re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi Supratik,
Thanks for that immediate response. Much appreciated. Now I apologize if I sounded silly with my query. But you need to understand that we all have different aspects of thinking, and that's the reason I am here, seeking response from the current owners.
Anyways... That ratio meant: How satisfied are you with the bike for investing your hard earned money?
Now here's a little about myself: And I've been riding a Dio from the past 6.5 years. I rode many of my friends' bikes and Yamaha R15 v2 was my favorite since college days. Since the pillion seat was non-family-ish...I had kept it at bay. But after seeing the R15 v1 come back with the fatter tire, I began considering this as my first ever motorcycle.
Well....I don't come from a rich background and it took me over 2 years to save 1.5L with the little salary that I earn. Hence, that's the reason why I was so skeptical about the investment. I plan to buy an LS2 after the bike, which comes not less than 4.5k nowadays. Anyways...We're not here to discuss about my financial worries...I just needed feedback from the owners over that money:satisfaction ratio regardless of the OOMPH factor or any other thing.
The reason why I mentioned abt all those features is because my mind gets confused when I share my decision of buying an R15s with my colleagues and friends...owners of the pulsar 220/NS/RS, KTM RC, etc. They tend to make me feel that the bike is a bit outdated for today.
Nonetheless... I posted my query here so as to get a firmness to my decision. And I expected people like you to be more expressive about your personal experiences with the bike (keeping away the their entire day's stress etc) rather than being a critic to what I said. Once again, forgive me if I sounded silly.
Undoubtedly motorcycling isn't about all these talks...In the end...As quoted in Monk's signature: biking is not about what you have between your legs, it is about how well you use it! [emoji3][emoji39]
Also, Looking forward to know how well this bike fares while amidst amazingly slow B2B traffic scenarios.
Thank in advance!

1.It has got a robust engine, brilliant chassis, and hence a track tool dynamics. Also good for long distance touring(my personal experience), Bad in traffic situation. Excellent mileage and top end speed.
2.Compare with other, gixxer sf (fi and disk) will give you parallel experience, excellent in traffic, easy in pocket with good build quality.
3. AS200 , RS200, i have 1 RS200 parked in garage, one of my friend got into accident because one of the culprit of the case being eurogrip(slip) tyres. I have ridden the bike thoroughly, and must say the engine will breakdown after 3 years of usage, it will give up. Chassi also gives squeaky noise, unable to find out which part. Engine refined but not so as compared to silky yamaha, honda, suzuki.
4. You can go for Cbr 150r, though , little relaxed position and refined engine, will cost 5k extra. Good for comuting and touring.
I would personlly suggest you to go for gixxer sf fi, dual disc(going to launch soon, april i guess), full on value for money as it is less than R15 and good for comuting.)

Yamaha YZF- R15s
Hi Arunay... Thanks for the response brother. I'm glad you understand my problem. I saw your video on YouTube.
About RS. I rode it too. It's by far the smoothest pulsar, but I'm not a bajaj fan. Thats like a VFM but not a Trustworthy bike.
About the Gixxer SF Fi, I really like that bike and it's torque along with that comfortable posture. Just gotta wait till the Fi version comes and TD to find out.
But in the end...I have a feeling that I will purchase the Yamaha itself. Hehe. Because I love that brand. Also, is the FI system on R15s an open loop or closed loop?
Anyways...I stay near Hebbal. Can we meet up sometime if you don't mind?

Its an open loop, but got enough sensors to match the engine needs according to weather, temperature, high speeds, no cold starts. Till now it has kept me happy. No niggles , going to complete 5000 km in 2 or 3 days.Originally posted by SultanUM View PostHi Arunay... Thanks for the response brother. I'm glad you understand my problem. re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
Totally agree with your explanation. Only those people who have some kinda personal experience with yamaha can understand the meaning of refinement, engine life and long term reliability. My vote is with r15 because of its plus points and that x factor which attracts you towards it like no other bike can. Yamaha's design language makes them unique. See, if you have problem with riding posture than you can think of baby cbr and gixxer sf.Originally posted by Anunay View PostBrother, I understand your concern, R15s

I would like to share my experience with you I currently own a R15 V2.0 , Pulsar 220, Yamaha FZ-S.
I was in the same dilemma as yours , but for me decision was clear as I wanted a proper sport bike look and fairing .. Whereas RS does not have a neat fairing and when I personally checked RS there were uneven panel gaps .. Even the stickers were of bad quality.. I personally don't like the tail light ...[emoji34]
R15 is super refine which I found was missing from my Pulsar ...
No vibrations, silk smooth engine , reliability , proper fairing with a SBK look .. Dedicated riding position..
I have ridden my Pulsar 20k kms in a year and I find it very easy for me too maneuver in traffic .. The bike will pick you right after 110kmph to 135-140kmph very quickly in 5th gear (takes time to reach 155kmph [emoji6]) you will feel the power of 21 horses pulling you ...
R15 takes time in 6th gear to reach 140 from 110kmph .. (But who is going to ride that fast)
Yes the projectors will offer you a very bright light output on road ..but you can upgrade your R15 bulbs and you will get the sufficient light you want .
I have ridden R15 for 8-9 days and 1000km and still am getting used to it and she feels more comfortable now ..
Now for you : If you are ok with the riding posture everything is fine and once you get used to the bike you will love it even more ..
Point is you get everything with the amount of time you spent on the saddle and no. of kilometres you put in on the speedo.
About speedometer :
I personally feel that the R15 speedometer is more agile and dedicated as the riding posture , it gives premium feel and with lights on it looks awesome with lighted RPM Needle [emoji7]
For me Console RS looks to be more of commuter type , though it provides alot of information but it definitely lacks the premium feel(no offense to any RS owner) and I love the Console of my Pulsar 220 ..
Comparison of Pulsar 220 is to give you brief insight about the acceleration in triple speeds. I do not redline the bike so for top speeds I heavily depend on the final gear ..
While on R15 you will not feel too much of air ballast when cruising at triple digits or above 90kmph while on RS because of its upright position it will make you feel a difference(not too much though).
For VFM thing :
Yes the no. on the paper and in flesh speaks for RS , and if you get the ABS version , its the best VFM deal in market now ..
Last but not the least:
My FZ is 6years old and done 65k kms and it is super reliable and smooth , until recently my brother rode it without engine oil for 25-30kms . Yet to get it checked what all gone bad .Apart from no issues till date ..
This is one of the reason to choose Yamaha ... [emoji2]
All the best for your purchase ...
Guys please don't post that I can beat pulsar 220 with my R15 , like that stuff .. As I have already commented both are of different segment ..Last edited by D.j; 03-03-2016, 02:03 AM.>>>>Beware of Zombies<<<<

