Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
By payment if you're talking about an advance, you're safe.Originally posted by abhish3kk View PostSpoke to RE Company store Jayanagar. They told me to make payment after which the delivery will take 10 days.
I have booked for Granite Color but now I'm more inclined towards Snow(for which they told me it would take 25 days). I'll try to negotiate at the time of payment.
Can anyone recommend me which online payment mode should I chose(RTGS/NEFT ?). This is my first bike and first online purchase for huge amount.
But if any RE dealer is asking for full upfront payment and promising you a shorter delivery period, be cautious.
Quite many of the Himalayan deliveries are facing bottle necks because of the break in the supply from RE that had happened.
Better double check on this part with your dealer and get a firm commitment.
As regards your query about bank transfers for payments, here's the quick summary of the same:
RTGS means real time gross settlement:
* The minimum amount that can be sent is Rs. Two Lakhs
* There is no maximum limit
* This is a real time transfer and it means that the remittance is made immediately by the bank
* Once the remittance is confirmed and submitted at the originating branch, the amount is credited to the beneficiary’s account instantaneously at the receiving branch
* Charges start on higher side due to minimum limit
NEFT means national electronic funds transfer:
* There is no limit on the minimum amount that can be sent through this facility
* There is no limit on the maximum amount that can be sent through this facility
* The remittance is made in batches
* The first batch starts at 8.00 A.M. and the last batch is upto 7.00 P.M.
* There is a gap between one batch to another batch is 30 minutes
* As such the receiver has to wait sometimes upto half an hour or one hour in order to get his credit
Hope this helps and here's to a smooth purchase experience with your new Himalayan!- When Life throws you a curve, Lean into it! -

No the dealer did not promise shorter delivery period if I make the full payment. It was my choice.1
The snow variant is still in production and as per the store it will take another month for the delivery.
I settled for Granite finally. They promised delivery by October 4 (10 days after the payment excluding holidays).

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Came across this review of the BS4 REH on YouTube last night and I gave the uploader a like and a positive comment. The location, the edit, the classic rock playing in the background (a tad loud though)... now, this is the right combo for a review on this motorcycle!
No doubt he's not a pro and he should've done the off-roading capabilities in a little more detail but overall, he sure got the feel just right..Take a look:

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
I am not that worried for the offroad part. I am looking out for a bike that has good suspension to handle bad city as well as highway roads, especially those speed breakers and rumbler strips. People who live in Pune know what I am trying to say, where they have speed breakers at every nook and corner. Planning to buy a bike next year and Himalayan fits my requirements completely.Originally posted by rideon74 View PostCame across this review of the BS4 REH on YouTube last night and I gave the uploader a like and a positive comment. Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
I agree with your take on the off-roading part. The majority of our time riding will realistically be on tar roads - the good ones, the bad ones and the ones we wonder why they even call a road. Yes, the Himalayan (to give credit where it’s due, the Mojo too) handle this part quite admirably. And if you’re looking at a purchase next year, do keep yourself posted about the ABS version roll out, since the government has given a deadline as 2018 for this safety feature to be mandatorily included.Originally posted by velociraptor13 View PostI am not that worried for the offroad part. Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Finally got it today after a long wait.
It's my first bike so I noticed following
1. Ride is very smooth
2. Having little problem in shifting gears. But I guess that will improve with time.
3. Real feel was after 40kmph. I mean I enjoyed when it crossed 40kmph. Did not drive for long(rain rain go away).
The guy at RE told me to go for premium petrol. Do I need to? I don't have any problem though.
I was expecting mileage between 25-30. However, the RE guy told me it will be between 18-20kmpl
Got helmet. But I am planning to get an LS2 after sometime.

The gear shifting should improve after first service. It is not necessary to use premium petrol, I have a BS3 one and have never used premium petrol ever. Mileage should be lot more than 20. I get around 30 in city and 35 on Highway (if I don't rip it)
By the by, the pics are amazing!
