Need advice for buying a new Royal Enfield HIMALAYAN
Hello Guys,
I am from Kolkata recently booked a HIMALAYAN which i am going to get delivered next week. Excited but also in tension because this is my first bike and i have a minimal knowledge regarding motorcycle parts. So friends i am completely relying on your valuable information that what to see before buying a motorcycle (especially the Royal Enfield brands known for their after sale problem), how to tackle the fussy dealers who's only target to sell a product any how without giving attention to the customer grievances, How to make a PDI especially for HIMALAYAN etc (if i miss out any point you are most welcome to give your valuable advice).
So friends please post your fullest knowledge regarding buying this bike and please do it ASAP.
Also few niggles and issues have been reported regarding HIMALAYAN like :
* Notchy gearbox especially shifting from Neutral to 1st and 2nd
* Clutch action is quite hard.
* Exhaust Misfiring.
* Engine heating problem.
Now regarding to this how much it is true or rumour and if this problem really exists how can i tackle them especially during the delivery of my bike. Apart from the above if any other issues exists please do mention about it.
Also due to some problem i am not going to take my bike home after the delivery and plan to keep it in the dealers workshop untill my registration is been completed which is going to take around 15 to 20 days. Now what action should i have to take regarding this so that no person in the workshop try to tamper or exploit my new bike.
So friends, please please please help me buying this machine for me is a dream come true and i don't want that to get spoiled for the negligence of somebody and waste my hard earn money.
And post the complete lists of PDI.
[NOTE: if any one who is from Kolkata and willing to help during delivery can contact me : 9830089813 (MD SHAH HOSSAIN)]

Ask for the PDI sheet. Every dealer has to get it signed. They generally take two three signatures on different papers and slip the PDI sheet between them. Insist on it and then only start formalities. It covers all points. Look for any scratches or damages.Originally posted by Shah Hossain View PostHello Guys,

The gearbox is notchy. Shift between 2000 to 2500 rpm and it will be fine. The new clutch is better than previous.
All big engines heat up. Even the liquid cool duke 390s. Its problematic in slow moving traffic. Wear riding pants or denims and you will be fine.One life to ride....

Apart from PDI what measures should I take while my bike will be kept in the workshop for registration so that none one try to tamper or replace parts in my bike.

What's your height?Originally posted by thewanderer85 View PostHey guys,
I wanted to reduce the saddle height of my REH a bit. Can you guys suggest ways to do it?. I want to be able to plant both my feet on the ground. Now I have to balance the mc on toe ends which is a bit tricky on uneven off roads. Please advise.
