You got a December made bike. I'm so jealous, hahaha. Any difference in the gearshift and engine leaks compared to the older lot or the demo bike? When did you book the bike?

    Cheers and regards.

EDIT: Those hand guards look nice. Where did you get them?
    Thank you Ajeet,
I made payment on 10/Dec, and got delivered on 18/Dec.
    Just did 480kms so far,
Hard Gear shifting, 2-N is easier than 1-N shifting.
    No oil leaks yet.
No big issues, and problems faced yet.
The bike is good and I feel more confident in control.

Regarding the accessories, knuckle gaurd( with indicator) I got it from asco motors, patpargang inds area, New Delhi.
    It cost me 3.3K there..

Any small ones like the headlight pointing upwards or the round plastic caps on the frame falling off?
Do post the experience of your first service and the differences you felt afterwards in the gearshifts.

      Cheers and regards.
And then the lord said "Let there be Bike": And there was bike

Hey Ajeet, bro, when are you bringing your bike home? Has the issue been sorted out with the dealership? if not, did they commit any delivery date?

The bike was feeling good after the first service, no such thing like plastic parts falling apart or headlamp issue in my ReH...
            Gear shifter is smooth now...
Tried to find the top speed, easy upto 100km/h, max achieved 115 km/h..

Knuckle gaurd is universal, can fit with any bike. Extension screw is needed.

The Family just grew by one. The Himalayan is home at last!

So I got quite the surprise when I got home this Sunday. Reached home and found nobody there, except for my brother's car and the old Activa. I was the in balcony wondering how come my brother's car is there when he ain't home, and that's when I heard the soft yet deep burble of the Himalayan's exhaust. Everything just clicked at that very moment. While I was camping and partying with my office, my brother was taking the delivery of the Himalayan and doing the first ton on the odo. We had decided on getting the bike on Sunday after I returned, but I guess he couldn't resist the urge. I so wanted to be there and soak in the moment! Dammit![emoji12]

Went down to see the bike up close and to take a bunch of pictures. Got a bike form the December lot with "GL" on the chassis and engine numbers. Happier than a nerdy teen losing his v-card. The Royal Enfield people at Khan Market had promised an October bike, but this is even better. A whole lot better than expected and I'm glad as well as thankful. The bike was inspected twice before being delivered. The only thing missing is the Himalayan crash guard which is currently unavailable.

The bike has done 135 kms so far. I took it around my sector even though my legs are banged up and bruised from camping in the mountains. Mounting the saddle feels like you are mounting a war horse into battle. Kept it under 3500rpm during the ride, gets a tad boring but it is very pleasurable listening to the exhaust as it lets out that sonorous rumbling and noticeable popcorns as you ease down the throttle.

I dunno why some riders don't like the horn and I even read some mentioning that it sounds quite a lot like the infamous "Meep! Meep!" of the roadrunner from the Roadrunner show.[emoji13] I found it to be loud enough for city roads and not that light pitched. Honestly, it is a lot better sounding than the horn of my Wagon R. It is somewhere between a maruti horn and a volkswagen horn, manly enough to be on a Royal Enfield.

Quality wise, there are a few spots that don't look pretty. The welding at the frame for the jerry cans and the rear luggage rack are somewhat hideous. There is a spot below the chain, right where the side stand is that collects debris, grease and gunk that falls from the chain. It should be cleaned regularly to prevent any buildup.

The handle feels a bit stiff and maneuvering the bike at slow speeds felt slightly odd. Strangely I don't remember the steering feeling this stiff when I took the test ride. I hope it will soften up with time as the suspension settles in. Was worried and tense that I might drop the bike at some point as my legs have no strength left, gladly no such crime happened hahaha.

The gearshifts are slightly stiff. No problem finding neutral gear, so far. I have only gotten used to the clutch lever play and the friction point at the moment. The brakes do feel progressive, but I would prefer a bit more bite out of them. My thighs cramped up a few times and I had to stand on the footpegs for a second or two to get some relief. [emoji23] Note To Self: Get more exercise from now on.

I will write my review after the first service is done and I have punched in some decent numbers on the odometer. For now, lemme get to the part everyone wants. Behold the glorious eye candies.

Kinda looks like an elephant due to the plastic panels and the frame around the indicators. The nose(mudguard) looks like a trunk lol.

130kms on the odo within the first 24 hours of ownership. Will hopefully complete 500kms and first service within a few weeks.

Notice the welding on the rear luggage rack.

All the caps are holding up, so far.

I like the seats, they are two separate seats and come off very easily.Notice the ugly welds.

                          More ugly welding.

The sports exhaust will be fitted during the first service. Need auxillary lights for the bike. Still haven't named the bike yet. Open to any and all suggestions for the bike. All that is remaining now is a full set of riding gear. Gotta go ATGATT or drive. [emoji111]

                          Cheers and regards.

Nice post. Few suggestion for bike name:
                            Black bear
                            Wild fire
                            Black mamba
                            Baby black
                            Blackie babe
                            Or just "blackie"
