    Hello Riders, I was thinking of changing the headlight sealed beam/dome, not happy with the headlight focus. Bulb is quite bright however this clear lamp reflector is not able to utilize it properly.

    Can anyone please confirm whether the 7" sealed glass beam (Minda) that comes in classic models fits into Himalayan headlight ring?
    Glass reflectors are always better over clear ones.

    Also, is the Interceptor/GT/Conti 535 has the same 7" glass beam, that can also be a good option.

      Have you tried only changing the bulb. I have been using the Osram Unlimited Lazer, has improved a lot. But still not adequate for a night highway jaunt, yes.

        Hi Brokenbinil, halogen is 60/55W which should be just adequate, this is the same power that comes in Classics/500, issues is with the reflector. This one is not able to focus accurate on the road, and angle adjustment is very limited. I tried with philips and Osram, but no major difference.

          I am not sure whether the other RE's HL unit will fit the Hima or not, as a direct swap. But I'd suggest you to keep the rear plastic mount safe and sound. The glass housing sits inside this plastic housing, and this plastic housing is held in place by the side metal jerry can bracket. If you can check out the diameter of the classic RE headlamp glass units and the mount pin is the same. If yes, then you can "try" installing it.

          Did you by any chance consider a LED bulb? The reflector isn't that bad per se, and yes the focusing angle is limited due to the wiring loom behind the headlamp unit which makes it move up or down, but with a little struggle you can, in fact, get it pointed a wee bit down. Up is easy, down is hard.

          Keep your observations posted.

            I find it ok after the bulb change but the fixed headlight design makes it difficult in ghats.

              Sure, have bought a 7" sealed beam, same as classic, Himalayan is same size, will try fitting it and keep you posted. I think the fitting is same inside the ring.
              Wont prefer LED bulbs as it is good for low beam but doesn't have a good range for high, plus it is useless mostly on dark tar road or wet roads.

              You can fix the headlight with the handle.

              Indimotard in Whitefield Bangalore do this mod at a nominal price, but to do that both of the side tank guards need to be removed.
              They use the same headlamp unit and same wiring that is factory fitted so there is no headache of buying aftermarket items. Just they will attach a thick clamp to fix the unit.

                I am planning Spiti and Ladakh trip next month. And the query I have is regarding Himalayans handle bar.

                The stock handle bar is comfortable and does not pose any issue during normal ride, but it’s not comfortable for saddling, at least for me. I’m 5’10 and need to bend a little to saddle, which is not comfortable.

                I want to know if anyone has installed ThunderbirdX’s handle bar on their Himalayan and how is there experience? Ride quality and all?

                I personally think it would resolve my saddling issue, but what about handling of the bike?

                Will installing ThunderbirdX’s handle bar stretch Accelerator, Clutch and front disk cables? Are the cables long enough to accommodate the high handlebar? What are my other options? I’m not a fan of handlebar risers.

                  Hi Nebacuzzar, If you install TB handlebar then definitely you have to change full set of cables /wires/brake fluid lines. The current ones is just enough for this handlebar.
                  Plus one more point to consider, if you change the handlebar to make it closer then you may not be so comfortable with foot pegs placements, as the handle position is kept in sync with the foot pegs. But may be it depends on individual comfort level. Wish RE had made riding position more relaxing in REH like regulars.

                  One more suggestion is you can tilt down the handle towards the rider by just loosening the nuts in current setup , this will help you up to great extent (I have done it). For that you need to make holes in the handle bars both sides to fix the switches and lever accordingly, this is quite easy and can be done at any RE mechanic.

                    Have you considered handlebar risers? Though modifications can be done on a trial and error basis, handlebar risers do the job well of offering that extra feedback to the rider. The REH though has a great seating position, sometimes the handlebar position can induce pain on a rider's arms. I'd suggest, consider handlebar risers.

                      I have installed it. It's the best option IMO as I don't like looks of risers. No cable needed to be changed. I bought handle from RE and installed it myself at home.

                        Installed the glass sealed beam in Himalayan. Its a direct fit, just you need to use bigger pins to affix the glass with ring.
                        Light focus is far better now. I am quite happy with the headlight.
                        I recommend to change it if you find your headlight not bright.

                            No mods required Sreejesh.
                            Just buy a reflector/glass sealed beam that fits in Classic, any brand like Minda/Hella/Lumax, type is (P43T/H4) just for your confirmation. Factory fitted halogen bulb can be used that comes in Himalayan.
                            Ask your mechanic to replace the reflector, its a direct replacement (Tell him to use bigger pins to hold the sealed beam with ring more strongly, he knows it)

                            You wont have LED parking light after this as these reflectors does not have that option (for BS3) , anyways useless for BS4 as headlight is always On.

                              Anyone has the detailed wiring diagram of the BS-IV?? Found a shop manual online but the wiring scans were too low res to be useful.

                                I forgot to add a misadventure with the Avenger mirrors. They did not work due to limitations in alignment at the handlebar angle I preferred. Broke the left mirror in trying to rearrange the mirror angle. So be careful when getting an Avenger mirror
