Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Hey guys , i am new on the forum and just had 1st service of my Gixxer Sf and the thing is that when it was being serviced and the oil was changed i heard loud revving sounds almost full revs i guess , i was in the room for persons to sit when getting their bike serviced , i got down to check and saw the service person revving my bike hard , he said its done after changing oil and i had kept my bike in the mentioned 4500 rpm before its 800 km and i argued with the guy but saw him doing that 2 or 3 times again , well now i am worried about my bike's engine .
what do you say guys ?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Don't need to worry. Also, there's no need for him to rev in order to circulate the oil, it can do at idle. Bike's engine will be fine.Originally posted by Jon Snow View PostHey guys , i am new on the forum and just had 1st service of my Gixxer Sf and the thing is that when it was being serviced and the oil was changed i heard loud revving sounds almost full revs i guess , i was in the room for persons to sit when getting their bike serviced , i got down to check and saw the service person revving my bike hard , he said its done after changing oil and i had kept my bike in the mentioned 4500 rpm before its 800 km and i argued with the guy but saw him doing that 2 or 3 times again , well now i am worried about my bike's engine .

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Just ask him the logic behind revving after the oil change. Though it wouldnt have been necessary I guess he did it to circulate the oil or facilitate the mating of the parts, but rest assured it hasn't ruined your engine.Originally posted by Jon Snow View PostHey guys , i am new on the forum and just had 1st service of my Gixxer Sf and the thing is that when it was being serviced and the oil was changed i heard loud revving sounds almost full revs i guess , i was in the room for persons to sit when getting their bike serviced , i got down to check and saw the service person revving my bike hard , he said its done after changing oil and i had kept my bike in the mentioned 4500 rpm before its 800 km and i argued with the guy but saw him doing that 2 or 3 times again , well now i am worried about my bike's engine .

A few full revvs wont hurt the engine. See, when our bikes are delivered from the stocks to the showroom, they are sometimes ridden by riders all the way to the showroom and there is no way of saying that they have well maitained the engine under 4.5k rpm, hell! they ride like crazies, still that doesnt hurt the bike.
So just relax, I can understand your concern, I have been there too but it is a well built bike, so nothing to worry about. Wait until 1500-1700 kms oon ur odo, and then you can cross the barrier.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Got my SF from Kiran Suzuki, Thane on 1st Jan so it was a very happy beginning of 2016 for me. I've clocked 240KMs in the first week. Planning to do at least 800 before the first service.
Bike is amazing. Super refined engine makes for a super smooth ride with minimal vibrations. Gear shifts are clunky at times but I've heard that its normal for new bikes and that it wouldn't be an issue after the initial service. Brakes, both front and rear, are perfectly tuned and provide excellent feedback if used together; which they're supposed to be. If you have the habit of using only the rear brake, you may find it a little "soft". Handling is great and I don't think there is any need for clip-ons as the stock handlebars provide excellent turning and cornering abilities. Mirrors are wider than you'd want them to be so you have to be careful while pulling into tight spots, especially during traffic. I love the console. It is small in size but has everything you can think of and is perfectly legible be it day or night. Pillion comfort is good. The exhaust note is nice too.
There's really not much to not like about this bike. If I'd have to nitpick, I can say that the headlight throw is not adequate for riding at night. That and the mirrors being wide which I've already mentioned. Otherwise, this is a fantastic bike. And it definitely looks fantastic too. You'd be smiling to see the number of heads turned when you pass by.
I'm waiting now to finish my initial servicings to be able to open the throttle further and unleash the full power of this machine. Overall, I'm more than satisfied with my purchase. You'll find numerous positive reviews and ownership experiences of this bike around the internet. My review only adds up to the fact that the Suzuki Gixxer SF is indeed a complete package.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Dear all
I am trying to make up my mind between the Hornet, the Fazer V2 and the Gixxer SF.
With regards to the Gixxer SF can someone who has bought over SnapDeal please respond?
a. Is the insurance deducted from the final on-road price. On Bangalore the Gixxer SF MotoGP Blue comes 1o 1,04,500. Assuming the insurance comes to 2000, is this deducted?
b. What is the value of the transaction on Snapdeal? The booking amount of Rs 3000 is non-refundable. Is the rest payable to the dealer directly? I was hoping to transact the full deal over SnapDeal and avail the 5% offer for HDFC Debit card users.
Finally, for daily commuting, I am sure there seems to be very little to choose between the Gixxer SF, Gixxer, FZ-S or the Hornet. Do you concur?
Thanks!
Congrats on the purchase. It indeed is a good bike.
I have got the bike after 3rd service, as I have mentioned before they have used the old motul engine oil. It is SS. I have completed 500km after this oil change and its just terrible. [emoji17]
I am just unable to get neutral, gear shifts are back to being hard and notchy. Just have to complete another 500km more and change to FS. I just don't understand why they recommend this engine oil.Last edited by kannanmr16; 01-08-2016, 09:04 PM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
I will change to OMS Suzuki for service next time. One user has commented that they do a better job in Gixxer thread.
I have asked the mech specifically in SMK Suzuki to change the spark plug and air filter and they even quoted that in the job sheet, but when I went to take delivery I was told "sir everything is in good condition, so we just cleaned and put it back. So only oil and oil filter changed.
I also told them to tighten the fairing and foot pegs a little, which also was not done. Pretty clear now that bikes don't cause problems but SVC does.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
If you book the bike via Snapdeal, Insurance will be complimentary. Booking amount of 3k will be deducted from the on road price.Rest of the money needs to be paid to the dealer directly. Assuming insurance is 2.5k, you will end up paying 1.02L on road. On road price in Chennai after Snapdeal offer is 99k.Originally posted by rapperswil View PostDear all

Check you quote again. Dealer will add extended warranty & Zero dep insurance Ad-on which pushes the cost up by 1.2k.
I'm in the same boat as well. Not able to decide between Gixxer SF, Hornet & As 200. Fz V2.0 seems to be too low on power is almost as expensive as Gixxer SF.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Helmet does not pose any problems as long as I keep my head straight. On speeds above 50, if I look sideways, that's when the wind starts to sway my head a bit. Nothing major. You get used to it.Originally posted by akash22 View PostHi aquibmastan congratulations on your new bike so how's the helmet? Is it good?

) and that is mostly between 2nd - for pick up and while 3rd & 4th gears - for sustainance revving. So after a full top-up I was observing the Fuel Indicator and trip meter for a few days to calculate the current FE in such riding conditions. I observed my first fuel bar (i.e. 3L
) DROP at just 82 kms.
