    Hello Anunay,

Thanks for sharing your views. Same boat we have sailed and still are, man!
I'm happy that the same niggles were stored out for you and will hopefully for me. I believe this was the only thread on web which helped me in giving a complete owner's perspective of this bike in last 5 6 months when I was looking for bikes, glad to be a part of the same.

Further observations and queries from my end -

    > Everyone has mentioned about the material used to cover the parking light assembly, its not of Yamaha standards for sure. I hope it will stay there in long run, just won't fall out.

    > I'm not of a hard brak-er because I seldom ride in 70+ kmph in city even if the roads are clear, I use more of a pumping style with front and slow but steady with rear, what are your suggestions on that?

    > The seat seems to be built from some hardass stonework. I need to find some cushioning for it but I doubt its available in market.

    > I tried to find the screw for adjusting the light throw angle, but no luck. Mind throwing some light on that? (Pun intended)

    > Also, any suggestion for a great quality 35w lamp which doesn't fork up existing battery and wiring?

    > Will I be able to fit in the V2.0's tyre hugger on my rear tyre? I know its not needed but I still want it. Next 2 months of rain we're looking here man.

I'll keep posting as I remember stuff.

    Thanks.

Ans: If you are talking about the rubber like lids on wither side of the speedometer. No they wont fall off. Not unless you have a major crash.

      > I'm not of a hard brak-er because I seldom ride in 70+ kmph in city even if the roads are clear, I use more of a pumping style with front and slow but steady with rear, what are your suggestions on that?
Ans: 30% rear and 70% front under normal conditions and 40% rear 60% front in the wet conditions, all sports bike follow this rule for effective braking. Use both brakes progressively, not like an on off switch. Pumping brakes makes the bike unstable, may cause skids on gravel or sand.

      > The seat seems to be built from some hardass stonework. I need to find some cushioning for it but I doubt its available in market.
Ans: As a cheap and cheerful method, go to a seat cover shop, and have an inch of foam added to the seat to make it more comfortable. Else you will have to search for gel seats, which are a bit expensive.

      > I tried to find the screw for adjusting the light throw angle, but no luck. Mind throwing some light on that? (Pun intended)
Ans: Right between the speedo meter and the rubber lids that cover the parking lamps are + screws on both sides. turning those screws will move the throw up and down. stop your bike about 10 feet from a wall then switch on the lights and turn the screws, you will find the beam moving up the wall or down the wall. Adjust appropriately.

      > Also, any suggestion for a great quality 35w lamp which doesn't fork up existing battery and wiring?
Ans: Yes, there are many options with same wattage. Check out the Philips ones (Sorry, forgot the actual name of the bulb, just remember Philips)

      > Will I be able to fit in the V2.0's tyre hugger on my rear tyre? I know its not needed but I still want it. Next 2 months of rain we're looking here man.
Ans: Not sure, ask service center guys. In V2 the tire hugger is screwed to swing arm, if R15s shares the same swing arm, there should be holes for the screws. If there are holes, then it is just a matter of plug and play, not extra work needed, else you will have to find a way to fix it to the bike.

      Thanks.

Hey [MENTION=69523]Ankey[/MENTION], thanks a bunch for your time man. Appreciate the response and the suggestions.

I'll see if I can fix the light throw tonight. Regarding the Phillips lamp, somewhere back in this thread people have mentioned both Phillips Crystal Vision and the HS1. But I would like to know which one has brighter spread, without blinding the next person.

        Thanks.

No Problem man. happy to help.
Regarding Bulbs, Nightbreaker and Osrams are also considered good options. Search them on net for prices and reviews.
One more suggestion to everyone, if you guys are not able to find answers to any queries here, post it in R15 V2 thread.
That thread is old and has thousands of owners, who have owned the bike for very long period of time and done lakhs of Kms on them. They are very experienced and will be able to answer questions better. After all the insides of both the bikes are exactly the same. Ride safe.

Guys I've been planning to buy the R15s but never been successful. I have higher capacity bikes which I use but now I'm thinking of R15 as a daily commuting bike for office use which includes equal highways and city traffic (Mumbai).

My main concern is how difficult it is for 6 feet plus people to ride this bike on a daily basis. ? ( I'm 6 feet)

Do these pain keep creeping in or will they stop after a while once my body gets used to it ?
We Bikers are not those who ride to commute , But the ones who commute to ride

                Hello Prince,

I would suggest you with Osram Silverstar HS1 35w bulb. High beam is really good ..
Other bulbs such as Phillips Extreme Vision , osram NB plus are of 55/60w which you can install on low beam ..
If you want to use high beam regularly with this setup low 55w high 35w = Total 90w which is 20w higher than stock , may drain out battery .
Replace pilot lamps and number plate illuminating bulbs with LED and you are good to go ..
If you need assistance in buying Silverstar ,PM me I'll send you the contact person details .. From whom I got mine . Or search on Amazon.
                Regarding Tyre hugger :
Yes you can install V2's hugger on R15s its same chasis and i have confirmed it with SVC as well. [emoji2]

