Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi guys,
I own an R15S which is 6 months old and reads 4.2k on the odo, got the 3rd service done at 4k. There was a sound(tak tak) coming from the front shocks whenever I went on a hump or a pothole. The issue was resolved after 3rd service, but now after jus 200kms the issue has surfaced again, and this time it's even worse, feels as though the shocks aren't fitted properly and can fall off anytime.
Anybody here faced the same issue before? What might be the problem? I'm really scared to drive.
Thanks

Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
1) there is nothing much in manual to be concern of just dont rev high until 3rd service
I suggest not to hope over 5-7k rpm before 1000-1200 mark
2) your engine oil will changed on the time of your 1st service
3) your wish after all its your bike and you gonna ride it
4) it will take around 4 weeks you can check it with your showroom personals they will provide you a slip which you have to take to the rto office

Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
I agree with last three the point but disagree with first one. In my opinion manual is a must as it not only tells you about your bike but also basic troubleshooting that you can do before coming to a conclusion in case of a problem. I understand we live in an era where we have good amount of service center around us but having knowledge about troubleshooting steps is not bad at all. Hence, in my opinion its a must to have manual with you. As far as run in period ia concerned manual says keep engine below 5k rpm for first 500 km and 7k rpm for next 500 km before the first service.Originally posted by Shubham Bhargav View Post1) there is nothing much in manual to be concern of just dont rev high until 3rd service

Never came across such issue with my bike. I would recommend to get it checked by service centre guys. Take them for a short ride to show them the issue.Originally posted by ManjunathD0934 View PostHi guys,

Try to get your handle bar tightened by service folks ..Originally posted by ManjunathD0934 View PostHi guys,

What D.j said is to be noted, tighten the T stem lock nut. Secondly, also check your coneset bearings, you never know, they might have gone bust. Usually a tak, tak sound in the front stems from a worn coneset caged bearings and or a loose fork T stem, but a loose T stem has a different feel to it.Originally posted by vinay21987 View PostI agree with last three the point but disagree with first one. Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

What life span (kms) for motul 7100 u r getting .Originally posted by Anunay View PostR15s 12000km report
Whats good:
1. Engine , this is one of a gem from yamaha, it can last long for at least 7 years without fuss( touchwood).
2. Fuel efficiency( all condition 42-50)
3. Touring comfort.
4. Brakes.
5. Handling & tyres
Not good
1. Stock low beams (sucks in city) High beam is fantastic.
2. Low torque under 5k rpm.
3. Electrical is let down during rains, dont know for everyone but I faced starting problem after i parked bike in rain during a trip.
4. Hard suspension.
5. Rear design( I hate it)
*Also I shifted to Motul 7100, completed 1000 km, it makes engine rev more freely and helps attain more than 130kmph without extra effort. Vibes free all the way to 138kmph.
I m using mobil 1 4T 10 w 40 and its runs for minimum 5000 kms with no lose of oil. Actually there is issue with availability of mobil 1. So i m looking for motul. I doubt motul life span.not a hard racer, but love to drive.

Done 14,200 km on my super reliable machine. Did 850 km round trip of Bangalore-Sakleshpur-Mangalore-Udupi. Did continous 110-120 kmph for hours. Engine has become a breeze now. No issues faced till date. Posting some pics of my journey.

I am using motul 7100 since 10800 km and now it is 14200 km. The Motul is stil l performing well with no visible decline in oil level. Worth money I believe.Originally posted by vjxm View PostWhat life span (kms) for motul 7100 u r getting .

Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hello respected members.
My name is Chintan Purohit. I started search for big bike few months back. And then I finalized Honda cbr250 r. But after seeing this post, I got interested in R15S. I rode the bike today. It was very short ride, but I managed to reach 90kmph. Can any of members help me which to choose amongst cbr250r and R15S. I know they are different segments. My requirements are
1. Touring bike which can do 110-120 easily.
2. Occasionally speed burst of 130.
3. Less on maintenance and great reliability. leech sir, can you put some input?

- cbr is 250cc and yammy is 150cc
- cbr is trusted touring machine like p220, karizma, zmr for their comfort...
- any bike above 200cc can do 110-120 all day..
- cost of ownership depends on how u take care of machines
- these days reliability depends on many things... U can consider honda a reliable these days also.. ofcourse cbr spare parts cost u more if u compare with above three motorcycle

I know about the engine capacity of CBR and R15s.
I just want to know whether yammie can do 110-120 whole day?.
On some posts here, I read that cost of maintenance in yammie is more than cbr250.
Thing is, if yammie can do 110-120 while day it can do things which I need and I may end of saving 70k. Else, Honda is final.
