    Hi,
    Been a naked gixxer owner for last 7 months, and recently completed a 1800-km highway trip. Also tested out the blue gixxer sf.

    Naked- I was at a constant 85-100 during my trip. Bike can keep going on and on at speeds of 90. I was in gear, but I felt the bike was quite decently poised at those speeds. The problem happens when a vehicle from opposing lane crosses, then the windblast was insane. Superbly planted front end.
    The last 200km of my journey, for about 1h45 mins. I maxed the bike out totally, riding at 110-125...and the bike never gave up and just keep pulling.
    Post trip I checked with scv and engine was still in tip-top condition. I was afraid of overheating , but the engine has that SEP where oil is sprayed on the pistons at high speeds, so all cool.

    Gixxer SF- took the bike out for a spin in heavy traffic. The gixxer front end is awesome, but honestly, the SF front end is a whole new level. Seriously didn't even think of keeping feet down, sooo much stability. Squeezed through gaps as well, but had to fold mirrors. Great city bike.

    Now , combining this with my gixxer review, this bike will be a sheer blast on highways. The fairing will definitely help at higher speeds, and its ultra-stable plus flickable.

    While not a huge step-up from the gixxer, the SF definitely is an improvent, whose advances you will especially feel if you love the highways[emoji2]

      Amazing! But I feel sf is expensive as it doesn't give anything much for the increase in price. or is it? :P IDK, meanwhile, I extensively rode both the bikes. I am just attracted to sf for its looks. and yes somewhere I can duck in. It will be tough to maintain and as an owner I can't bear if it has scratches or lose some grpahics :O :/

          My 1000 Kms with the Gixxer SF have been completed.

          Guys, this 1000KMS of awesomeness includes daily travel to office and a 500kms long drive.
          At the beginning i felt it was a blunder mistake to have bought this bike over the normal gixxer. But then, after riding for a couple of days i came to know that this bike can do just as good in traffic like the normal gixxer. This is a wonderful commuter and is just as nimble as the normal gixxer.

          Traffic Conditions:
          Since the front end is quite big, its you have to be precise to cut through the traffic. The turn radius is very high and taking U-Turns are very awkward and hard in the bike.

          Mileage:
          In the city, my bike gave me a very low mileage of about 42KMPL, But you should know that this is riding in high traffic at higher speeds. Consider my avg speed to be about 80KMph.

          Highway:
          Now here is the part that IMPRESSED me..
          Guys, i left bangalore at about 9:30 pm, in mild rains. i drove at a constant speed of 90-110kmph i reached a max of about 121kmph. It was wonderful and didnt heat up as one would expect it to. i covered 200kms in about 2hrs and 20mins.
          But this was just the beginning, one my way back, There was very heavy cross winds and very heavy rain. Almost through out the journey, me and my friend were shivering. But the front and back end of the bike was so stable that i was driving at a speed between 80-100kmph in moderate to heavy traffic in between busses, cars and tracks.
          Trust me, My bikew was the only bike which was on the road and every other vehicle was either a four wheeler or something bigger.
          The fairing in the front helped me greatly because, through the way back i could feel very less opposing winds. There were places where i had to hit hard braking and places where I applied soft brakes, but either way, i never slipped through and through.
          And all the while I was with a pillion and according to her, the rear seat is just as comfortable as the FZ.

          Uphill:
          This is one place the bike felt tough. It had a bit of a hard time managing me and my friend on a steep hill. The bike felt like it needed to breathe a lot in 5th gear with a pillion.
          Apart from that things were good.

          Downhill:
          Its grip is good. But a rear disc was meant to be.

          Overall:
          Its Fairing does an amazing job against wind blast and provides good wind sheilding. Mileage is good as pere my standards of driving because i dont drive under 50kmph at all.
          roght now i covered nearly 1400kms and my first service is done. I have a good dent on the fairing as the bike fell down, so buyers, keep your bike safe. Apart from this, there is nothing much to tell. If you drive your bike on highways and for long rides, then go for SF, Its actually very good.

