Guys is anyone facing problems with thier rims? My wheel was wobbling and I went to service center and the guy told me the rim is bended and I'll need to buy a new one costing around 6k I mean what? My bike is just 3 months old rode like 2500 and I don't remember jumping my bike off a cliff what do I do now to avoid this kind of shit I didn't brought the rs 200 (r15 is very common) because of the allow wheel and gear box stuff I didn't wanted a unreliable bike which kept asking for random parts and thought of buying a good product but sf turned me down can a rim could be repaired or sort of that? I'm poor I barely afford the fuel since this sucked up bike is giving me no more than 38 no matter how I ride it. Help pls

Tough spot where you are at now. Shoot a mail through their website (Contact Us | Suzuki Motorcycle India Ltd.) stating the nature of the issue (whether its a defect or ortherwise), how the SVC has responded and how many times you have visited, fill in your details, note the reference number. Show your agitation in your mail and demand for a quick reply. Send a mail to the SVC with the reference number and ask them to contact you immediately on being approached by Suzuki.

I hope they take a notice of your circumstances.

I have changed my pilot lamp and rear number plate illuminator to white LEDs. Both are 3w. Anything less than 5w is Ok, as there won't be any need to change wiring. Wiring change will void warranty

Also, I have changed stock osrams to osram night racer plus 35w. I feel it's brighter than stock. Anything above 35w is not recommended according to manual.

I have faced the issue. I ran over a pothole and both the rims got bend. Then i showed to the showroom, they told me to replace both the cast wheels. I tried explaining suzuki customer executive and i have mentioned that i am highly dissatisfied with the build quality as it got bend for just a small pothole(note:both the rims). But they were never ready to accept it. Later, without any option, i went to the service center and changed both the wheels

Holy mother of God.... My front wheel is wobbling too hell with this bike man suzuki is trash, my friends splendor 1997 doesn't has its rim bended yet and I haven't crossed 3 months yet and I'll have to change both rims man what's the guarantee that if I change same with not happen again? Is your rim working good after that? Man I'll trust aftermarket then this weak rim, Hell my friends 200ns rim didn't bended 2 years old almost a bike which is known for breaking of alloy wheels and gearbox...

Guys better go for some steel alloy rim which is available now paint it to matt black which suits suzuki gixxer sf looks because pothholes can't be handled by aluminum rims

Wait a moment... What's your speed and what's the pot hole you have bumped in ? How its possible for a rims to get bend or cracked?? I drove FZ16 once (3 years old) ; I was 70 kmph on speedo bumped into pretty bad pothole (maybe 6 inches depth) , FZs rim didn't get bend or cracked !!!

Kesavkay u got a point here but still all depends on the length of the bike suspension rider's weight either is also a problem for a bike

Agree.. Now adding one more question to prashanthG.. what's the weight of rider, which made the rim to get bend.

                          Hi everyone
I am planning to buy my first bike......and I have short listed 2 bikes
                          1-the gixxer sf
                          2- bajaj pulsar rs 200
But I am more inclined towards the gixxer sf because of its light weight..and smooth engine...so I want to know is the gixxer sf a good bike for a beginner?? And is it under powered as some users say??

Gixxer will be better suited to beginners given the better low end torque and superb handling. Also the gearshift indicator is a blessing for newbies. Also the wide handle bar is easy to ride in city traffic. Get a RS 200 if you crave more top speed. These two bikes fall in different categories hence cannot be compared much.
The sense of freedom these two wheels give can never be matched by anything else...

Thank you for advice bro... I think will go for the gixxer sf instead of rs 200.......and does the bike have any vibrations like the rs 200 in speeds between 50-60 kmph??

Not at all, in fact the refinement and smoothness is well known trait of the bike (some say its best in 150cc class), People have been cruising smoothly on this bike at 100+ speeds. So dont even sweat about it.

First of all do a thorough pre-delivery check of your bike (preferably before the showroom people register it).

Since you're a fresh to biking, follow the run-in norms for the first 2000 kms

Before first service (@ 750-1000kms or 30days): Keep it below 60kmph, unders 4.5k rpm for smooth mating of ur engine components. Dont get panicky if you go over that once in a while, or u get some burning smell or that the gear shifts are clunky. All this is supposed to happen.

After the first servce and until 2000kms: Keep it under 5-5.5k rpm and under 70kmph. Feel your motorcycle.

After 2000kms & before 2nd service: You are free to cross these barriers but you may feel the engine grunt and heat. You may wish to change the oil once at 2000kms, some bikers change it every 500kms between the 1st and 2nd service (makes the engine smoother), but again u might as well wait as it is just another 1000kms for the next service at this stage.

After the 2nd service (3000kms+): Happy revving and full throttle!!

Also, maintain a good rapport with the service center and showroom people, it helps in the long run and small things. Read the manual, you'll love it.

I have listed these things based on my experience with the sf.
