They are. Soon the bike *may* be temporarily stopped. Production would resume after a few months. As per the birdie, RE is working on problematic components.

My friend got nothing.

UPDATE :
Here is my friend's update
A really pathetic customer service experience given to me Royal Enfield ..the issue that I have been chasing on,was the damaged cone Set (steering stem)..after N number to emails and calls made to RE... finally a cone Set arrives...I was asked to go to come over to the showroom, then made to wait for 3 hrs...and then the shop person says that the cone Set is not for a Himalayan...I couldn't express my then reaction in words...finally they said they are swapping the cone Set of a new/test ride Himalayan with mine....I never would have agreed to that as a resolution, but given the condition of how damaged my cone Set is, I gave a go ahead....bottom-line...don't buy a Himalayan, may be..
Let me explain what happened. The cone set needed replacement, so a mail was marked and my friend got Zonal Head (Delhi's) number and was in continuous touch through whatsapp.
he went to Ess Aar motors (where the bike was bought from) , they were sending him to West Delhi for the part (35kms in peak traffic). He was furious and decided to come back, just then Zonal Head messaged that the cone set has arrived at the svc which was near to his home . He headed towards svc only to be told that the bike will be returned on Tuesday. he again got furious and took the matter to higher authorities then and there.
They started working on the bike, again to find that the cone set is not of Himalayan, all those high pitch argument started, the svc took a new Himalayan and got the cone set from that and installed it on his bike.

Overall time spent 10hours, for a cone set which took 30minutes to replace.

The bike is no doubt top notch but the servicing, after sales and management is one to be blamed for.

Yes I had no problems in water crossings. Also I am an owner now so I might be a bit biased. It suits my kind of riding. I am pretty happy.

Talking about top notch anything on this bike is just the engine possibly, for RE standards, nothing else qualifies for top notch.

Regards.

We took it to hills, rode it in rains for 12hours, took it to engine deep water, went over land slide places, over the boulders and rocks, and nothing happened. i guess that is enough for me.
I would still say RE servicing sucks, bike is good

Back from the most awaited monsoon ride covering the most beautiful ghats of Karnataka. Riding in the rain for 5 days was pure bliss. Himalayan behaved very well. Negotiating the curves, climbing the Agumbe ghat, crossing some slushy patches was an easy task. It was pure fun. The grip is awesome. Fuel economy was whopping 34kmpl. The level of comfort it offers is amazing. No backache, body pain, strain or whatever. Brakes were brilliant. Fell in love again with my Black Beauty. Crossed 5000km of happiness. And the attention my bike would garner is priceless and sometimes irritating(coz of the questions being repeatedly thrown at you).

Everything was going well till the 4th day. On the dreaded day the bike refused to start after refueling at Sagar and the battery was dead!! Push started the bike and found a mechanic. Checked the battery and fuses and they were fine. The problem was with the charging system. As per the local mechanic the dynamo was not working properly. The nearest Authorised service centre at Shimoga did not have the spares. Decided to get the battery charged and then head back to Bangalore and we stayed in Sagar for the night. Got the battery fixed and started next morning. After a few kilometers front started feeling heavy. Checked the tyre pressure and it was 25psi. Now this might be an issue with the steering system. Reached Bangalore without headlights & horn & with a heavy front. Gave the bike for service on Wednesday evening. Will be updating the thread once I get the updates from the ASS.

RE should seriously work on the quality of spares & improving the quality of service. Otherwise they are going to kill one hell of a machine.

That's the story of every RE, I believe. Great bike, poor quality of components.

So, what I understand by going through all of the pages is that, its a beautiful bike to own but its plagued by some issues which the company is still trying to fix. Hmmm. manjit When was your bike delivered to you? The cone-set issue seems to haunt himalayan.
I had second thoughts about this bike, but I think I will still go with this bike. The things got character, which is missing from a lot of new rides.

My bike was delivered on May 6th. No doubt Himalayan is a great bike, but poor R&D, poor quality of spares, lazy & useless guys at the authorised service centres have let this bike down big time. Hope RE is reading this and working on improving these things.

Ladies footrest I have not come across. Crash guard is available at Fixwell in Bangalore. But I am facing issues as it hits the shin. There are some guys who have fabricated crash guards for Himalayan. You can check it out on FB Royal Enfield Himalayan Owners page.
