I didnt buy the MT-09 thoughOriginally posted by Anunay View PostGive some more details.
Took delivery of my R15s White/Blue combo on Saturday. Couldn't control the rush to ride a new bike. Took it for a spin today morning in ECR road in Chennai. Rode it for about 100 kms round-trip.
Initial impressions - Bike is classic to ride on empty road, Nice amount of power and torque available for a 150cc mill. Having downgraded from a SBK to a smaller SBK is fun
.
Riding position is taking a toll on my palms and shoulders. Need to get used to the riding position. Bending the elbow a bit actually helps.
Did not cross 4.5k rpm, but varied the RPM range across the gears to stress the engine a bit and feed in the power slowly. bike responds like a F1 sterring wheel. Braking is phenomenal. The rear brakes are branded as Nissin, does the front one also carries the same ??

One question I wanted to ask to the owners here -
Why is the service interval so short, I have been asked to give the bike for second service just after 70 days from the previous one. And it rakes upto almost 6 services a year. Is this really necessary ?? (Leave the warranty though)
Please throw some light.R15S - Current

Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
Congratulations buddy. I love the r15 looks too. About the services, Yamaha recommends 3k kms service interval for the FZ too. You see, the r15 is cheaper than the CBR250, but more expensive to maintain. We get 6k service interval for the CBR. Also cheaper parts.Originally posted by TheArcher84 View PostI didnt buy the MT-09 though

Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
Yeah, Thats true, CBR has 1k (30 days), following that 6k/6 months which is very good. Why is R15 having such short Service interval. Anyways the Labor is free for the first 5 services. But 70 days for a service is too short.Originally posted by leech View PostCongratulations buddy. I love the r15 looks too. I can understand your feel to rush it on the roads..
I had the best opportunity to understand how my bike behaves the day I bought it riding 800 odd kms in one day

folding your elbows will help a lot.. but the only option is getting used to the riding position..
Some pics of your ride pls

Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
On 25th August,2016 is welcome day of my new r15s to my home.after a long study from my friends opinions several sites and also xbhp I am decided to go for r15s.and after 5 days I dont say you that I am right but it's going towards right path for me.About my experience till date I am very happy with it.its looks, engine sounds, throttle response, decent speed, little problem with gear shift (may be it can be removed after 1st service).
I have a question to ask you all experts that I have no manual so where I can get that?
Secondly all ready covered 300 km in o do,if it is time to change the engine oil.I am from kolkata.please suggest a engine oil name?
Third one can I change the clutch and break lever with adjustable levers.?
Fourth is when I got the rto clearence or expected date for getting the number plate or registration book?

1) Inform the showroom guy and check with him as to why they haven't provided owners manual.Originally posted by @Sayan View PostOn 25th August,2016 is welcome day of my new r15s to my home.after a long study from my friends opinions several sites and also xbhp I am decided to go for r15s.and after 5 days I dont say you that I am right but it's going towards right path for me.About my experience till date I am very happy with it.its looks, engine sounds, throttle response, decent speed, little problem with gear shift (may be it can be removed after 1st service).

2) Change the engine oil only at the recommended service interval which is 1000 km for first service. Yamalube is used by service center guys, you can also go for Motul.
3) Yes you should be able to change the break and clutch lever with the adjustable one. Check with service center guys during your first service for pros and cons.
4) For my scenario, after my bike was registered, number plate arrived in two days. Got it fixed and collected the bike. RC book or registration book arrived after 1-1.5 months.
