    R15s 12000km report
    Whats good:
    1. Engine , this is one of a gem from yamaha, it can last long for at least 7 years without fuss( touchwood).
    2. Fuel efficiency( all condition 42-50)
    3. Touring comfort.
    4. Brakes.
    5. Handling & tyres

    Not good
    1. Stock low beams (sucks in city) High beam is fantastic.
    2. Low torque under 5k rpm.
    3. Electrical is let down during rains, dont know for everyone but I faced starting problem after i parked bike in rain during a trip.
    4. Hard suspension.
    5. Rear design( I hate it)

*Also I shifted to Motul 7100, completed 1000 km, it makes engine rev more freely and helps attain more than 130kmph without extra effort. Vibes free all the way to 138kmph.

      Hey guys,

I was a silent member but now proud owner of R15 S. Purchased a Track white last month and have crossed 1500 KMs already. I am 39 yrs old and was initially looking at the R3, but at last minute settled for R15. I do not regret my decision now and happy with R15s.

I share the same pros and Cons as you all mentioned already.

However, i took a 500 km journey after the first service last weekend, i had a problem with my bike
after 200kms into th eride, i started pushing the bike above 5k RPM, i hit 7K rpm once with 98km/h. After this, the bike started hit rpm limiter and wasn't able to reClick image for larger version

the needle got stuck in 6800 rpm some times and 6500 rpms too. I went to yercaud and since uphill and downhill was no probs, coming back, myself and my co rider put ome thoughts onto what was wrong. Luckily, we were reminded of the RTO paper copy that we placed underneath the seat. we thought why not take it out, since there was a airhole beneath it. VOILA !!!, the vehicle was into its own, ie.., free revving till 7500 hitting 110 with ease on return journey.

So please be aware do not keep paper docs in the compartment underneath the seats.

The journey was perfect - learnt the bike's characteristics with caution while going uphill and slowly build confidence while coming downhill. I was able to lean, take more speed while taking U bends, it was hoot to drive.

Relished the drive, after a long time.

Saravanan_n - I am 5.4. so yes, not too short, but fairly comfortable touching the ground while at the saddle.

Tyre pressure is at recommended numbers, got it checked.
I check mileage once the bike hits reserve - "F" and then after refueling, F to F.

            Thanks.
Please check the CO setting. Some mechanics unnecessarily alter those setting causing mileage dip. Same happened to me after 2 nd service and got fixed the same.

            • R15s starting problem when parked under sunlight

My R15s clocked 10k kilometres refuses to start whenever tank gets heated up due to sunlight. Starter motor runs but engine will not start even with tank full of fuel. Only starts under 20+ seconds of cranking with mild throttle input. Changed fuel pump under warranty last week but still problem persists. Once bike gets started no stalling issue. Tired of searching for shade under parking place. Xbhpians please help.

Thanks for the response man. Due to the lack of time I'm not able to go to the SVC, but by this weekend I'll have it checked.

I'd say that looks neat. No need to cut it more in my honest opinion because then it will just be a mud splasher for the people behind you.

Recently my friend, instead of tinting them, put a black dotted net over his indicators. I just wanted to know your comments about it. It cost the same as tinting. Is it actually good looking. Never seen one of this before.Click image for larger version

The indicators look good, but only if the intensity and brightness of the bulb inside is not affected.
Remember, the job of indicator is to tell the person behind you that you are turning left or right.
I don't think that a person will be able to see them blink on a bright sunny day.
As a result you will give the indicator to turn right, it won't be visible enough to the person behind you, you will turn right and the person behind you will kiss the back of your bike.
Please make sure that the blinkers are noticeable on a good sunny day, if yes, go ahead, it looks great. If no, not worth the risk. you never know how much speed the person behind you is carrying before you come in contact, just because he couldn't see your fancy indicators.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Seconded. Unnecessary cosmetic changes which interfere with core function must be avoided, like this one. I don't think I'll be able to see the blinkers in any good day.

Whenever this happens just open the fuel cap and see if it starts immediately. If yes then change the fuel cap. If no then the problem lies with your fuel delivery pipe to the injector. Get it changed under warranty. Had this issue which was solved by changing the gas cap(the entire lockset as the gas cap doesn't come separately). Though i think your issue is with the fuel delivery pipe as your bike doesn't stop once it starts which will happen when there is vapor in the fuel line.

                                CHEERS.
