Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread

Hello Friends
I am new to this thread and this is my Ride.
I recently put black tinted film on the headlight, tail light and indicators. It has affected the illumination and light has decreased by 70%[emoji32] but I have no problem with it because I don't ride in the night and when I do, I am usually with friends. The attention my bike now gets is simply mind blowing😎. Since Gixxers have now flooded the streets I was looking for a solution to stand out and now I am happy[emoji1]

Not to diss your attempts to stand out in the crowd, but this is the kind of stuff puts you and others on road in danger.
Imagine in some emergency you'll need to ride in the night, if the illumination is down by 70 %, you probably won't be able to see any clearly on the streets or highway, neither will the next person, who may or may not be riding sanely.
Instead, spend some time and money on the functional enhancements than the cosmetic ones. Just my 2 cents.
Regards.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Ah well I've done 1 week. Done just 173kms
I travel just 30kms a day. It's towards an industrial area, so the roads are worse than worse. It's like a rally course. And so shocking that not even once the fairing has hit the ground! Yes I'm riding between 2.5k to 4.5k rpm, Max touched 55 till now. There's slight engine heating issue when I'm at signal, but once on the move, no issues. I guess it's a new engine so after the breaking in period maybe the heating will reduce. The engine is seriously the best feature in the bike, so butter smooth. Gear shifts though, are very hard. The showroom guys said it'll smoothen out as well over time. I have gotten used to it, very few false neutrals.
It's really really comfortable, this bike. Maneuvering in traffic is damn easy coz it's so nimble and light, you can dart into corners easily, this bike is so flickable! Yes the mirrors are bit odd, but, it helps with the rear view as it doesn't show your elbows, huge field of view. And I haven't faced any issues with squeezing between trucks or buses, you just need to know when to time the maneuver. Since the mirrors jut out only some few cms more than the handlebar. So no issues in that regard.
Many of my friends have ridden the bike, all are in love with the engine and the exhaust note. One friend observed that, there's a long travel from 1st to neutral and to 2nd, hence, it's much easier to shift to neutral. You won't hit neutral accidentally, like how I used to on my RTR160.
There's so much low end torque, you will reach 60 easily with minimal effort. It's a boon in stop and go traffic. Just released the clutch slightly, and you've already reached 20 in first gear
Yes about the headlight throw, can't comment much, haven't ridden in the night often. When I have, it's sufficient in the colony in the late evenings.
Had observed a few spots of oil on the ground when it's left overnight, just below the left footrest. But when I bent and looked underneath the bike, there's no trace of the oil leaking from anywhere. Just to make sure, took it to the service centre, the technician there said it's dry grease that's melted from the chain due to the heat and that's what's dropping down. Just to make sure, I asked him to tighten the oil drain plug that is below the engine. Now, no drops have been observed.
That's it guys, will update after first service. For those of you looking to buy this, and are confused abt this or the Hornet, I'd suggest this, coz for the looks and the engine and the balance itself it's worth it! I have test ridden the Hornet, and it wasn't this flickable.
Anyways, Cheers and Peace.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Agreed with PrinceCruise. You might become popular among the general biking population but you are not going to garner any respect among actual bikers with that kind of modification. There are better and safer ways to make your bike stand out in the crowd. You just have to be more creative.Originally posted by Hardik_Joshi View PostHello Friends

You can install that on the bike and get the same light intensity even if the headlight is covered.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
I was looking for a reversible mod so I decided to go for the film. IMO HIDs are not fully reliable so when I am done with the film, I will peel it off and the bike will be stock again. As many friends have pointed out the hazards of low intensity, I would like them to know that I am fully aware of the cconsequences and as much aware of safety of others as they are. The reason I decided to go for this mod was because it fulfilled all my requirements and didn't compromise on safety because I do not ride in the night with bike. In case of emergencies I simply borrow my friend's bike or ride pillion with him.Originally posted by Gollum View PostHeard of HID's ?
