Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Don't use these kind of mesh filters they will screw ur bike's engine. If you are a fond of that revvy sound get the uni foam filter. It has a outer cover of foam and will filter dust better than k&n. Also make sure to upjet the carburetor and find a breather tube filter or get a custom filter clamp with provision to connect the breather tubeOriginally posted by rajdeep9 View PostGuys need your help ASAP! I am about to install K&N air filter in my GSF. I am confused between two models of their universal filter - RC 1060 or R 1100.
I have seen people using RC 1060 but need to know if R1100 will be perfect or not. Please help me choose the right one.Off the BOTTLE & On the THROTTLE

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
This is my first post on xBhp.
I'm Prashant, from Delhi.
I was out looking for a street bike with some touring capabilities in August. Almost paid the down payment for the 500cc bullet, but they had a waiting period of 45-60 days. So I went over to a Honda and later a TVS showroom. The Latest 150 from Honda was okay, but I felt it lacked character.
Then I got really angry when I found that the TVS hadn't yet launched apache 200cc ABS version.
I was walking out of the TVS showroom when I saw a Suzuki showroom nearby. ...
Went in, checked the specs, looked at the online reviews and made the down payment. Got delivery the next day.
I have clocked 2800 km in 50 days. Mostly highway runs. ..

Thanks mate. Do you have any purchase link to that foam filter? Have you used it?Originally posted by Jith_in View PostDon't use these kind of mesh filters they will screw ur bike's engine. Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
So my review of the bike
The first 15 days I didn't have the permanent number plates, so I rode it for just 300 kms in my colony.
There was a burning smell (probably paint) which has vanished sometime after first service.
The bottom hasn't scraped any speed breakers till now (with pillion, without conscious effort). It handles potholes really well even at high speed. My girl says that the ride quality is quite good for the pillion.
The preformance in city traffic is similar to the FZ16 I used to own before this. Adequate. It is easy to manoeuvre in traffic (though I normally prefer to ride in a straight line). Performance in the city is good, and I'm generally the fastest off a red light(since there are mostly commuter cars around).
It corners effortlessly at high speed(80-100) and the tyres are very grippy and confidence inspiring on most roads.
It cruises effortlessly (with engine relaxed till 80-90), and I have pushed it to about 120 (GPS speed ). I have ridden it continuously for 40 km at speeds over 110- the bike doesn't complain much. The tyres can handle those speeds without getting very hot.
Max I have done is 500 km in a day with my girl, and it resulted in sore bottoms...
Brakes- had a minor skid when I used the rear disc brake at 45-50. Didn't fall. Since then, I use combination braking. Not a single skid after that.
(Just be careful on sand and gravel )
Mirror spread is not a big deal. Touched a person only once (intentionally😈
.
Personally, I don't like the exhaust note - but the performance at this price point is amazing. And the bike feels solid.
Will post a pic soon.
I like to maintain my bike well, so I suppose I can expect at least 3 years of touring on this bike.
Well, that's it for now...Last edited by docprashant; 10-20-2016, 12:26 AM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Just Google it you will get. I have not used any of these aftermarket filters. I am sticking to stock as I am concerned about reliability. And it won't give any noticeable gain in power figures except the funky noise.Originally posted by rajdeep9 View PostThanks mate. Do you have any purchase link to that foam filter? Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Hey guys,
I'm planning on booking the Gixxer SF SP Edition in a week. I live at Thane and test rode both the Naked and SF variants at Kiran Suzuki before making the decision.
Is there any other dealer you'd recommend that provides better after-sales service in the Thane area? If yes, please let me know!
Also, I'd like some tips for running-in and what free accessories I could bargain for to sweeten the purchase (I'm truly Indian after all!
Don't mind the silly joke, I don't intend on provoking any 'intolerant' patriots with my light humor.)

Well I got Engine extended warranty (670 bucks), number plate (230 bucks), Teflon coating (300 bucks) for free after lot of bargaining. You can also opt for the turn indicator sound unit and Suzuki handle bar grips.Originally posted by joelgreen View PostHey guys,

