Currently I am riding Splendor NXG.(last 6 years), and I am very tired with the bike.
So please suggest me a good bike , mu requirement are as follows-
    1) Min 45 kmpl mileage (city)
    2) Not more than 90k
    3) Good pick up
    4) Cheap to Maintain
    5) Long lasting ( I'll use it min 5 yrs)

So, I am 5,9" and weighing 90 kgs ( reducing weight ) please suggest me a Good Bike.
    Thank you.
Welcome to the forums follow citymate.

It all boils down to your budget and riding requirement. Given that your max budget is 90k, there may be Suzuki Gixxer and Yamaha FZ series will br good choice but in Pune they'll cross 1 lac I believe. But both will fit your requirement.

You may go for Bajaj bikes but reliability in long term might be an issue.

I didn't really get a lot of time recently however today I went ahead to the main city area(Nana Peth) to look for some replacements of possibly all the bulbs.

Replaced the parking lights with 2 normal white wedge LEDs, the illumination is good and it can be seen from a good distance. So these are the DRL for me.

Couldn't find any LED tail lamp alternative for the kind of buld type R15S has, but I found a same filament type bulb of 12v 10/5W so I installed it. The OEM one is of 12v 21/10W, so I think I'm saving some 10/5 watts there(STOP/NORMAL).

Also got 4 LED parking indicators, replaced all 4 turn indicators with those LEDs myself.

Now, I got one 12v 60/55W OSRAM BILUX H4 type bulb(P43t, 64193). The OEM ones are same OSRAM BILUX HS1 12V but 35/35W, thus I thought of keeping the same manufacturer and H4 is a direct fit to HS1. Costed me 100 bucks only.

I replaced it myself, didn't go out today as I type so can't really tell the difference as of now. However my query is(pardon me if this has been asked before) -

        - Am I saving enough amount of power with the parking/turn LEDs and smaller tail lamp I just replaced with that I can use that for 55w?

        - I'll be using that new 55w bulb in low beam and I in city ride only with low beam(35w high beam will be only for either flashing or highways at night), still I'm concerned that will it have any adverse effect on the stock battery or the reflector of R15S?

        Thanks in advance.
Please let us know the review of it. Any serious power drop, battery discharge and of course the low beam illumination.

        Thanks

Hi Anunay, I have an update on this since I rode in late evening and night for around 3 4 hours since I got the bulbs replaced -
I certainly can feel a little difference, just enough to justify the 20W increase. The low beam intensity is definitely higher than before and the spread is also a little more deeper. But I'll need to adjust the focus to find some sweet spot.
Late evening ride doesn't make any difference but in pitch dark or in a lone road you can feel the difference. The incoming traffic's glare still kills the illumination of this bulb too.
I use to run with the old 35W low beam running all the time before as my drl, but I'm not doing that anymore, just the led pilot lamps, to save battery.

Oh, I observed just one thing which I'll be keeping a tab on for a few weeks, and that is I found the low beam reflector a little hotter than usual. It may be early to conclude this, so next update a week or so later. Also, too early to notice any power drop and battery discharge.

          Thanks.

Buddy, post this in the What bike section, you will get tons of replies.

IMO, from the budget and your constraints, Honda Hornet seems a good buy.

On the highways even the stock light seem good. Its in the streets and alleys of town that the limitation of the stock reflectors of R15 come to the fore. You can adjust the vertical and horizontal alignment a bit to find a bit of comfort zone. Second you on the DRL thing. The reflector will get a bit hot and avoid any sort of water/mositure inside the headlight assembly. The reflector will start to peel off. That was the reason for me going for the projectors.

Yeah, I reckon that, I remember coming back from Satara-Pune highway by around 8PM and the low beam with default 35W bulb didn't disappoint but didn't impress either, probably because everyone from the other incoming side of stretch was on high beam, even the scooters. I'm yet to take it again on highway at night time to see how much difference did it make or will it.

Though after riding in late evenings for a week now, I can safely say that I can see a difference in low beam spread and intensity, even in the city. Not by a huge margin but after adjusting the focus, its better than default. I'm not sure about the horizontal alignment, the only adjustment I do is to rotate that one screw on both ends for low and high beam, that as per my understanding and observation only moves up and down the throw. Is there anything I'm missing? I'll be glad to have that confirmed please.

Another question now, how to absolutely prevent any water going inside the main headlight assembly? I just had the bike washed up, I made sure that there's no water inside the reflectors afterwards.

Details on your projector setup and your experience would be appreciated if you have some time to spare.

                Regards.

There are three screws for headlight adjustment. one below the screw you said and another at the bottom part of the headlight assembly.
On your second question even i was unable to find out how but some moisture went inside and the reflector peeled off.
The projector set up was done at home. Started with 2 ended up with 4 just for show. Chinese ones so light was not awesome. The low beam projector had 4300k hids so when one of it fused i changed back to stock set up.

Why on earth those screws are at that ungodly position I don't understand, however thanks for pointing it out mate. I'll see if I can do something there.

I got a chance to do a short ride of 210 KMs on Pune-Solapur highway(NH65 I believe) yesterday. I purposely left late at 4PM so that I could test the lighting on highway in late evening and with the usual highway traffic. I'd say I found a little increase, but no so much to increase my confidence in high speeds. Also the fact that the cars and trucks from the other side of divider were mostly on high beam. My high beam was mostly null help in visibility whenever I turned it on to see what difference does it make.

I'll really have to find a sweet spot by adjusting the hell out of both the beams, I'm not 100% happy with either of them. On the other hand, the bike behaved so well at high speeds I almost forgot its a 150 cc mill underneath. After 6K RPM, this thing goes like a rocket. I touched max 123 KMPH at 9K RPM, against the cross wind. Didn't push it much, kept it at 100-110 KMPH where it shines the best.

                    Thanks.

I didn't know if it was even possible to mess with the CO setting on a fuel injected bike. Is there a screw similar to a carb ? Where to locate it?

I believe that's possible by using the Yamaha FI toolkit. I haven't seen one with my SVC though, will need to check at the main SVC.

Yamalube FS is a good oil compared to a lot others in the market and if the company like Yamaha has selected this particular oil for this particular bike, its for a reason.
I believe it will void the engine warranty if you use any other oil than Yamalube but I'm not 100% sure.

Yamalube is manufactured by Motul. It is oil specially manufactured for Yamaha motors by Motul.
So actually you are currently using Motul oil only. If you still wish to change, you can do it after all the free services are over. The service center guys will not refuse if the oil you want falls in the recommended category by Yamaha (the recommended grade is given in User manual).

Thanks. If yamalube is manufactured by motul, I dont think theres a reason to go for any other oil.
Speaking of user manual, I should expect a proper user manual for r15S right? I read here one of the guys didn't get it.

yes brother, it is motul oil only, the only difference is the Yamalube packaging, no other difference.Google it and you will find it. In fact Yamalube is specifically manufactured for Yamaha, so it is tailor made to suit Yamaha bikes. Still people may use other oils, because they may feel it is better or makes bike smoother or any other reason. As long as the grade of the engine oil is same as recommended by Yamaha (given in user manual), there won't be any warranty issues.

yes user manual should have been provided along with the bike. If not provided keep pestering the dealer till you get it.
