Sorry for your bike. Hope she gets on the road as good as new.
You would not say that if you'd see the meltdowns I'm having at home. I'm so murderously angry at that guy I just hope he never gets to ride a bike ever again. Also, I want to go and torture him slowly, painfully, till he coughs out the cash to make up for the losses I have to suffer.

As for the bike, I will never be able to look at her the same way again. I took a lot of care of my second-hand CBR just to get more and more repair bills. We shelled out enough over that bike to have afforded a brand new bike and more too! And now just within 10 days of purchase, and a lot of dedicated, careful riding later, this bike is in the dumps. My mood is so screwed I'm don't even want to patiently do the run-in for this bike anymore (completed 600kms on the odo). Both the CBR and the Gixx will take 10-12 days at their respective SVCs. I don't even know what I'm supposed to do until then. I have no social life apart from xBhp and socializing with my bikes, literally. I've been through 2 bad break-ups before and this is way worse. I don't even feel like reporting to work!😂
Sorry for the OT whining folks, it's just that only you biker peeps would probably understand what I'm in for right now.

Anyway, my bike is new and under run-in, so the mileage will be less.

A squid crashed into me 2 days ago (Sunday evening). He decided to cross the divider and venture into the oncoming lane just to overtake a car or two in his lane. The maniac crossed through a gap in the divider like racers ride onto the track from a pit-lane. There was a car to my left and the divider to his left, hence none of us could avoid the collision. And what's worse? He loses control and accelerated right into me. I was at 60kmph when I saw him and braked, when I hit him I was doing around 40kmph, he was probably doing 50-60kmph. Luckily, apart from a little cut on my elbow and a hit to the left chest near (and including) the left collar-bone, I was unharmed. He fell with the bike after the impact and fractured his left leg.

Behold, my bike that was just 10 days old when the incident occurred! That's the squid's CB Twister on the right. Barely any damage taken!

Took the bike to the service center the next day to get a lovely quote of 42k INR for the repair job.

Thankfully, I have insurance and the number arrived on Sunday itself. Since Sunday was a half-day for the showroom peeps they asked me to visit on Monday for the number-plate installation but well, this just had to happen!

His friends visited me and pleaded that I claim insurance because his hospital bills will cost about 1 lac INR. God knows what's so expensive in a leg fracture, I'm visiting the hospital to pay that little screw-up a visit and check how genuine this expense is with the doctor there.

They said they'll pay the remaining amount that the insurance company does not admit. Thanks to this little prick, the resale value of my bike will also take a good hit of about 15k INR, which I will try to extract from him. Also, since my bike won't be home for a good 12-15 days, I have to get beaten up in the Mumbai locals and Thane buses. I hate how these morons can put people through inconveniences just because they choose to break the law.

So anyway, out of sheer frustration, cheers to the first SP Edition Gixxer SF crash on xBhp!
i would have filed case on him for irresponsible riding this is not less than a murder attempt.

joelgreen - Bro so sorry to hear that. Glad to know your okay! That's most important.

Well These squids are . . damn can't use curses here. I was slowly riding my bike, on the left most lane, at some 60, minding my own business and enjoying the morning cool breeze of Bengaluru, and a squid came beside me on his Splendor, sitting like a crab with his legs and hands spreadout, asking me to engage in a race with him. Normally I shout at them and say, pls go ahead and don't bother. But I was so calm that day, I was just staring at him. He was bit puzzled I guess. He took off immediately! I was so happy and relieved. Seriously these spineless organisms are a pain in the behind.!

Update: Was bit irritated with the hard seat, my areas were paining badly after a long ride. So went to a seat shop just now, asked him to add extra foam or something, he added 1 layer of water resistant foam, and then above that another layer of normal foam. All this was done above the stock seat. Then he put a seat cover on top of all this, and stapled it. The results-little higher than usual, but comfy as helllllll! Now, since the frontal area of the seat is wider, you get good support for your inner thighs, and, your area will just merge so well with the seat now, no issues. It's... bliss )
He said 380, I gave 350. I know it's waay too much, and if I hunted around, could have done it for cheaper, but, I don't care! Just wanted to get it done ASAP. ! The area is important, you see

I wanted to do that too. But the cops here are just hand-in-gloves with the locals and so it'll mostly be pointless.

There's an update, they will operate him on Saturday to insert a steel plate in his leg. I feel a bit sorry for him, but I feel he totally deserves it for what he did. It is only my sympathy for his well-deserved condition that made me claim insurance so that these low-baller maniacs don't get brain hemorrhages with the stress of funding problems.

True, they're always "Ready to Race".
Dear KTM, kindly change that damn squid-squad tag-line!

The seat looks really cool though! It makes the bike look more beefier and sporty in my opinion! I might opt for that when I get my bike back as well! 😉

I'm lucky, I hardly got hurt! But yes, it's a heartache, having this happen to my first brand new vehicle.

Bike is perfectly fine with minor scratches but he got his knee joint crashed.Hospital bill was around 1.7 lakhs for the surgery( Nepali rupees) and another surgery needs to be done to take out those nuts and bolts in his leg.

Glad you are safe and dont worry your resale value wont drop just like that. If the dealership can restore your bike to factory condition then you can demand market price for the bike depending on your advertising skills.

I sold my 2013 Honda Activa (7000kms); with 2 severe accidents repaired under insurance, for 45k. It all depends on advertising it properly and responding to the correct buyer.

I visited the guy yesterday. Turns out both the outer and inner bones on his ankle are fractured. He also took a good hit to his right shoulder which is probably a hairline fracture too.
The guy is married and his wife is expecting to deliver in 4-5 months. Because of this incident, his elder brother has taken 10 days off work to attend to him. He's grounded for 2 months at the least. Even after that, it'll be difficult I hear. He works as a driver and now his career will take a huge hit. All for that impatience to save a few seconds.

I wanted to demand 10-15k from his relative, but seeing his condition made me feel really sorry for him. I guess he has learnt his lesson, I surely hope he has. I've decided to foot the expense if it's under 10k after the insurance compensation. He deserves to pay, but his family isn't really deserving of this turmoil. Their suffering is enough compensation.

I sold my 2013 Honda Activa (7000kms); with 2 severe accidents repaired under insurance, for 45k. It all depends on advertising it properly and responding to the correct buyer.

The problem is, my experience with this bike is ruined now. I'm going to quit the run-in and go supersport when I get the bike back. I always take too much care of my bikes and get lovely repair bills. I'm frustrated with this stuff!

You mean go hard on the bike or get a new bike? If its the former then know this, your engine wasnt damaged so you still need to break it in properly.
