Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Excellent choice.. Now about the run in period..Originally posted by james07alfred View PostHey guys!!
I'm gonna book a gixxer sf this Monday...I just wanna kno about the break in /run in period of the bike..and what are the things to follow during the starting period. Thanks in advance..
1. While breaking in you don't want to give sudden throttle or apply sudden brakes. Get yourself acquainted with the clutch play. Don't ride at constant speed all the time. Try to vary your speed and go thru all the gears. THERE IS NO SPEED RESTRICTION. But following the RPM restrictions, you would be going at around 65kmph in the fifth gear.
2. Make sure you don't exceed 4500rpm till 800KMS. Try to complete 700KMS at least before first service if you can.
3. Stay within 7000rpm till you've clocked 1600 KMS.
4. Don't push the bike into corners till 160KMS as your tires would be new. You need to break in your tires too.
Take care of your bike, keep it clean and healthy. Wear your gear and ride safe.
Note: If I've missed anything, people are free to add.

Look up for pre delivery inspection on the internet for details. Also, take a test ride to see if everything is in order.Originally posted by suvam dash View PostFinally booked the gixxer sf after lots of searching....reading ownership reviews...and comparing..will get the delivery on 2nd Feb that is Tuesday......so plss tell me what are the things that I should check before taking the delivery...???
Also check that they've provided original MRFs and hav not swapped it before delivery (happened with a friend).

to do this correctly, put your bike in centre stand, and start it up and put it in first gear. Keep the clutch held in, dont release it. if the rear wheel turns then you have a problem.
other than being annoying this will wear out your clutch very quickly. Eventually causing gear box problems.

Can you please elaborate this ? i never thought it as an issue , rear wheel spinning when clutch is engaged fully is a problem?Originally posted by de.das.dude View Postto do this correctly, put your bike in centre stand, and start it up and put it in first gear. Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Okay i tried adjusting the clutch and made it much tighter(about 4-5 revolutions of the adjustable nut ) but the wheel is still turning, but little lesser than before (negligible difference)Originally posted by de.das.dude View Postto do this correctly, put your bike in centre stand, and start it up and put it in first gear. Can anything else be causing this?
Edit: I did a little research and also found that the wheel turning slowly while the clutch is pressed is normal, and making the clutch too tight can snap the cable.
*Okay stupid me*
My bikes choke was a centimeter below the off position, and as soon as i pushed if all the way off, the bikes now working fine.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Hey guys anyone knows is it worth upsizing my tyres my stock one served me really well no punctures in 10k kilometers, I was thinking to change to Metzlers or mrf's 110-70 front and 150-60 rear would there will be a major difference I just love cornering and was thinking would it increase lean angles and corner speeds, btw I went to a workshop he swapped all of my all 3 lights to white and indicator with amber leds would be posting pics soon.
