It's a younger sibling of sorts to ZMA/ZMR.
Though the smotthness should not ideally be compared with another bike that displaces almost 1.5 times (Gixxer vs Karizma), I feel Gixxer is extremely refined.

What helps bikes like Karizma/Gixxer is that the usable power is not up in the stratosphere. Not sure about Gixxer, but ZMA has max torque at 6000 RPM and max power at 7000. That means a meaty powerband from 3.5k to 7.5k odd RPM (8200 redline). That's crazy.
Lastly, mileage on the ZMR is equivalent to the Gixxer.

I fail to understand how is this a good thing?

It is lighter than the ZMR, and has less CC, so it should give much better better fuel efficiency.

I didn't tell it's a good thing. I loved that statement because I own a zmr n what DS stated is fact.

ZMR easily gives an average fuel efficiency of 35-38kmpl under worst riding conditions. If you're sedate you get much more. Best I could manage was 56 when I rode with a friend who was in run-in period.

To answer your question, there could be many reasons why zmr gives better fe.
Couple of them Fi, tyre size..

Though ZMA & ZMR shares same engine there is drastic difference in fuel efficiency.

Its because the ZMR has an excellent FI which optimizes the engine a lot.

Also no matter how smooth the gixxer is, still also it will be running at much higher rpm than the ZMR at same speed. SO the stress on engine will be higher and thus less fuel efficiency.

Moreover comparing a 150 cc bike with ZMR is not fair.

Zmr has loads of torque which helps it to pull without effort. Most 150 cc uses the Horsepower to keep going.

And yeah really, the ZMR returns 50+ easily on highways. Most probably due to super efficient combustion and super relaxed engine.

No matter how much smooth a 150 cc becomes, ZMR is still the king when it comes to touring.

It's among gixxer sf and zmr. No one said cbr is worst.

Guys, lets stick to Gixxer SF here.

To answer the question above, CBR tours better, but costs more too. The actual discussion started with similar MRPs.

I've always thought of the Gixxer SF to be a poser's toy.

And I guess I'll stick to my opinion.

Oh, yes it is. Much like Suzuki-Motorcycles-India's brand-ambassador (poser); no real power, all on screen(visual/virtual).

                        Gixxer's maxTorque @6000 and maxPower @8000 RPMs.
If you ask me, for normal citizens there is no point in going beyond maxTorque RPM as most engines run rich to save engine's health.

This one is really debatable, we had a highly remarkable 100cc hyper-milling lately.

I'm going by ARAI certified mileage : (until some authority comes out with an Indian-Urban-Cycle certification)
Gixxer : 63.5* kmpl => 75% of it, say at least 47.62 kmpl
ZMR FI : 51.0* kmpl => 75% of it, say at least 38.25 kmpl

                        * figures from the internet.

Yes. Agree. But my personal experience for the last ~76000 kms on ZMR consistently gives me ~42-44 kmpl in city and ~50 kmpl (sometimes more) out in the open!
Come, drop in the ZMR thread and you'll certainly find interesting things this not-so-loved bike does.

I got mine a couple of days ago and really liked the handling and the overall feel of riding. Its the best in the segment for me and feels very solid.

I have a question though...I did not get any toolkit with the bike. Did anyone else get one?

                              Congratulations!

Ideally you should get the toolkit. Ask your dealer.
Also, ensure you unfold those RVMs on the road.

I might have missed the discussion earlier.

Can some body tell me the difference between Gixxer SF & Gixxer (non faired) ?

Apart from fairing I didn't notice any difference. Any additional inclusions like Rear Disc Break, Fi or Oil Cooler ?

I am assuming they are charging about 10k more for SF compared to it's naked sibling.