Just back from 5500+ km ride , from Spiti/Leh/Ladhak to Bangalore . Bike was bliss to ride and handle

got fuel efficiency of 58kmpl in high altitudes and around 45kmpl in highways.

now dropped the bike in service center for 3rd service , got few things to fix like switchgear/footpeg/mirror which broke during ride [fall]

Now to fix the light : -

the stock headlight are just OK , so by default they are directed too far and high , one need to fix it, take a suitable screwdriver and turn such a way that the throw of both low and high beam should come around 10-15 feet , it will give excellent spread and intensity and enough in most of conditions [you need to turn those screws a lot for this much short throw]

                    Never do that! Brake linearly.

Thanks D.j. Appreciate the response. So I have 2 options now, guess I'll dig in the threads for owner's experience with both. I don't want to use 55w in low beam even, unnecessary load on battery, though I had installing the LEDs on the places you mentioned in my checklist already, thanks to this forum.
I'm in Pune, I guess your contact will be of Delhi, isn't it?

Will reach out to the SVC guy for availability of the rear hugger.

Well, I should've been more discreet while stating that. For some reasons I picked up the habit of doing that on slower speeds, lets say < 40-50 kpmh, on higher speeds I apply both brakes gradually. However, no denying its a bad habit indeed, so point duly noted and appreciate the suggestion, mod. *thumbs up*

                      Thanks.

It my own personal opinion, I believe this bike is "better" suited for short to medium riders. However I saw freakishly tall guys riding it fine for years, though it looked puny under 'em.

Boy that's some mileage. I've just completed 500 KMs today and I calculated that in last 4.5 liters of fuel, the 1st trip meter showed 210 KMs before hitting the "F" (reserve). I wasn't expecting such for this machine, I mean I never got 35+ in 6 years from my FZ.

                      Thanks.

                        i never got FE more than 33kmpl .. for my 1st R15 V1 which i got in 2008.

new one seems to be differently mapped

I was riding the Pulsar 220 since 4 years, now Iam in a dilemma which one to pick from : Pulsar AS200 or the R15. I am not looking for an upgrade, but looking for a replacement to my 220. The 220 has served me well with equal shares of the quality issues from Bajaj. My decisions are more inclined towards buying the R15S, but what I am concerned about, is the Torque on R15 as I would mostly be riding with a pillion.

I used to ride the 220 maintaining 110kmph on the highways and also 220 had enough torque to carry the Rider+Pillion (Healthy average Indians) on almost all the terrains ie. rough inclined terrains. Would R15S be able to do the same without any issue or heavy downshifting+revving would be required?

Also, i have gone through this thread and have noticed people mentioning that they have been getting 45+ FE (i guessed this might be for the run-in period where one would not take the bike above 4k RPM), would the bike provide the same figures when ridden 5k / 5k+ rpms? A good FE will surely be a plus for me.

It overall sounds like a P220 or for that matter any Pulsar, if you catch my drift.
I contacted the SVC mechanic and he had the same boiler plate response that its common with fairing bikes. No shit Sherlock!!!
heat out-take doesn't burn your legs like in Duke 200, but you can feel it.

I am facing the same sound ....my odo is 200kms...the sound comes after the engine heats up especially in the first and second gear. I don't hear any noise from third gear onwards. Since it's a new engine I am shifting the gears when it is 4 rpm.

                            Should I start shifting at 5rpm ?

I'm 500KMs at odo now, but I have set no such mental limit for RPM where I shift gears especially for first 2 gears, but I think I keep it lower than 4K. However I noticed now that the phrrr phrrr sound comes at after 3.5 - 4K RPM range now and while de-aclerating with engine braking its more prominent.
I'm sure I'm not of much help here for you, sorry buddy.

I am also previous owner of pulsar 180ug3. Though the bike has served me I am not that happy with the quality. Coming to R15, during run in I was getting excess of 50+ kmpl every time. I carried my running till 4000kms by gradually increasing speed and rpm after every 500km after 1500 kms. I never ripped through once i cross 1000 kms on the odo. At around 6K kms engine is completely freed up and smooth like butter. My daily driving speed varies from 50kph to 90kph, shifts at 8k rpm sometimes and mostly around 6k rpm, I got 48 kmpl this time in full city traffic conditions. As you have mentioned it will be a downgrade for you in terms of power, performance and torque but there will be a huge upgrade in terms of quality, almost zero niggles. During my Pulsar days I thought issues are common with the bikes but I got a different dimension now. Its like comparing Laptops with Macbook. People say you get max bang for the buck (vfm) with windows laptops. You will get the feel of it once you start using Mac, one can able to appreciate the quality, reliability of the product. Current Odo is nearing 8K kms and I bought the bike on Jan 28 2016. My friends often comment my R15S as R15(S)plendor as its used only for local commuting and extra ordinary mileage.
