  • re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences

    HI Guys,

I need some advice. I had booked an R15s on the 1st, with AIMS Yamaha, Thane. At that time, the guy there told me it would take another 15-20 days for dispatch to get delivered to their place in Bhiwandi. On getting an intimation from Yamaha about dispatch for my booking, I would have to make the balance payment. So far so good, I have seen another vehicle booking also handled that way.

Now, here's the twist. Today, I got a call from the guy at AIMS Yamaha saying there is an R15S that was being processed for another customer, but has run into financing issues. If I make the balance payment, then they would proceed with RTO formalities for my booking.

Is there a catch to this, or does it sound legit?

    Thanks,

    Nandan

You can go and check the bike properly. I don't think there is something fishy...

So I have been facing this one issue lately. The front and rear suspension has become soft for my liking after just 2600 km. At first I thought it was an issue with the tyres but checked pressure and everything was fine. I think the forks have some issue with it. Now I don't know much details about this as its my first bike. Anyone else faced this issue?

You mean to say rear suspension is bottoming out? Front is not too hard but stiff. I have been maintaining 30 psi in the front and 35 psi in the rear. Initial 1000kms suspension is pretty hard now it sets up nicely. I have done 2600kms

Sometimes it keeps on giving me bumpy feedback on smooth road. Front end is stiff but the steering moves left to right easily giving me the feeling that it is loose. The steering had some amount of stiffness than what it is now. Now due to less stiffness whenever I apply break at higher speed, the bike has little bit of sideways movement due to improper balance and gives me a indication that it will fall.

                  1. i owned R15 V1 for 6 years and done almost 80k kms on it , its super reliable and dependable , went to kanyakumari/leh/all sorts of place .
                  2. since then i got GT250R,CBR250,Ninja 250 for brief period , always R15 served as spare/2nd bike
                  3. now after long 8 years i brought again R15S , only coz , the riding position is super comfort for me and the bike is highly reliable

so , as pervious user of R15 and current user of R15S , i can 100% recommend this bike to everyone who willing to buy.

now almost done 700km , and keeping RPM b/w 5000-7000 and some times around 8k mark , first 500km i have kept the RPM level to around 3k-5k level and now that power band is very smooth , initially the 5k-7k rpm band was rough now after riding 200km in that rpm range its getting smoother, will continue in this band till 1000km and then till 1500km will try to rev b/w 8k-9k rpm band. after that will do couple of redlines.

my old R15 V1 was had power in higher band , and mileage i used to get is around 33kmpl , but now the R15S new bike has good power band from 3k rpm all the way up, and most interesting part is mileage i got around 45kmpl . impressive
Hey, how was your service experince today, anything new u got to know?

Since I had done 2100kms of driving not exceeding 6k rpm , I have decided to open up after oil change at 2000km. Vibrations started to reduce as I drive her hard and there is visible glitter in the oil conforming metal components are bedding in. This is contrary what happened to my earlier pulsar 180 engine become rough with ripping. Even after ripping between 7-9k rpm I got surprising mileage of 43kmpl. The odo is close to 3000km and its time for 2nd free service. Nothing to complain for the second service. Though its low on power I am highly satisfied with its ultra refined and reliable engine with unbelievable mileage. If i drive normally mileage exceeds 50kmpl.

                                Hi guys,

At long last, I have got my hands on the R15S White. I was told I would get the manual and service booklet on Monday. So, I don't have anything to read about the dos and don'ts.

I got myself handle grips and a seat cover. Since I prefer to keep things understated, I went for black for both of those things. I'm also getting embossed number plates, since the sticker flies away in some time and I don't care too much about advertising the dealer's name.

I will probably take some time getting used to the posture on this bike. Initially, my left leg gives me a cramp, but it goes away in a minute or so. The back is also making itself heard after the ride. I do feel more comfortable when I grip the tank with the legs and have my back free to move.

My most pressing issue is locating Neutral. I tend to shift down and reach 1st gear. I never seem to go 3-2-N, but instead go 3-2-1. Does anyone else have this issue, or you guys suggest getting it fixed at the service station (can it even be fixed?).

Another thing I noticed is that the front brake is more aggressive than the back. Is that another thing I need getting fixed, or it becomes part of the riding style eventually?

Just to be recapping the posts I went through (again), the initial RPM to look out for is 5k upto 500 km and 7k upto 1000 km, right?

Too many questions, I know, but I'm so excited, so bearr with me.
