Engine Lag with a story. (Royal Enfield Himalayan)
Hello xbhpians. Let me Get straight to it. I gave My friend to ride my bike and the last thing you want to happen is your friend dropping your brand new Himalayan. The bike fell on the right side of its body where the the air mixture lies. I picked the bike up And started it and the bike just did not move. Frantic and trying to keep a calm face , I tried to figure out why the bike would just not move. I checked every possible cause .Whether the clutch cable it got short or the gears or anything that would jam the bike.I kept pushing the bike on first gear . And the biked moved a couple of feet. With no respite I kept pushing the bike. But after that it would just not move. And Lo and behold my rear brake lever was caught stuck underneath my a small piece of the silencer guard . Completely dumbstruck by what had just happened but like every Royal Enfield owner, you learn to live with it.
Ever since I have been experiencing the engine Under performing on higher Revs. On lower revs the Bike moves like a beast. But when I push to fifth and look for that push it just does not deliver .Any advice on why this happens would be absolutely amazing .
Cheers !

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Hi all..i was wondering how to get good quality seat cover for the bike..here in north east india none of the showrooms were able to answer about its availability. Finally i got it custom made from a tailor with good faux leather..it looks nice with outside stitch marks. While riding seat is less slippery now plus heat reduced a bit too. Being happy

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Did a small mod to the windscreen mounts. Added lock nuts to it. The flapping is reduced to a good extent and results are good for a 10rs 15 min job. The windscreen is fixed more firmly now. In the process of getting the perfect position I messed up the rubber mounts. Got the pulsar rubber mounts as nothing was available across the three RE dealers of Nagpur. The mounts are not as good as the Himalayan's but they do the job. The problem with stock screws is that you can tighten them to a certain extent else the screen will crack up. The lock nut can be tightened further from the other side resulting in a firmer windshieldOne life to ride....

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
How is the quality of the welds on the bikes from the recent lot (October/November ones)?
Are the caps on the frame holding better or they need to be glued to keep them in place?
Any other issue that has been resolved?
I also heard something about ABS on the Himalayan from May-June-July onwards in 2017 at Solitaire Automotive - Royal Enfield, Sector 63 Noida. Can anyone confirm this news/rumour?And then the lord said "Let there be Bike": And there was bike
And the lord saw the bike, and it was Goooood!

4. The company will rectify the issue don't worry if there is one.
The gear shifting will be hard initially but will smoothen. Attached are pictures of relocating the clutch cable. It straightened the bend and clutch feels lighter.
Changed the clutch cable to the one used in Classic 350 which is 1 inch longer costed 100/-, gear changes are smooth and you can DIY, all you need is a spanner which is in the tool kit,

Quality of welds haven't changed, the worst of the welds are the ones holding the instrument console, cannot believe RE does such a shoddy job. You cannot lower the angle of the headlight coz of the console, high beam (bit too highOriginally posted by Ajeet Padhi View PostHow is the quality of the welds on the bikes from the recent lot (October/November ones)?

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Hi guys, after a lot of pondering, reading various threads and user reviews decided to go for the Royal Enfield Himalayan. Presently I roll on a Pulsar 200 NS, which is going to be defunct pretty soon from my riding, however am pretty comfortable with riding an Enfield. I booked my granite beast on the 17th of this month with Manzil Motors, Gurgaon. I have also asked them to get my bike installed with the custom built exhaust for the H costing INR 3,700. Would be costing about 1.73 L OTR plus about 4,300 for the exhaust.
I took a real long test ride with a pillion stretching to about 40 - 50 kms and it did leave both of us smiling at the end of it with the performance and comfort. Also managed a few kms of off roading in an under construction belt and must say that RE has done a brilliant job with the handling of this bike under stressful conditions.
Now to the main reasons of this post -
1. Have heard that engine leakage issues continue to haunt the RE. Has this issue been resolved with the later generations of the H or not ? If not, what is the workaround ?
2. Hard clutch - will be switching the cable of the H to that of the 350 so hope to have it rectified
3. Finding neutral from 1st or 2nd was the toughest thing I have done on a motorcycle. Any ideas as to would this get resolved in the first service ?
4. Does anyone have a detailed PDI checklist for delivery ?
5. Does anyone have the VIN decoder list for the Himalayan or for RE ?
6. Any suggestions for the well being of my beast ?
Appreciate all your inputs folks !
Cheers
