Nothing to worry. These are shrinkage chipping after the aluminium is pulled out of the mould similar to water dried from the pool.Originally posted by PrinceCruise View PostJust noticed the below "aging cracks(?)" on my R15S' cylinder block walls last evening, is this okay? -

Funny I never noticed that with my old FZ-16, probably due to the all Black coating?Originally posted by vijaycool View PostNothing to worry. These are shrinkage chipping after the aluminium is pulled out of the mould similar to water dried from the pool.
This view got me thinking for a moment as I'm currently looking at a friend's R15 V2.0 (1.5 years old) and that doesn't seem to have this much of visible cracklings..
For now, I'll assume this is a normal sight, thanks for the confirmation buddy.

I believe its due to the concave shape of the cylinder mould. As it cools the impurities float on the top and as it cools the brittle slag and aluminium cracks. I have in my bike too from day 1 and its 2 years old inching towards 50KOriginally posted by PrinceCruise View PostFunny I never noticed that with my old FZ-16, probably due to the all Black coating?

Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
As i mentioned earlier in the thread, I bought tapered roller bearings from pyramid parts ebay UK and fitted long time before
. Its time to update its effectiveness. Just one word superb , go for it if you got the patience to work or the person who is working for you. It took me almost 6-7 times to remove handle bar and set the tightness just right. Taper rollers should not be moving free like ball bearing. There should be some preload. Too much preload will spoil the bearing and too little also eat the bearings. Feedback is amazing and as light as feather. Changing directions is fast than you think. Let pictures do the talking as everything is self explanatory. I feel I could add 0.5~1mm spacer in the bottom bearing to have proper clearance. At the deepest pothole I do hear clunk but a minor one.
For those who want to try taper bearing, you have to order individual top and bottom bearing. Before ordering contact seller and ask for seals. They will send for free. Total cost including shipping was around INR 2600
Best way to remove the old bearing racers. extension bar with socket will move stubborn seated racers
Rusted Top bearing. It has notched quite a bit
Almost like New Bottom bearing. No signs of wear.
Damaged T stem while removing Inner ball race
Made my own tool to seat the reace
Old seal + New taper roller seal

Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi friends,
I am in Kolkata currently with my 2.5 year old R15S (20XXX kms) and in urgent need of service. I was a regular at the SVC in Rajajinagar and got good service there but not aware of where to go to in Kolkata. Need a competent one as there are a few issues to be ironed out.
pls suggest.

Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi, got my R15S a month ago. I am very happy that I bought it over any other bike. The bike has ~2600 kms on Odo and due for second service in a week or so.
My daily commute subjects bike to diverse road conditions, Highway(10km), Sub Urb roads(5km) and Rural roads with Pot Holes.(5km) and not to mention small trips to Tea Shops.(Late nights).
And right from my First Tank fill it has consistently delivered 55kmpl. Or I doubt whether my method to calculate is flawed. I fill everytime and reset the trip. When fuel blinks I go to Tank fill again. I take Trip Reading X kms / Fuel that went inside y litres. So mileage is X / y kmpl.
Apart from this, occasionally there is a sound from rear discs. But I have started feeling the engine to be free compared to when I bought it.

I am from Kolkata. I last serviced my fazer and one frnd's fz25 at Technocon Yamaha Showroom. The mechanics are very knowledgable. It is located on NH6 in Howrah Ankurhati, just take left after Santragachi Bus Terminus to be on NH6, The showroom is very big, easily can be seen on the right side.Originally posted by supratik View PostHi friends,

Make sure you should be there within 9:00am to avoid getting delayed in the queue.

55kmpl is quite normal for this bike. Dont just rip the bike, just ride naturally. I still get 52kmpl inside city and my bike nearing 50K kms.Originally posted by niazaliahmed View PostHi, got my R15S a month ago. I am very happy that I bought it over any other bike. Re: Radiator.
hello i bought an r15 s on april 25 2018, and gave my bike for the 1st service on may 23 2018. every thing works fine after servicing except some vibrations not all time but its like coming and going. now coming to the point when i gave my bike to the 1st service i noticed they damaged my radiator the fins are bent at 2 positions completely not even slightly. when i asked the mechanic at SVC they said it wont be much of a problem. but since its a very new bike m worried a bit . can i do something about that?Last edited by srikanth444; 06-04-2018, 01:04 PM.

Congratulations on acquiring the R15-S! It is a problem-free bike for the most part indeed.
Regarding the vibrations, it will be more helpful if you can point out exactly what part/area of your bike is experiencing these vibes? As usually vibrations are not very characteristic of a brand new R15.
As a general DIY, You may check all fairing allen bolts are secured properly, and not loose. You can do this with the 6 mm hex key that is included in your tool kit.
Another area that is prominent for vibrations to show up is the piece of plastic between the visor and speedometer, if this is your case then I suggest placing a small piece of sponge/foam between the speedometer console and the plastic cover above it, that should fix it.
Damage to radiator fins must have been caused by inexperienced worker at your SVC aiming water jet directly at the radiator (This should never be done).
A few bends here and there won't kill your radiator, but always better to be careful in the future; try being present at the SVC if you can while they service your bike.
Cheers! Ride Safely.Yamaha YZF R15-S 2016 (Current- Daily Driver)

Re: Radiator.
That's not because of the mechanic but by the washing people. I would say, you wash it thoroughly next time and ask them not to wash, just service.Originally posted by srikanth444 View Posthello i bought an r15 s on april 25 2018, and gave my bike for the 1st service on may 23 2018. every thing works fine after servicing except some vibrations not all time but its like coming and going. now coming to the point when i gave my bike to the 1st service i noticed they damaged my radiator the fins are bent at 2 positions completely not even slightly. when i asked the mechanic at SVC they said it wont be much of a problem. but since its a very new bike m worried a bit . can i do something about that?
