The R15's mono shock has a rising rate linkage which takes care of the pre load sag and varies the dampening rate. The FZ16 and the CBR150R, for example have the mono shock mounted directly on the swing arm and therefore have pre load adjustment for the spring. The R15's setup is superior to FZ16 and CBR150. . The FZ though has a 7 step adjustable rear suspension. But its just the preload adjustment of the spring, which according to me is not too noticeable in day to day riding.

I always thought these two bikes have the same rear shock.
Ride safe and have fun.

Thanks man! The bike's actually so much fun, i miss it the very next minute I get off of it. And regarding your question, actually they're both silver. At that time, one had a plastic cap on and other didn't.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostFirst off congrats. Secondly, one little eenie meenie question from my side.
Did you care to ask your dealer why the right side of your fork bolt cap, is black in color and the left is silverish?
Cheers!

Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
to all friends, I need some info & am looking for a bike suited to touring, R15s is also one of my choice as it is reliable and can ride at high speed (100-110 km/hour) for hours.
1) In top gear, at what rpms it does 80 km/hr, 90 km/hr and 100 km/hr?Kindly reply with rpm and speed.
2) What fuel efficiency one can expect by consistently riding at 90-100 km/hr at 5th gear on highways?
3) Is the windblast tolerable at 100km/hr?
Help me. You can reply in this thread or PM me or you can reply in my "what bike" thread - "A bike only for Touring under a budget of 1 lakh to 1.7 lakh rupees"

1. IN top gear it does 100kmph @ 7000 rpm , 80kmph-90kmph comes between 5.5-6k rpmOriginally posted by fullmoon View Postto all friends, I need some info & am looking for a bike suited to touring, R15s is also one of my choice as it is reliable and can ride at high speed (100-110 km/hour) for hours.

2. The new R15 can give constantly around 38-43kmpl in those highway speeds
3. Windblast is not problem in R15
i previously owned R15V1 which i personally felt has little bit more power marginally but downside is i never got anything above 32kmpl fuel efficiency. BUT my New R15S easily i can get above said figures
i had earlier both CBR250 and GT250R with big windscreen/visor but best wind protection i got is from R15 , i guess the design makes difference

nagoo, are you saying you owned r15 v1,CBR 250 & GT 250R? why you got R15 S then?Originally posted by nagoo View Post1. IN top gear it does 100kmph @ 7000 rpm , 80kmph-90kmph comes between 5.5-6k rpm

anyway, thanks for your info. But now I have a big doubt, there is an youtube channel named JTRipper saying in his motovlog that R15S has 2 valve & R15 V2 has 4 valve and both doesn't sport same engine. It is really shocking for me whether to believe this or not
. That youtube video says even R15s has flat response in mid range rpm and very slow in building revs compared to r15 v1. Is R15s has openloop FI system (no O2 sensor) or Closed loop FI like CBR, RS200 & Gixxer SF and Upcoming RTR 200 FI?

stop following those youtube channels , check official specs of R15S , its the same engine , only tuning is slightly improved and new ECU map.Originally posted by fullmoon View Post@nagoo, are you saying you owned r15 v1,CBR 250 & GT 250R? why you got R15 S then?

On me getting R15s , well needed 2nd bike for local commute and wife not comfortable on GT , so has to get S model , no other bike comes close with reliability/tech/style to R15. V1 has to sell after owning it for 7 years and 80k kms on odo

@nagoo, I do respect your opinion. But have you ridden your YZF R15 V1 & R15 S BACK TO BACK? Even If you see the Yamaha motor India website, the features mentioned for R15 V2 & R15 S is not same, allowing me to become more suspicious. Since you owned both, kindly answer my queries below when comparing to your YZF R15 V1Originally posted by nagoo View Poststop following those youtube channels , check official specs of R15S , its the same engine , only tuning is slightly improved and new ECU map.

1) Is there fairing vibrations in R15S?
2) Is it flickable and handles good like your R15 V1?
3) Is the fi system same as your old one (open loop)?
4) would you compare the speeds at 8k rpm,9k rpm & 10k rpm at 5th & 6th gear?"If you care enough for a result, you will most certainly attain it."

Re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
I'm doing 80km/hr @5.2-5.3K. Tires at recommended PSI and it also depends on whether it's windy or not. And at 100km/hr, you will feel less drag than that of naked bikes, but the pillion rider feels the wind resistance if he/she is not sitting parallel to my back.Originally posted by fullmoon View Postto all friends, I need some info & am looking for a bike suited to touring, R15s is also one of my choice as it is reliable and can ride at high speed (100-110 km/hour) for hours.

And the top speed I was able to reach was 122-125km/hr.

In Yamaha website its Same specs for both bikes , just measuring metrics are different.
1. No vibration in R15S, if you have then check and tighten the screws , especially on Visor
2. Yes , its handles similar to V1 [not same, as V2/S has slightly longer wheelbase]
3. FI system has same specs , but different vendor and ECU also different vendor
4. i didn't find much different wrt, rpm , old one also does 100kmph @7k rpm , same with New one , only Top speed got reduced in new one and on the positive side the new one has good power distribution

For your information, that JTRipper is totally bullshit and he thinks that his own Apache 200 RTR is the best bike in the world! He doesn't even know how to ride in a road and just by wearing a jacket and gloves and having a GoPro, he's boasting himself as a rider! But in reality he is just a bullshit who don't know anything!Originally posted by fullmoon View Postnagoo, are you saying you owned r15 v1,CBR 250 & GT 250R? why you got R15 S then?

If you notice it carefully, you will find that he's always trying to degrade all R15's. So stop watching his videos!
