Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
After a lot of apprehension and reading the pros and cons of buying the Himalayan, I finally took the decision to book my REH towards Dec17 end. I wanted to get a 2018 VIN number vehicle so had to wait till yesterday to finally got my REH. The delivery process was quite simple and the sales person gave me a brief about the vehicle for about 3 mins and then handed over the keys. The first ride felt good.. rather really good. I like the way the bike feels and runs but I think it is better for me to run it for some more time before I give my detailed experience....

Even I am going to take a leap of faith and book a REH today. I had a crush on this bike when they first launched it and fell in love with it last week when I took it out for a spin.Originally posted by Katu_REH View PostWelcome to the club and Happy riding...

Sounds like my story [emoji3] & a hearty welcome in advance!Originally posted by augustinepaul4u View PostEven I am going to take a leap of faith and book a REH today. I had a crush on this bike when they first launched it and fell in love with it last week when I took it out for a spin.
Was so tempted to book earlier too, but I waited out the past few months for the BS4 owner reviews before I took the plunge.
The Himalayan, in my view, has settled down to be a typical RE product (lots of lovin’ required) but with a better engine & fantastic rider + pillion comfort.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
I have been a RE owner for over a decade now.
Was among the first 10 in Mumbai to book the Himalayan when it was launched but friends from the RE circle warned me not to take the bike, yet, I stood by the down payment. When I went to pay for the bike (about 3 weeks later), just on whim again, I tried the test bike and the bike would just refuse to engage 1st gear. I was crushed that I wanted this kind of bike but my friends were right.
I went and transferred the booking to a TBTS-350 for my son, and that seemed to be a relatively good buy. not glitch free, but nothing that hasn't been fixed under warranty.
Fast forward- many years (2?), and BS3 to BS4.
RE Tour of Rajasthan 2017, I managed to get my hands on a factory BS4 that was with us on the Tour. The ride left me with a profound impact on the improvements they made and the promises that they are making about the improvements.
At Rider Mania 2017, there was a parallel conclave of Dealers held by the company where for the first time the company staff acknowledged the BS3 was a major botched up release and the ramping up of sub-vendors etc was not just up to par, and the lot of explanations- was given. What amazed me was the public acknowledgement.
With this hope, the ride, and the new found openness of the company- I have gone ahead and booked the Sleet+ accessories package, and await the delivery. Just as I completed my payments, within the ten days of the 'first-come-first-ride basis, ALONG CAME THE GHOST OF THE OLD RE.
A rider from Shillong, was faced with a stubborn Sales Outlet that refused to let him complete the payment, and he would have lost his booking, had he not done. I had to intervene, write to CS@RE, then call friends I knew at RE and get them to talk to the store and get the payment accepted.
Which they eventually did, almost under brute force.
Strangely, even in this story, I take solace of the promise of the new face of RE.
CS@RE responded. My friends called and the ASM for Shillong, Meghalaya was found on a phone, The Store answered calls.
Amazing effort till now.
As some forum readers have written, 'ride it gently or you will break it-' I have had to tell all my friends, in polite language, that all the testing can be done at the RE Store.
Be calm and gentle with your RE, any RE and you will be rewarded with friends, mechanics, forums, WhatsApp groups, and either learn to enjoy that or dont buy into the 'RE system.'
Everyone expects a functional and reliable bike, as do I. RE seems to be working towards that goal.
Trust me, i will update once my Sleek arrives."When and Anvil be patient, when an Hammer, strike."

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Good to see that people are showing lots of confidence in RE product, and also
1. company is working hard to correct the issues reported by customers.
2. Proactively correcting the issues.
3. Openly accepting the failure and not defending the issues.
Happy that Indian company is working in such manner
Wish you happy miles and keep thumping.
