Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
Thanks for the help B7ACKTHORN. Today I have replaced the fuse. Now the front lamp, speedometer, indicator, horn, all the components came to life but when I turn the key and click the ignition switch, nothing happens. Also to inform, fuse stays intact. In this condition, which component should I take a look at first?Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostLast edited by Saravanan Murdlock; 11-07-2019, 08:20 AM.

Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi A.P, I can do my own research but the thing i fear the most is damaging the healthy components in the process. Let me take one step at a time and start off with very basic things. Also "shake down of the harness" was a fancy word for me, I had to check multiple websites to get to know what is harness in a motorcycle and it's shakedown.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostIf a person has the presence of mind to use Google and be a member of xBhp, then all that is required is for us to give them a lead and for them to do their own research.
End of Debate.

You should take the bike to yamaha asc.Originally posted by Saravanan Murdlock View PostHi A.P, I can do my own research but the thing i fear the most is damaging the healthy components in the process. If damage is what you fear then the ASC is the warranted option cause this ultimately is an online forum, i.e you act at your own risk.
'Shake Down' was a figure of speech.
Basically you get a test bulb and then check for shorts, you don't need to be an engineer, just school level Physics is all you need to be aware of.
There is no step by step means to find a short(a good place to start at would be near joints and connectors though after isolating circuit), hence you really do need to use your mental faculties to resolve it, again if you feel you're not up to it, then resort to the ASC.
See a waste of time going to and fro of the obvious as well as things you could easily get from a second of Googling.
Hence next time do us both a favor and research first then get back with queries.

Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
I would suggest you take it to your friendly mechanic first. It's very hard to pin point some of the electrical gremlins unless we can observe it in person. I can speculate on and on, but it will just be a speculative job, and appreciate you trying the method I suggested earlier which yielded another problem. It can be as simple as ground issue or a contact somewhere. I'd suggest you take it your local friendly mechanic first and see if he can find/help with anything. Keep track of all the things that's happening to your bike, and clearly mention it to your mech, what had happened, so that they get an idea too, instead of ransacking the entire wiring.Originally posted by Saravanan Murdlock View PostThanks for the help B7ACKTHORN. Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Thanks B7ACKTHORN, I will reach out to local mechanic and keep you guys posted. There are no experts here brother, just bored guys abusing the internet.Originally posted by Saravanan Murdlock View PostI'm just a rookie here and learning the ropes. I guess you are the expert here.
Here you go;
This is the simplest yet detailed video out there I could find.
Just get any decent 12V bulb and holder and get to testing.
Do listen to the following podcast when you find the time, start from 46:50, it'll go on in detail why not to resort(entirely) to such online forums for motorcycle advice, a must listen for every forum user I'd say.
On this episode we talk to Chris Hardin about how to choose a motorcycle peg that suits you, your bike and the type of riding you do. And Warren Milner talks about how the internet is like the wild west - where it’s difficult to know what information you get for motorcycle repair, mods or gear is va
Cheers.

Yup, no problem. I didn't help in anything really SM, you takes all the effort, and we just pushes it, recommending to explore this and that. Nevertheless, keep your observations posted, I'd be more interested to know the outcome of this one.Originally posted by Saravanan Murdlock View PostThanks B7ACKTHORN, I will reach out to local mechanic and keep you guys posted. Hi B7ACKTHORN, Two of the wires were melted together in right front panel location and shorted the circuit. I have checked RR output and it is within the limits while idling. Now what caused the wire meltdown so that i can take precautionary action to avoid this future.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostYup, no problem. Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi!!! It’s been three weeks I have kept my bike r15s due to lock down . After seeing some posts in fb , I saw DIY methods to maintain bikes during lockdown - this what I did is ... today I switched on the bike , and kept it for idling just for 5 minutes , then took for one small round and then stopped in the parking area and kept it switched on idling for 5 minutes , then switched off. Bike was working good !!
I have doubts
1. The bike was still in the parking area for 3 weeks and today I used the bike . Will the engine have problem or get damaged if I use after the lockdown gets over
2. Will the battery last long ! In case if it’s failure , I ll have to push the bike 1.5 km to the service centre . The starting of the bike mainly depends on the battery .
3. The chain was lubed three weeks back and after that I dint use the bike . Should the chain be lubed again ?
PS : this bike completed one year !
Please help !

Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
The fact that your motorcycle fired up and you were able to ride itself means your bike is in good shape, considering the weeks the bike not being touched. So, make sure, every week, you fire up the bike, go for small ride, say a km or two KMS which is better than letting it idle. If you can't ride, let it idle for 10 mins, mild revs say around 6k twice and then let it idle for a couple of mins and stop, this is the safe and best way, and nothing will happen to the bike. If the bike is uncovered and parked in road, with dusty conditions, it's better to just oil to chain with engine oil mildly and leave it at that, so that it doesn't rust. But, pretty much your bike is taking the lock down good, so nothing to worry.Originally posted by rahulrajan14 View PostHi!!! It’s been three weeks I have kept my bike r15s due to lock down . Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
No activity in this thread. Seems like people moved to different bikes or R15 is not giving any trouble. Time to write my slipper clutch modification which is a long term due 28k km on v3 clutch. My bike is doing healthy nearing 90k on the odo. Lots of spares purchased for 90k service such as fork springs, coolant, filters, spark plug. Iridum plug is now 80k completed. Seriously there is no replacement for this bike.

Absolutely. Everyone's enjoying their little R.
Vijay, would love to hear your slipper clutch modification and do give us a detailed write up with images if feasible. As I always say, this is a bike for a life time.
Cheers!