UPDATE: Just rode 120kms Highway and hit the twisties at Nandi Hills, Bangalore. The way you can lean into corners is mind blowing. And it is very stable coz I was riding on an elevated expressway and heavy winds were there, but didn't feel much as compared to my old RTR160. Only now I can say that fairing does help in a bike on highways. It keeps the bike stable under crosswinds, And helps to reduce crosswinds quite a lot.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Dude I just met with a crash with my new SF fairing s broken where UKI is stickerd... Is the price for it is 700 Rs. ? And what can b done with the scratches on the top?Originally posted by dhruvwali View PostSo for the third time I gave my bike to Meghdoot Suzuki, Hennur Road, Bangalore to fix the hard gears/gear downshift problem and to fix the weak front and back brake issues.
Went to pick up the bike in the evening and after a short trial the issues seemed to be better. Didn't have much time so didn't do an extensive test. While making the exit formalities noticed a HUGE crack on the right front fairing! As though someone had hit it with a hammer or the bike had fallen sideways.
Showed it to SVC head and he denied responsibility saying it was like this when I came in with the bike.
Asked him why he didn't report it in the SVC sheet while taking the bike if this crack was there in the beginning to which he didn't have an answer. HE kept on saying that there are cameras around and if it had fallen it would've been captured in it. I countered by saying that I gave a scratches bike and you are returning me with a cracked one.
Finally threatened to write a mail to Suzuki if they dont fix it and they finally gave way. Said no parts are available, so I told them to get the bike fixed by Tuesday latest, else I'll talk to Suzuki myself.
Guys, be very careful while giving bikes to SVC. They'll try to pass off any damage as your fault.
Have left the bike with them at the SVC itself. Lets see if there are any further complications.
FYI the price of the right side fairing(where the UKI snickering is done) is for Rs700.

Extended warranty is shit.....the showroom guys tricks bike owners to pay for extended warranty but it is of no use. Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Hi Vishal,Originally posted by Vishal_G View PostJoel, what happened to your cbr man?
I had relocated to Bangalore for 4 months. 2 weeks ago, just before I left, I spent 13,648/- on getting the engine block, pistons, valves and valve casting (Idk what it's called, basically it's the casting above the cylinder through which the valves pass, the biggest part in the picture attached). 2 years ago I changed the clutchplates, camshafts, valve caps and other parts that set me back by 45k INR approx. I've spent a lot on the CBR and it hates traffic, literally. Highways aren't a problem but get caught in bumber-to-bumper traffic and you're in for some frustrating trouble.
Ever since I got back from Bangalore, I decided not to commute via the local trains here because it's a pain in the backside. I spend 2 hours one-way via public transport (that involves changing 2 trains and a bus ride) to get to my office that's 43 kms away from my home in Thane. This takes anywhere from 1 hour to 1.5 hours depending on the traffic if I use my bike. But the bike is way more convenient, although costs almost double.
Hence, to bring down the cost of commuting via bike and making my commute way more comfortable, especially the B2B traffic portions thanks to a way better low-end torque than the CBR, the Gixxer SF!
I'm planning on selling off my CBR in the next 2-3 months. Tried the exchange scheme with the dealer but they're offering just 35k which is ridiculous for a bike of it's class that has been cared for ever since I bought it.
One thing that really caught my attention though, is the refinement on the Gixxers, both Naked and SF test bikes were butter smooth, my CBR was never that smooth, EVER!
Plus, if I'm not wrong, the Gixxers can cruise at 80-85kmph without any noticeable strain on the engine which would make it a good highway tool too. My CBR was very slightly more hesitant at those speeds. So although it makes lesser power than my CBR and doesn't look as good, I'm looking forward to some good rides with the Gixxer SF.
Should I opt for the FI variant? Because that's only available in Blue and I don't like that color because it's too mainstream TBH. The SP edition looks very unique in that Matte Grey colour and I love it for that simple reason! I'm confused!

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
I decided to keep off the Extended Warranty. They are charging 750/- for that at present, but I can buy it later as well (not later than 2 years), is what I've been told. 2 years is a long time TBH and as I've heard, these companies will do whatever they can to refuse warranty claims and make you pay everything, so I'm not quite in for warranty now. If I encounter the slightest signs of engine problems in the next 2 years, I'll make the move and get the warranty to cover my little butt.Originally posted by vishandy2k View PostWell I got Engine extended warranty (670 bucks), number plate (230 bucks), Teflon coating (300 bucks) for free after lot of bargaining. I didn't quite think of teflon coating but I managed to bargain for the pillion footrest for the saree-guard, a parking cover and asked them to waive off the processing charge for a credit card payment amounting to 752/- approx.
Also, the total on-road price was brought down from 1,04,255/- to 1,03,000/-, thanks to my dad who works in the Marketing/Sales Team of his company and negotiations are kinda his thing.
I shall get the bike by Friday evening.
I enjoyed Nandi Hills when I was in B'lore, man! Especially the first wide left-hander as you're going up the hill. It was always a pleasure charging into that corner. I've experienced those highway crosswinds on the CBR too. I wish I could ride with my SF there but I'm stuck in Mumbai for now. Glad to hear that you're having a ball of a time!
