    Hello friends,

I got my black bird (sf rear disc) home in October 2016. Didn't get much opportunity to ride it, except to office sometime which is very near. Could clock just 2200 kms in almost an year. Though all services are done in time.
Took a 'long leap' forward during recent Dussehra vacations and rode to home town (300 kms each side). Here are my observations:
    1. As expected and read about it in other reviews, it impressed a lot.

    2. Its mere 155 cc notwithstanding, it is super peppy and roaring on open roads. Though with just 2200 kms on odo, my engine was very new and yet not fully smooth, but its lower and mid ranges are superb. I am sure, with few thousands kms more done, it will become further smooth.

1st time I touched triple digits on Lucknow-Agra e-way, and it reached there easily at 7k rpm with an adult pillion. Though I didn't ride in triple digits, kept it up to 80-90 mostly.

    3. Its perfectly at ease and happy doing this speed for long hrs....May be whole extended day!

    4. Engine heating feeling on legs was not felt, compared to city riding.

    5. A superb handler on highway. Also balancing it on very slow speed in traffic is also very easy.

    6. Full Fairing helps in reducing impact of wind blast, but still, sometimes felt strong impacts of wind, sply while trailing a vehicle!!

    7. Vibrations!.well none at all. Yes, absolutely nil, even at 100 kmph!

    8. Suspension is still harder but may be for me (not for others!). May be it has more to do with my ultra-sensitive lower back. Will get it the monoshock adjusted on softer side.

    9. Return ride was solo, and even more fun . Rode mostly in 75-85 kmph speed.

Again tested its top end on same expressway which is 6 lane with almost nil traffic. As expected, rise to go past 100 was slower and harder, but still it climbed to 111 kmps at near 8K rpm. Though it was for only 2-3 seconds, I immediately came down to comfortable and safe speed (for both me and bike) of 80-85.

But, this gives an indication of the fire power of this small beauty. Though I am not going to ride it in triple digits ever.

    10. Kitna deti hai !! well exactly not known to me. My observation is that if ridden upto 80 speed, it should give in 40-45 kmpl range on highways, BUT, consistently riding above 80, FE is bound to come down. I could feel it.

All in all, a superb bike in 150 cc (Rs. 1lakh category) which is smooth, reliable and fun to ride.

Guys .. am I the only one who is facing very hard gear shift problem? I asked the SVC and they told me that it's normal for new bikes and it'll get set after long run... But my buddies who bought new bikes from other brands did not face with these issues ..

Yes, this is quite 'normal' for gixxer when it is new. Happened with me too, but it improves with every service in early days, and shoudn't be a problem after 2-3 services.

Recommended oil grade is mentioned in your owners manual.

The gearbox has innate stiff shifting issue. Nothing can be done about it. Wear shoes that are hard and improve your shifting technique.

Compare your gixxer's issues with other Gixxers to ascertain whether it really is an issue or not

What is the colour temperature of the stock headlamp? I am planning to upgrade to LED headlamp as the stock one is really useless for night rides. I don't want to use the 55/60W halogen as suggested by others here and stick to LED (I would be considering HID / Projectors but I heard LEDs are doing a better job and don't need modifications). I don't like those absolute white / blue tinted white shades so it would be best if I could have the LED temperature as close to the amber / yellowish stock as possible (call me retro :P ).

Are there any LED pilot bulbs available of the same temperature? I have seen people who installed white LED pilot bulbs with the stock headlamp and I find it to be a mismatch. The pilot bulb along with the headlamp completes a total set and to me its best to maintain consistency of the colour.

It would be great if someone suggests me some LED indicators and number plate bulbs too. I am considering to go for a total LED conversion -- which would keep the battery / stator stress free to add new electricals like the bolt charger and auxiliary LED lamps for touring.

Horn upgrade Suggestions? I don't want to sound like a puny scooty no more. I have shortlisted the Royal Enfield Thunderbird twin horns.

Guys recently went for a breakfast ride. Was running late so was riding at 90-100 on expressway with slight hard accelerations. Hardly it was 10 to 15 kms. Upon reaching there, all came towards my bike asking why is it smelling so much, is something on fire?! It was this foul burning smell, like rubber is on fire or something! None of the other bikes had this issue. I even went near their bikes and there was no smell at all! (since it had rained for sometime before the scheduled meeting point, all were riding hard to reach on time). It completely dampened my mood, and I was hesitant to ride at those speeds. This never happened with my RTR160. Can someone please help out?! Anyone else faced this issue?!

The smell comes from Cylinder head cover. Its more prominent when you ride in the rain. I was told that this is fine and nothing to worry about. If something does go wrong you are fully covered by the warranty. (Although its not a foul smell, I quite like it xD)

Still get it checked once and keep pestering teh SVC

Guys, today it was a miserable day for me 😞😞.. while I was on my way home.. in the main road .. one Innova braked suddenly.. and before I hit the brakes, my bike hit his rear bumper.. nothing happened to his vehicle.. but my front mud guard got tore a little bit on the right side.. I asked the SVC guys for the replacement of another mud guard and they told me that the cost estimate would be around Rs.700 to Rs.800... is there any other place where I can get it at a cheaper price or is there any other alternative to this???

And guys .. my friend owns a 2016 model Suzuki Gixxer SF Black .. it's been 1.5 years since he bought the vehicle.. recently he was facing with engine oil leakage issues.. when he enquired the SVC guys, they told him that it could be due to engine gasket seal.. but during the recent service that was fixed by them.. for some days there was no problem... But now again it starts to leak .. what could be the actual issue ?? Is there anything else apart from this which has to be looked at ??

Cost estimate? This is not a repair job, you are not getting the fender repainted to get an estimate. Tell them to give the exact price of front fender. I had mine replaced a couple of months back for around 650. Prices have increased slightly after GST.

Also are you serious about procuring the part for cheaper from else where? Who do you think will sell you a brand new GSX150 Front fender at a lower price than the dealership?

                                You have 3 alternate options:

                                1. Claim insurance
                                2. Get a black spray paint and spray over the scratch if its bothering you
                                3. If its not causing any hindrance to the front wheel then leave it as it is and deal with it
