I have come to know that production for the Himalayan 2017 has been stopped and soon the 2018 models will come. Is it true? If yes, any idea when the first batch be delivered? Any new changes to the bike in comparison to 2017 model?
Thanks
Did you visit any particular showroom where the folks had to say this? Post April 2018 all bikes above 125 cc are required to be equipped with ABS. The Himalayan already being BS IV complaint with the fuel injection, the only thing that it misses is the ABS component, which "might" get added next year.
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Actually I had booked just a month back and dealership told me just a week ago that production has stopped for 2017 models now. Suspecting that the dealership is lying to me and has sold off my bike to someone else, I asked around in other dealerships.
So I asked around in other showrooms if they had 2017 models in stock and they told me that they don't have any and the new model will come in January end.
Today I had a talk with the area manager from RE who told me that production for 2018 models will start in first week of January. So only until after first week of January, he will be able to give me a tentative delivery date.

I think there is a catch here.
All bikes launched after April 2018 must have ABS. However, if the model is launched prior 2018, they could launch the abs version by April 2019. Reasons being amount of engineering needed to add abs system into existing product is more complex than developing a product with abs.
Himalayan was launched prior April 2018, so they have to update the model to comply with abs by April 2019. Same will be the case with all other bikes.

You are right, Kris. But there is another catch here, the REH is already being exported to European countries with ABS, so they've almost sorted their eggs out. It's only a matter of time they launch it here in India. The Himalayan being priced up already with the FI; value for money quotient plays a big role with RE currently being in the neck of the woods. Let's see how 2018 unfolds.

We both know all manufacturers can put abs into their products as of today. But they won’t till last moment.
Reason being, one who puts abs first will have to raise prices first. Which leads to less sales and less margin at the same time making competitors product attractive. It’s a loose loose scenario for them. So I guess they won’t.
Very few prefer to go for abs version. Rest all prefer lower cost.
Most of Europe nations have abs mandatory rule because of excessive rain and snow. We are a dry nation though, so everyone who’s exporting have abs.
Thank you very much VJ. Right now I have nothing better to say than other riders posted here. Just started using the Bike. Will post detailed review and logs about my trips soon.
Hey guys
So I got my first service done and got bike on Wednesday. Clutch and gear became smoother and it felt very light. Thought im going to have an awesome time with my REH. Didn't take my bike out on Thursday and today after riding around 15 kms , clutch started feeling hard and gear shifting also wasn't smooth. And it became harder after each km. Finally I couldnt see the clutch play at all. My wrist was about to break and finally I made it to technik motors, HSR layout. After two rounds of test ride and some adjustments in clutch they asked me to check it. It felt better but not great. I told the same and they told me clutch assembly needs to be changed and they don't have spare. I'm all set to ride from Bangalore to Kerala and then kanyakumari, rameshwaram day after tomorrow. I can't tell how I feel now. Tomorrow I will check with Enfield brand store at btm layout for a clutch assembly.
My question is can I take the bike for a long ride with faulty clutch. Coz I don't feel engine running smoothly while shifting gear. Any thoughts or suggestions would help.

Sad state of affairs indeed to see the older set of discrepancies still haven't been addressed. That being said, I'd recommend you not to risk your journey with a faulty clutch pack. Though a snapped clutch cable can be replaced with a new one, clutch progressively getting harder and inoperable can jeopardize your trip and CAN leave you stranded. I'd suggest you replace your clutch for total peace of mind before you start hitting the roads. With the Himalayan, the bike can throw tantrums when one least expects. Sad indeed!
Best of luck.
Cheers!

Thank you. Very next day I took the bike to RE brand service center at BTM layout, BLR. Told them about the feedback from Technik motors , Iblur and my ride plans in the coming week. They committed to fix the issue by evening. I saw many REH in their garage waiting to approval for parts to be replaced. Sad thing they had even 15 days old bike. After multiple follow ups evening I received a message says service is done. Invoice had details of some nut is replaced and they said clutch is adjusted. Bike is in good condition to ride.
Next day I took the bike to Kerala as I was very excited about the trip. Highway riding didn't give any issue and towards the end clutch became hard in traffic ride. Still it was manageable and got a puncture too. However reached home safely after 630kms of ride. Must say ride was outstanding and very comfortable.
After reaching Kerala, in two days gear shifting started being hard and lose pick up too. Took the bike to service center in Kollam day before yesterday. They did the inspection and adjusted clutch again and told to ride it for 100kms and see issue if returns. If so I have to give the bike to service center and People from RE have to check it. Within 5kms every issue returned. Acceleration was hard and bike was not moving in lower rpm. At times acceleration was stuck too.
Yesterday submitted the bike to same service center and awaiting their response. As per them Service center folks are not supposed to open any BSIV Himalayan. Experts from RE can only do it. So my bike is waiting in the service center now screwing up my vacation and ride plans.
If someone planning to buy REH BSIV, my suggestion is to give it some time. Everything is unpredictable about this bike. Luck also should favor.
•Is there anything that we can do to protect tank from scratchs ? Suggestions?
•Hard gear shift is still there right ?
•Reason for pressure while opening fuel lid even if it’s 2-3ltrs in tank ? Excessive engine heat ?
• tips for Washing bike
•fuel indicator only works if you fill more than 5ltrs yes or No ?
•very small bend in rim is this allowable
Mine is 1100 km old
Himalayan owners kindly replay_
Thanks in advance 😷

Any updates from RE on the Clutch issue?? This seems to be one -off problem as I didn't much issues on BS4 bikes (except Key set).
