Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Following are photos for solving the hard clutch problem of Himalayan. I got the cable rerouted after a friend suggested. I didn't change the cable to C350's as the Himalayan's cable is thick, almost double to that of C350's. The rerouting removes the kink at the bottom. It helps quite a bit.

Also if you shift around 2.5k rpm you get perfect shifts. Even at standstills rev the bike to 2.5k and you will be able to find neutral easily. One life to ride....

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
The seepage is solved after tightening the bolts (near the head and at crankcase) I wonder why the factory didn't take care of this. If it persists open it up and apply fresh coat of anabond or similar stuff and tighten it. We have 5 Himalayans in our club. All faced the similar issues of seepage and hard shifts. Thankfully the technicians now know how to address the issue.Originally posted by Pique242 View PostNice work. can u throw some light on the oil seepage that people are complaining these days?
One more thing I would like to add is hard steering. We got all of our Himalayans T's re greased after 2 bikes faced this issue. There was hardly any grease in those two bikes. One friend even got thr T changed as it was a bit crooked. So get this thing done just to be safe even if you get a slightest hint of jammed steering.Last edited by tripster; 12-24-2016, 08:39 PM.One life to ride....

The clutch cable seems to be touching the exhaust out pipe.Originally posted by tripster View PostFollowing are photos for solving the hard clutch problem of Himalayan. Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
A not so merry Christmas thanks to Royal Enfield Company Showroom Khan Market, New Delhi.
Reached the company showroom with my brother to take the delivery of Granite colored Himalayan. The had promised a new bike from the December lot which was good. But all the hopes went down once we checked the VIN number that had "GH" signifying that it was an August manufactured bike.

The showroom manager was not there as expected. She had been doing the Houdini act for a while. We have been there at least 8 times, 2 times this week only. So it was the poor trainee guy who had to answer all our questions.

The technician confirmed it to us that it was indeed from the August lot and was ridden to be delivered all the way from Saket. The odometer had more than 70kms on it while Saket is hardly 10kms away and not so surprisingly some of the caps on the frame were already missing. The technician was suggesting that he will replace them from another bike that was there for delivery.
Now the other bike was a snow color Himalayan and to make matters even sad, it was totally fresh and the odometer read 3kms. Royal Enfield really should focus on the quality of their products at least when they are being delivered. The snow Himalayan's stickers were already coming off which I think is not so nice on a holier than a virgin bike.

Even after a century of existence this is not how such a reputed brand should be when providing their customers with a product that is so well engineered and bought by the people with their hard earned money. Especially from the brand's company showroom. And here we thought that Royal Enfield people are very particular and meticulous. [emoji15]
And then the lord said "Let there be Bike": And there was bike
And the lord saw the bike, and it was Goooood!

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Hi Ajeet, sorry to hear about your ordeal. I am also scheduled to take delivery in a while of my granite Himalayan. Is it possible you have a VIN number decoder sheet and PDI sheet for the Himalayan ?Originally posted by Ajeet Padhi View PostA not so merry Christmas thanks to Royal Enfield Company Showroom Khan Market, New Delhi.

I have been burnt bad by Bajaj because of the same issue and I regret not having checked the VIN number. I was hoping RE dealers to be away from this practice however doesn't seem like the case.
Would appreciate it.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Greetings brother,
first of all thank you very much and yes I will write a thoroughly "exhaustive" ownership post on the Himalayan.
I think the bike they were providing us (me and my brother) was a canceled one or maybe a rejected one. The thing that really blew me off was the fact that the showroom manager claimed that all the bikes (The RE Himalayan specifically) are produced and shipped to the showroom for delivery, when a customer has made the booking and submitted all the mandatory paperwork. This is applicable for the Himalayan as the demand is pretty low when compared to the Classic or the Thunderbird and the Himalayans are "made to order" because of the low number of units sold per month. Now, given the fact that our booking was done late in the month of November and even after being delayed a lot of times by that specific showroom manager who processed the order, resulting in pushing the delivery date towards the end of December. Therefore we were supposed to receive a bike from the November lot as it made sense that it would have been produced only after our order was processed.
Regarding Royal Enfield's product and service quality apart from the "attitude" that the people at the brand-owned stores have, all I can do is just shake my head and shrug my shoulders. So far we have rejected taking that bike and asked for something newer and fresher that that. They have promised an October made bike now.
Let's hope the people at Bajaj don't mess up with the Dominar 400 which looks very promising and a hell lotta bike for the price. Man oh man, INR1,36,000 for the non-abs variant and INR1,50,000 for abs, and it is fast! Now that is something we can drool over and maybe smack our foreheads along as well.
Regards and cheers!

I am glad to be of help. So far I have seen a vin decoder and found something on Quora but they were not exactly helpful to me. If the bike has a white sticker with bar-code on it, then I would suggest you take a look at this post.
OR
The 11th and 12th characters are the one you should look out for. The Granite Himalayan I was given originally had this chassis number "ME3D4A5C1GH006376" and the 11th and 12th characters are "G" and "H" respectively. So far I know that G=2016 and H=August, going on to I=September, J=October, K=November, L=December and so forth. You should look out for "GK" or even better "GL"at those mentioned spots.
May this information be of use to you and I wish that you get a bike that is free from all sort of defects and errors. The Snow Himalayan is a real eye candy, I wish that we had booked the Snow instead of the Granite since we wanted a mini "batpod."
Regards and cheers! And then the lord said "Let there be Bike": And there was bike

You got a December made bike. I'm so jealous, hahaha. Any difference in the gearshift and engine leaks compared to the older lot or the demo bike? When did you book the bike?
Cheers and regards.
