Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Yes I have seen SP Edition. I didn't actually like the seat cover of that but I can change it anytime which is not a big deal.Originally posted by wolverine20 View Post

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
There is not much difference between them, identical specs. Just little increase in mileage and throttle response as per claim. Though in real life I guess one can't feel the difference. Go with your color choise I would say.Originally posted by n1tesh View PostYes I have seen SP Edition. Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
fi version is worth it if you consider the stakes on the long run. Besides that fi is new tech. Question is would you rather have an old tech to save a couple of grands. I dont think so.Originally posted by n1tesh View Post...But is Fi really worth it over the Carb version?
p.s: i have the carb version

I was asked whether it's worth it to compromise on color choice and not not coz of the slight price difference.Originally posted by shailendra.k View Postfi version is worth it if you consider the stakes on the long run. FI is available in only Blue color.
And I find SP Edition (Matt Grey) slight better over that

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Fi you'll get slightly better acceleration, top end, and better fuel economy. It's upto you, coz maintenance costs are bit more. I think every 7000km there's Fi unit cleaning and stuff. Not sure.
I feel 8k more gets you a slightly better bike. I don't think it justifies the cost though. They should have offered more power from the Fi model.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Anyone who's using or used motul 300v 10w40 fully synthetic engine oil, please respond to this post asap.
Currently am using 300v after running 6k kms.
facing weak pickup after running 900kms at 3rd to 5th gear and engine heating issue and a lil grunt sounds. Any one with similar issue or 300v user?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
It has been ~1600kms since my first service. Since the past few days (~300kms) I have been noticing a definite increase in engine vibes felt at the handlebars when the bike is somewhere between 55-70kmph in the 5th gear (haven't noted the RPM). Since my bike is mostly ridden on the highway at 70-85ish speeds, I haven't got much of an opportunity to check the same RPM on a lower gear, but this does occur in the lower gears too. After returning from work today (a 1.5 hour commute spread over 41 kilometers), I let the engine cool for half an hour, then again rode the bike for about a kilometre and placed the bike on the center stand and resting on the front wheel, and this is what I see.

Definitely doesn't seem normal. Any opinions? Is this a normal sight with Idemitsu oil?

It has oil deficit
It has nothing to do with motul or idemitsu but for the record idemitsu does tend to heat up a bit more
And look out for burning smell or extreme heating
And
The problem will not arise after riding roughly for an hour or so or won't eat through that much engine oil in a short span
So either you had low engine oil from the beginning or you might want to look for leakage

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Joel, did you wait 2-3 minutes after turning off the engine before checking oil level?
And a couple of bikers say you shouldn't check the oil with the bike on center stand. You'll need to put it on the side stand and tilt it straight.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
My bike is 2.5 months old ( around 670 kms on odo). Recently since yesterday I am hearing faint squeaky noises from the Rear Wheel (Rear Disk Variant BTW) in low to medium speeds. It happens when the wheel rotates to a certain point as I checked by putting it on main stand. The noise goes for some 4-5 secs if I press the rear disk hard. I wonder if the brake shoe is touching the disk. Did anyone else face the same? Would they charge me to fix this if I took it to the SVC or such adjustments are covered under warranty?Suzuki Gixxer SF Rear Disc + Carburettor Red (28th October, 2016-Present),

Yes, your pads are grazing the disc. Ride for a couple of kilometers without using the read brake and check whether the disc is heating up.Originally posted by icarious View PostMy bike is 2.5 months old ( around 670 kms on odo). In your first service the SVC must have changed the oil filter as per instructions. However what they fail to do is pour 950ml of oil and instead pour 850 because an oil filter change warrants a topup of 950ml. A simple oil change requires 850ml of topup. Just because you dont see oil in the window doesnt mean its burning off oil. Check the window when after resting the bike for 15mins. But yes there is slight deficiency of oil which you should get topped up. You must be close to your second service now so get it thoroughly checked at the SVC. Also try staying with your bike during the service, take the day off and make sure they are going through all the maintenance checks.Originally posted by joelgreen View PostIt has been ~1600kms since my first service. Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
I got my hands on my gixxer sf yesterday. It is my first ever personal ride. Can someone please guide me to overcome the engine burn in period. What are some things that should be avoided? Anything else that service guys wont do or dont do efficiently?
The service guy asked me to come after 750 to 1000 km or 30 days for first service.
Feeling really excited about this awesome machine.
