Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
@ Mohd Akbar...SF is a bike being highly in demand, is quite often recd,, by the service center guys and ridden down to the showroom...frm far away places..
And they revv them like there is no tommorow..
One guy evn admittd to achieving top speed of 141..tho i dono how he did it..
Nonetheless..the best i think u can do is a thorough PDI check and ensure atlst the bike is in it's best condition it cud be..
The SVC i go to usualy is rit below the Showroom and i see brand new bikes be tinkered around allll the time..
When i ask wot's goin on..they gve sme crappy answer..
Shame...real shame..wonder if SMIPL is aware this all is being done ?
They work their butts off to create these products and the no gooder showroom guys Screw it up..NEVER.....Take your eyes off the road...!!

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
i bought this bike a month back. I learnt to ride on this bike. Its extremely easy for beginners and i didnt have any issues. i was up and around in a week or so. If you want looks go for the Moto GP edition, its 100% worth it. I was thinking black but got the Moto GP and every stop light people are checking my bike out.Originally posted by Mohd Akbar View PostHello people,
Newbie here. Well, I have been closely following this thread. And subsequently have booked a Gixxer SF as my birthday gift. Will be getting it on the 24th this month.
Would like you all to share your experiences and knowledge to improve the way we can maintain the Gixxer SF.
As a sane rider, I would not like to tingle around with my bike's performance. But i can go ahead with improving the looks and aesthetics of my bikw.
My first question is: 2 days ago I went to check my SF for a PDI. The dealer didn't allow a Test ride. But yes, I checked everything else about it. Everything was fine until I touched the engine and it was insanely hot. When enquired, the mechanic said the rider has brought it from Thane workshop ( approx 45-50 kms). So is it a worrying sign that before even laying my hands on it, the performance will be affected?
However.. if you feel like it, you can change the stock bulb to a 55W as 35W doesnt cut it on the highway at night when oncoming cars are blasting full beam like retards. Someone has done that here and hasnt had any issues.
Motorcycle air cooled engines are supposed to run hot. When i got my bike, it was ~17km away and my bro was riding while i was pillion(since i didnt know how to ride :P ).
After giving puja i washed the sindoor off and water steamed off the engine instantly. So no worries about the performance. They say to keep it below 5K RPM for first service but its ok if it goes over once or twice. Just remember, always start and idle for 1min before riding off. Most people dont and complain later that performance is bad.
I did this, and also the bike felt very slow, like it doesnt like revving. But after first service yesterday, its like butter. The gear shift, to throttle, everything is butter.
Service centre guys were nice, the lady who inspected my bike found out some faults which even i didnt notice and they replaced the parts. But this depends on location. I got it done in Chinchwad Shiv Suzuki. Pune.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
For me its just for looksOriginally posted by Rahul N View PostIs this light just for looks? or for visibility??
Can I do something like this in naked Gixxer?
You can add small led lights which will act as your light boosters
And for the naked gixxer part its at where of your bike your trying to do something
Take a look at a bike and gaps and panels
Youll surely come up with a solution to pimp your bike

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Hey so I used the suzuki motul oil fromt the SVC. Have to say it does the job. Smoother engine and gear shifts, better pick-up. Will wait for another 2000kms or till engine grunt and then shift to synthetic ShellOriginally posted by kannanmr16 View PostAX7 is semi, similar to the one used by SVC. There won't be any difference in using this oil.
If you have recently changed the oil, wait for another 500~1000km and shift to ultra.
FYI people - Handlebar costs Rs. 350 (inclusive of tax).
