Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
And for the headlight part
If you need one
Buy one
No review or suggestions can do justice if you haven't seen it in person
Take the leap of faith and buy the one that you want
For me i bought a led unit a first
Which gave ample light but due to our shape of the reflector it tended to throw the light to the face of incoming traffic.
Hence i had to change it.
And it's even illegal to run pure white lights in our area.
Then i went with a bosch 55 w
It gave massive difference when compared with the stock but make no mistake it's not ample for highways and night rides.
And maybe no bulb will ever suffice
Why?
Because others lights are more compared to your and it the shape and quality of our reflector which causes this problem.
If you do want more light then invest in a costly PROJECTOR.
(The reason to quote it because 1k worth Chinese craps are not)
And get a pair of auxiliary flood lights if you want lights.
And for the if a higher rating bulb will take a toll on your battery?
Yes it'll but on your reflector and not on battery.
But It'll dim slightly when you use the horns.
I think this clarifies most of the problems.
Had waited a long time before writing this as didn't wanted to break anyone's heart.
But
Someone has to bell the cat.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
If you are using your rear brakes to do any kind of braking other than slow speed stabilization maneuver or coming to a stop, then you probably need to learn to use your brakes properly.Originally posted by sandeep.biswas View PostHi Guys,
Anyone facing reduced braking after a couple hours of riding?
Yesterday I almost ran into an auto during a turn coz my rear disc wouldn't slow down the bike enough entering the turn.
I have been doing that stuff for months but yesterday was the longest drive I took it out for at a stretch.
I thought that might have been a one off and I might have carried more speed into the corner, but next corner also i overshot the road.
Scared me a bit, but after giving the bike a little rest all was ok. Any help on this?
Important to mention that just before this incident i had to brake hard before a hump, and my rear tyre locked up and the bike did skid a little sideways, but it was under control all the time.
Drop the speed using front brakes not rear brakes. Also adjust your corner entry speed before entering into a corner. If in a corner you have to brake at all, straighten up the bike then use front brakes.
Protip: Dont consider yourself as Rossi and try to perform Trail brakingsLast edited by MotoBlizzard; 12-26-2016, 11:10 PM.For My Gixxer Related videos: Click HERE

sandeep.biswas, if I use the rear brakes often on my CBR 250, they have reduced effectiveness after an hour of riding. I presume it's a phenomenon called brake fade, caused by the brakes overheating.

Completed the run-in 4 days ago!

Since it's Christmas and I'm fond of DIYs, I spent my Sunday on a DIY LED job. Here's what the bike looks like now :

Apologies for the poor image quality. Merry Christmas, guys!

Have you seen the Powerdrift review of the Gixxer SF?? They mention the same thing about braking on this bike. Brakes start to fade after couple hours of riding hard.Originally posted by sandeep.biswas View PostHi Guys,

Don't do it plz.. Gold will look horrible.. I think the red thin tape beautifully contrasts the bike.. So IMO, no change required.
You can add SUZUKI logo on the fairing though

Yeah I have seen that. He said not much of an issue, but for me it was.Originally posted by Hardik_Joshi View PostHave you seen the Powerdrift review of the Gixxer SF?? They mention the same thing about braking on this bike. Brakes start to fade after couple hours of riding hard.
So, just wanted to know if everyone has the same problem, coz i can't rely on my machine on long rides. So that's scary as well.

I use rear brakes rarely, mostly if i entered a corner too fast i use it to slow me down as front brake in the middle of the corner will b dangerous.
Here the rear lock up happened coz of dirt on the road, and i couldn't see the hump in time, so applied both brakes.
I don't consider myself a rossi though

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Ive never had trouble with the back brakes on long rides (drum brakes) they do become a little less responsive but not to an extent to where they are un-usable. I usually feather the front brakes upto 20% to help slowing down but never on sandy roads. Try using a little engine brakeing too I've found myself using it alot when it comes to slowing down while downshifting recently.Originally posted by sandeep.biswas View PostYeah I have seen that. PS: downshifting on corners and the awesome mid-range pull while exiting is the most satisfying feel ever.
(Not a Rossi here too though)Last edited by Tloren; 12-28-2016, 11:35 AM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Go to an SVC and tell them to bleed the rear brakes and refill the brake fluid. Take a test ride after that and see if anything improves.Originally posted by sandeep.biswas View PostI use rear brakes rarely, mostly if i entered a corner too fast i use it to slow me down as front brake in the middle of the corner will b dangerous.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Hey guys... coming here after a long time.
Facing a problem here with my key ignition console. As shown in the picture, the whole set up has gotten loose and come down to the point that it interferes with normal steering. It is held in its position by 2 screws which require an allen key that most mechanics don't seem to have. At svc they charge 85 bucks for fixing it, which is a rip off. So anyone has any idea which one are these? got a fix it up
