switch -- it has those rough edges and doesn't feel premium. The right side of the lower fairing of my bike right behind the 'SUZUKI' text got a minor 'crack' and I don't know how it got there. I never dropped / crashed or scraped my bike in anyway.

Fast forward this video to 4:38 and you will know what I am talking about. I know I am a bit overly excessively picky to point these out but that's me . That being said, there are a lot of positive points I will give to Suzuki. I am not what one might call a very 'Mature' and 'Experienced' rider in terms of clocked KMS. My odo reads 7100 KMS today and that is what you can consider my overall experience. The reason I mention this is cause my bike took three heavy water-logged potholes during the monsoon. May be cause of my lack of experience, but those were blind ones full of water and really deep. I hit all three them in speeds above 30 kmph and one of them I hit with a pillion. The Alloys didn't give up at all, something I consider a real nightmare and I pray not to experience and neither did the front forks. So I will give that to Suzuki. So its just the plastic bits that Suzuki need to better a little more and we are good to go. But overall I am really satisfied with the bike. Specially cause of its low maintenance (as I recently said I take it to the SVC more than it calls for), low cost -- very cheap on pocket for someone like me, availability of spares (didn't need any as of now) and the community behind Gixxer out here on xBHP .

(P.S. -- I never did an ownership review. I attempted to do it once but for some reason it didn't get posted and we all know what happens when you hit 'back' on the browser. It was really a long one, so I got lazy not to type all over again. I might consider posting one soon)

I would go to the service center

            1. Fit and finish are definitely not good, not even close to good. But quality of plastic and fibre bits is not premium? Check the image below. The Red Circle is the result of a lowside crash at 70kmph. Its barely cracked let alone break. Thats enough quality assurance for me. The crack line (Yellow Circle) around the Indicator port is from a different incident which I will explain later. The fairing is definitely not on par with the quality grade of R15's fairing but its much cheaper and readily available. Also production costs of plastic parts have to be balanced with the rest of the components as well.

            2. Why do you want refinement in a kill switch button? The button is bigger and more red then any other bike has in this segment! As for the crack in your lower panel, that definitely looks like an isolated incident. Even merely dropping the bike will not cause that as that panel is far from coming in contact with the ground nor will a low side crash like the one I had will cause that. It seems like that panel might have had a direct impact from something. You should get it checked out

Thanxx MotoBlizzard. I know that engine heating is a problem till 1st service as i read all the reviews here, i didnt mean to say that its a problem, just said it through a first time bike owners perspective.

Talking about ABS i know its a really important and useful thing to have in ur bike in case of hard braking. What i meant is that im not a really fast rider so the normal discs serve me the purpose too.

Coming to build quality i was just nit-picking, some panel gaps and a screws here and there were what i meant to say.😆😆

Yes i have used it on my gixxy which is bs4 model and after two weeks i can see vapour like thing and small burnt worn out like thing in the reflector, so its my suggestion to be with 35 w stock bulb as it wont effect the reflector.
I'm thinking of fixing spot lights on the front with a switch which will fix the lighting problem which is required.

Need your help guys, getting a squeaking sound everytime when braking from the rear drum brake. Mine is the older gixxer SF. Any advice on the problem and possible fix?

The problem is contaminated lining (with dust, water or rust as the liner is made of iron/steel). Fix is cleaning the lining (best thing to use is brake cleaner) and rubbing the brake shoes lightly with a sand paper to remove the shine/glaze. The lining too can be *lightly* sanded to remove rust that is sticking to it. Shoes to be replaced if worn - job can be done at a good local mechanic.