                So a friend has bought this bike (he was deciding betweeen FZ, AS150 and Gixxer but on my advice went to Suzuki and there bought the SF instead)
                Its sooo smooth ...a couple of days back I dropped my friend to the airport on his bike and rode it back. This bike is very vibe-free (I went till 90 kmph), no plastic rattles, no drama etc.
                I'm now tempted to exchange my stupid P200 for a Gixxer but don't want to spend the $$ .

                You Gixxer/SF owners are lucky and people like me, who bought Bajaj bikes based on an idiotic power-only criteria can appreciate it the most.

                  Whats the difference in terms of years between P200 and SF. It was a revolution back then buddy. Not that I am against SF. I drove a P220, for that time, It was an awesome machine. We had very few bikes producing > 19bhp back in those days and we fell for it.

                    Made the same mistake. But you needn't cuss at the company like this because I have had an rtr and I needn't tell you more. All I did was just be patient and when it was time, exchanged it for a gixxer :P :3 Do the same, you wont regret. And all that power, I think we can live without them longer if the ride is smoother.

                      Positively surprised that a 150cc compares with a 200cc! Would like to hear Karizma owner's feedback as well, as this bike is too close to Karizma in price.

                        and here's the reasoning - That so-called 18 PS from the 200 comes in at a high RPM (I think its ~8.5K) where the bike vibrates so much and sounds so tortured that I'd keep it around the 4-5K rpm band. And if I bought a bike to do 40 -50 kmph speeds then the whole point of a larger displacement is void.

                        Basically I bought a 200cc and was riding it like a 100cc. Any time I would go touring, I'd be the slowest because I would hang around the 70-80 kmph mark where the vibrations would be significant but not unbearable. And since then I have ridden the newer pulsars and find the same problems there as well, though to a lesser extent.

                        Then I ride this bike. Its a 155 cc but vibrates way, way lesser at 90 kmph than my bike does at 60. It is at that point that you realize that power figures are pointless when you can't use them.

                            Yes. Venkat Shyam of Auto Service in Bangalore had this to day-
                            During the JV days (Hero-Honda, TVS-Suzuki, Kawasaki-Bajaj) there was a lot of technology transfer. However, the Japs kept one particular section guarded. This was the metallurgy of the piston/block/rings -basically the important engine parts and how they are formed

                            Now making engines is not easy to get right. If it was, you won't have megasized car companies developing and sharing the same engine in different cars.
                            Metallurgy, in particular, seems to be a rather tough nut to crack.

                            So Indian companies have a long way to get that perfect metallurgy. Sure, they are making progress. But are they as smooth as the Japs today? I leave that to you guys to decide. Look at the recent LC Pulsars built with KTM assistance (who are themselves not known for butter smooth engines anyway) and you can get an idea of the time it takes to develop expertise in this field.

                            Someday in the future, say ten or twenty years later, maybe there will be a Bajaj and a TVS motorcycle that may be as smooth as a Jap. But as of today, I am of the opinion that they are no match in this department. Therefore they emphasize on power/bargain pricing/different segments (AS200 anyone?) to sell.

                            OK enough OT. Enjoy your bikes. They are really nice.

                              Clever Japs eh? kept their recipe secret. But, critical-engine-parts are manufactured in India isn't it? Or they're brought from outside?

                              So, Bajaj & TVS are left with lot of investment in RnD (trial-error) with years to follow-up. Hope that they arrive at results sooner.

                                I spoke with a parts supplier that supplies some car parts to Tata and some other international brand. He said, that Indian companies have least stringent quality constraints. Some problem with the part? Straighten in out and put it to use. While international brand have much stricter quality control, and they straightaway junk the faulty part. So even the suppliers use different quality for producing the parts, which effectively results in overall decrease in quality in Indian brands, though at a good price.
