Done the same. Make sure to cut excess material at tip as it may rub with tyre while shock compresses near maximum limit.

Even I faced the same issue with pillion during bumps.

wow.. no updates in the past 2 weeks! you guys must be busy riding

Well, coming to my question. My bike is 2 months old and 2k in odo. I'm hearing a constant metallic sound once the bike is warmed and it's getting uncomfortable to ride with this noise. Checked in SVC and they said tappet needs to be adjusted and that it would take 2-3 hrs to do this. Is it fine to adjust tappet in a new bike? Will it cause any harm?

And I'm gonna ask again for any good SVC in and around Annanagar, Chennai. I gave my bike for 1st service in Walters Yamaha, Kilpauk and wasn't satisfied with them. Any pointers appreciated.

Thanks.

Tappet sound @2K is unusual, but, many FZ25 owners are having the same problem at an early stage.( Read: during the first 2 services)
But, it is better to get the tappets adjusted as they may later lead to a major fault

Planning to upgrade the stock headlight bulbs, Got two suggestions from old threads, they are

1.https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3270...706104337.html
2. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1xPa...608.0.0.CpCcGf

Do we need any additional settings to fit this ones ? Or any suggestions ?

Hi Guys,

I've had my R15S since December 2015 and I had it modded early on from RaceConcepts. PFB the mods:

Performance:
180cc Big Bore kit
Custom built Free Flow Exhaust
Custom mapped piggyback ECU (PowerTronic)
Tighter clutch spring
Tighter valve spring
Upgraded cylinder head Geometry

Visual:
LED bulbs to replace the shitty stock lamps. Small mod on lamp electrical to light up both sides on both Low beam and High beam.
Fairings originally painted Green(Front mudguard, 2 bottommost side fairings) now painted black

Believe me, even without the Big Bore kit the bike's potential is completely unlocked. The main gain is in the Low and Mid band which do not feel sluggish anymore. Peak power and Torque has also increased. And even though I did not put the exhaust on for sound, man oh man she sounds like a beast now

I saw a few posts here that I may be able to help on:

I have done 9.5k km on the odo. All my services have been on schedule. The last service was done in July.
Ever since the last service, twice it has happened that during a ride, the engine temperature warning light switched on.
At first time, i was able to continue moving and so the light switched off soon enough. This was about a month ago.
At the second time that is today, i was stuck in traffic so I decided to park it aside and switch the engine off. I kept the power on so the fan kept working. And after a few minutes, the engine was able to cool enough so that the temperature warning light switched off. Then I switched off power and let the bike cool a bit more naturally for a few more minutes. I was then able to ride the bike home normally.

My question is- is this normal?
Why is the engine heating up? Could it be too much muck on the radiator because of the rains?
I haven't really washed the bike after the service, and the only wash the bike has gotten since is the rain.
But I did check the radiator after I parked my bike and it looked as clean as it can possibly be during the monsoon.
I also checked the coolant level, it was also normal and sufficiently above the low level mark.
What confuses me most is that the bike has seen hotter days in worse traffic during the summer without any issues. And this is why I am forced to think that the mechanic must have done something wrong during the last service.
Thoughts?
Hoping this is fixed by now. If it was a one time occurrence, leave it be. Might have been just that day, that traffic. If you want, just cycle the coolant with fresh stuff, but in my opinion don't.

If it has occurred again, along with the checks mentioned in previous posts, you might wanna check your cylinder head gasket because it might have warped a little bit. I had the same problem and it was recurring every week or so and it was before the mods were done. Upon opening the engine, we found that the gasket had not only warped but also cracked at one edge. Nevertheless, it was still holding on (gotta give it to Yamaha's resilience). I've changed it since and till date there has not been any problem. Might've just got dealt a bad card on that one

Otherwise, you can contact Race Concept Team in Bangalore, they can ship to Chennai, Price will be around 15000/-, performance will increase upto 5%. And it is good. Below there is the picture.

Wait for the initial 100km, the engine will get adjusted after the service, if not then blame the mechanic who services you bike.

TheArcher84 - can vouch for the RaceConcepts exhaust. Sound is marvellous. Performance is better.

what about round small reflector like P-220 , it can be easily fix on our stock designer reflector of R15-S ,

P220 has a projector setup for low beam. You can opt for projectors on R15 as well. Just ensure bulbs are aligned correctly and they're not blueish, otherwise they'll blind oncoming traffic.

It's my second week and I'm still struggling to get past 100Km, no, I didn't got my number plate installed yet . But coming from Pulsar 150 UG2, which I rode almost 10 years+, I felt, or still feeling uncomfortable with this motorcycle because of the riding posture and for somewhat stiff suspension. Howerver, the power, torque and the handling is very good, even with a pillion.

Quoting from your pros and cons here are some of my thoughts.

My only big problem is the riding posture, I was really sad , for the first 2 days I got wrist pain, then it goes away and comes the back pain, then comes the neck pain. And yes, I'm still trying to adjust myself. Now I feel somewhat adjusted, but I really cannot comment on this as I didn't got any opportunity to go for at least 10KM drive at a stretch.

The small problems are:
1. With 12V 4A battery, they could have given LED parking, indicator and/or tail lights.
2. There's no foot rest with the saree guard.

Can anyone comment on how is Osram Silverstar HS1?
I'm using Osram silverstar HS1 on my FZ-S. It is definitely better than the stock halogen, but not enough on certain occasions. I could see my own shadow in the path of the beam, you can check out my vlog on it... https://youtu.be/2XwDZiWxgl0

Guys I have engine stalling issue . Even after fuel pump and injector cleaning. Idle is 1100 rpm . Tried to increase idle but it didn't go beyond 1100 in hot engine.
In morning when I start my bike engine gets off after 1 or 2 seconds bike start.

Tappets gap was adjusted last week. Its toward somewhat loose (as there is minor noise post 5k rpm).
Inlet tappet - 0.127 mm
Exuast tappet - 0.207 mm

• Yamaha R15-s Valve Sound

Hello Guys. I have purchased Yamaha R15-s on October 2017. I heard a sound from the engine. I thought the sound will go after 1st service being done. After the service, the same situation has faced and i have consulted with the mechanic in showroom and he said for new vehicles the same problem is there. Only after 20000 kilometers the valve has to get changed, then this sound will go, he said. If it is a common factor or anyone facing the same issue, please let me know about this.

Thanks in Advance.

Engine will make sound as its combustion process, there are many sounds coming from engine , from your query its not clear what kind of sound you were referring .
try to make video or give some description of the sound your referring.

My guess is that he's probably referring to the infamous valve clearance (tick tick) sound. Many new R15s have this right from the factory, even the FZ 250s are plagued by this issue. Some R15s even have had ECU faults, brand new bikes.

Cheers!

Exactly, the valve clearance (tick tick) sound. See when i go for long drive the sound is increasing, at that time I use to stop the vehicle and let the engine to get cool for 1/2 hour. During cold start time the sound is less, but when its get heated the sound increases. What should I do?

Need Valuable Suggestions

First, start off with valve clearance and make sure the valve clearances are carried out to spec. Valve clearances are meant to be carried out when the engine is cold, not when the engine is hot. I'd suggest you take your bike to the SVC and get the clearances adjusted.

Cheers!
