Yes, I agree on the advantages of a liquid cooled over an air cooled motor!

Diwali is just a few days away and yet no news on the 2017 R3 launch. Looks like Yamaha is going for a 2018 launch now.

I am guessing not before March 2018 because effective 1 April 2018, ABS is mandatory and they are waiting for that date. Just like what a lot automobile companies did for BS4 version. Some petition with the court must be pending.

Nov launch was suspected. But now even I am confused with Yamaha's stand on R3 launch.

Also, ABS ruling has been moved to Apr 2019. So R3 launch has nothing to do with mandatory ABS ruling.

          Hope Yamaha is listening.

Hi everyone, my R3 has done close to 18,000 kms and the stock tyres (especially rear) are completely worn out. Need to change the tyres. I went through the thread and found out different people trying different sets. I wanted to go with pirelli. But there are rumors that the pirelli tyres in bangalore are old stock. Is it true? Has anyone got pirelli recently? How's the quality? Where did you get it from?

              • Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences

And I have come across another major issue which is not letting me sleep. My bike is feeling very rough at speed of 70-120 kmph after the 4th (paid) service done in bangalore wheels. The vibes come down if I cross 120 kmph. But it is still there. I thought it was due to engine oil which I was not happy with (I have been using yamalube fully synthetic). So I got it serviced again early in just after 2600 kms and changed the engine oil. I had ordered the service guys not to put yamalube engine oil. I had went out to bring motul engine oil. By the time I came back to service center, it was quite late as I was held up with some other work. The service guys had put yamalube again. I had also complained about the vibes and rough feeling to the service guys. They did nothing about it. I came back home and took it to airport road to check if the vibes are still present. Sadly there was no change at all even after changing the engine oil. Could anyone help me understand what could be the problem?

Can't comment on Pirelli as I got Michelin Pilot Street set recently. Diablo Rosso 2 is good and Amazon has new stock for 11K set. I would suggest radials only.
For the vibes, if the bike hasn't been dropped, please get the engine mounting bolts tightened and also check if the fairing clips are not missing.
For more engine smoothness and free revving, you can try Motul 300V. It makes all the difference. But I am shifting back to 7100 for better longevity and touring usage next time

I am using Pirelli Angel CiTy. These are not radials and have a lower speed rating than stock (stock is 210kmph, these are 180kmph). The tyres are awesome. Recently did a trip to Kolli hills (70 hair pin bends) and the tyres are simply awesome in grip. I am not sure how good Michellin PSR is as the R3 comes with these outside India and review is not that great.

As far as the vibes are concerned, if its due to roughness in engine, then use SHELL Rimula R4. I know its a HDEO, but believe, no other oil has cleansing and lubricating properties like it. I have used it in all my bikes with great result.

Guys Kawa has opened showroom in Goa now , So i might not wait for R3 anymore but will wait to see if it launched with ABS if not then N300 is way to go but Internet rumors says that Kawasaki might launch new 2018 N300, since it has not launched N300 in their 2018 line up and rumors of N400 also doing around .

Ohh God so much confusion this days

In the current situation, I would not suggest going for any Kawi bike. Most of us owners are suffering due to non availability of the basic spares (like clutch cable). These are only available on back order and takes anywhere from 1-3 months. Also service costs are astronomical. Labour is charged at Rs.1900 per hour. Also they wont directly sell spares to you. You need to get your bike fixed from them as well.

Enquired with 3-4 showrooms here in Mumbai. 2 said its expected in Jan. Will have to take it with a pinch of salt though.