as per my knowledge, i think from 2015 model R15 v2 & R15S have o2 sensor at exuast. so its closed loop FI system.Originally posted by SultanUM View PostHi Arunay... Thanks for the response brother. I'm glad you understand my problem. I saw your video on YouTube.

I would make two recommendations to you, since I had considered them myself and also the reason why I chose one over the other. Not able to gather what your cumulative experience of riding a geared motorcycle is and assuming that you rode the Dio much more than motorcycles.Originally posted by SultanUM View PostHi Supratik,

R15 - If the above is true then this is the perfect first bike to start with and gives you max bang for buck. Its reliable, dependable, the service intervals are too frequent for my liking but dont cost much especially if you stick to mineral oil at least for the first 10k. The S is not V1, its mechanically identical to the V2 with the only difference being the single seat and the non LED tail assembly. The low end power will keep improving as you start putting in more miles and life in traffic wont be as bad. Much has been made about the aggressive riding position, I see it as a perfect initiation into the world of serious motorcycling and if I, at the age of 36 can get used to the posture am sure a young turk like you wont have any issues, unless of course you have some back problems. Where you will feel let down once you start getting better at riding (which you will on this bike - provided you have a sane head on your shoulders) is the lack of outright power. Borrowing your analogy on value for money, the way I see it is you get what you pay for; when I bought it I had a budget in mind and the lack of bhp was the compromise I was willing to make, after all, most decisions in life are about what compromise to make.
Duke twins - Based on a short test ride of the two, the manic nature of the engine will plaster a smile on your face, especially the 390, which, along with its ABS and Metz is perhaps the best VFM bike one can buy in India. Wont get into more details because this isnt the right thread, I didnt want to splurge more on the 390 even though I could and feel its more bang for the buck than the R15, is because I am fairly new into motorcycling and wanted to be sure that this pursuit is for keeps. Between the 200 and the Yam, I felt I was better off with the latter given my inexperience, also saving myself more than 20k with the added cushion of reliability and the opportunity to experience a supersport bike.
To cut a long story short, test ride the options and see what tugs at your heartstrings, if still undecided, its hard to go wrong with the Yam. Am part of a riding group where many have ride bikes >600cc capacity and most had cut their teeth on the Yam
In conclusion, I would rather that you are modest about your bike purchase and splurge on your riding gear, after all you would want to be on the saddle for many years. I see that you are looking at LS2, I would recommend the MT Axxis/Blade or SOL. Also get yourself a good riding jacket with CE certified armors and knee guards if you cant afford riding pants immediately (the bionic guards may scratch the tank though) and ankle length leather boots. Again, if budget is a constraint pick up standard army issue leather boots over a full fledged pair of riding boots.
Good luck and ride safe

re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
Mileage update: 1900km on the odo and with 100% city riding, yamaha continues to impress me with its mileage. This time I got 49.5kmpl with lots of idling and liberal 6K shifts and ride between 50-70kmph. I have not taken the bike to 100kph yet. The max I touched is 90kmph, I believe modern engines do need proper run-in. I am going to redline only after 5K on the odo.

re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
With my current riding requirement, I dont need to touch the rev limiter at all. I will be happy to cruise 100-110 kph all day rather than ripping the engine. Red lining is to check the engine at all rpm. I remember when I bought pulsar 180 ug3, I have visited the service 4 times to sort out niggling issues, warranty replacement etc with the same mileage (2000km). But yammie its completely different, nothing is loose or needed attention, zero rattles from the fairing which is quite a contrast from pulsar where all plastics vibrate like crazy though it has no fairing except visor.Originally posted by Naveen1985 View Post5000 kms is too much.

re: Yamaha YZF- R15 S Owners Reviews and Experiences
few suggestion and updates on my bike .
1. i owned R15 V1 for 6 years and done almost 80k kms on it , its super reliable and dependable , went to kanyakumari/leh/all sorts of place .
2. since then i got GT250R,CBR250,Ninja 250 for brief period , always R15 served as spare/2nd bike
3. now after long 8 years i brought again R15S , only coz , the riding position is super comfort for me and the bike is highly reliable
so , as pervious user of R15 and current user of R15S , i can 100% recommend this bike to everyone who willing to buy.
now almost done 700km , and keeping RPM b/w 5000-7000 and some times around 8k mark , first 500km i have kept the RPM level to around 3k-5k level and now that power band is very smooth , initially the 5k-7k rpm band was rough now after riding 200km in that rpm range its getting smoother, will continue in this band till 1000km and then till 1500km will try to rev b/w 8k-9k rpm band. after that will do couple of redlines.
my old R15 V1 was had power in higher band , and mileage i used to get is around 33kmpl , but now the R15S new bike has good power band from 3k rpm all the way up, and most interesting part is mileage i got around 45kmpl . impressive
