    Hi Guys,

I am facing below concerns with my Himalayan.

    1. in lower speeds, the handle gets stiff. - This was fixed after losing the fork a bit.

However, this led to below problem,

    2. Front fork makes sound (tuk tuk sound)on ups and downs. -- I am sure this is because the fork is lose. Need to tighten the fork a bit. This sounds keeps coming every 2-3 weeks, I need to get the fork tightened everytime. Is there any way this can be rectified once for all..?

    3. Water vapours inside the odometer console. -- I think this is pretty normal situation in all RE bikes. Is that true..?

    4. When you apply the first gear, it makes a thumping sound. - I got this checked with a local mechanic close by and he said all RE bikes get this sound and Himlayan is better. Is that true..?

I have been giving my bike to serivicing in RE service station opposite to Madivala lake in Bangalore. Please let me know if you think there are any other better service stations in Bangalore who takes care of the bike better..

    Appreciate your comments.

    Cheers,
    Praveen

        Hey guys

Today I went to RE Bommasandra and got to test ride the BS4 snow white himalayan.

I am not an expert rider with RE bikes because i ride a RC 200 currently. But I gotta say it is pretty smooth and refined for an RE only because last week i did a 1000km trip on my friend's himalayan BS3.

So i cannot say that this is the best version of himalayan so far(i will leave that to the experts) but from my observations, i definitely felt the difference on the good side.

The gearbox is pretty smooth and shifts are not clunky, throttle response is freaking smooth and goes with ur flow and it is still the same old relaxed ride mode not the rev out of me throttle and exhaust note is changed and seems bit refined compared to the tin can sound it used to make in previous BS3 version.

Braking department is adequate like its earlier version sadly no ABS not even as an option and everything else stays the same. There is AHO, the handle bar area and the plate near the pillion grab rails are blackened out as a visual aesthetic.

Suspension is about the same as the previous one. Mirrors stayed same, bash plate the same engine cooling mechanism everything remained same.

I've got only good things to be said about this bike. Since it was a new bike i am not sure how the build quality is really improved now as only time can reveal that to us.

        Pics below.

And coming to delivery times, the dealer guys mentioned that this is the test ride batch dispatched as of now and it might take 40-50 days for the actual deliveries. Also they said they will confirm the delivery dates for sure by the end of August.

Please don't mind the mistakes if there are any in the post. These are just my opinions after a test ride.

        Cheers

1 and 2. Bro get your cone set changed and T-stem checked and lubricated. I was facing the same issue and they came up with the same ridiculous solution about loosening the cone set which let to the same tup tup sound from the front forks. Stand on their head and get it changed. The service mechanic told me after loosening that ride about 300 kms it should settle down to which i lost it and took it up with the service manager and he got the cone set changed.

                  3. Get it replaced. It should not be happening.

                  4. Set ur idling right. If your idle is over 1100 rpm it will make a clunk sound which is more than embarrassing. Drop the idle to 1000 and see the smooth shift you get. Its not silent even at 1000 but way better. Your mechanic is absolutely wrong in saying that the H also has this issue coz can anytime look at mine and change his mind.

Cannot comment on the service centers since i am from Gurgaon so maybe a Bangalorean would be able to help on this point.

                  Hope this helps mate !

1 and 2 is a coneset issue. Get your coneset, tapper bearings (coneset bearings) checked. If they are not fine, get them replaced! It's under warranty and they shouldn't create a problem.
If you have done >15k kms, get your fork oil checked/changed.

                      3. Even I have the issue. Thanks for bringing it up. Will ask the SC mechanic when I go today. But it isn't causing distress to me

                      4. The problem shouldn't occur. Initially it was there for me. But after I have got my clutch assembly changed. It has been butter smooth.

P.S - I go to Bommasandra SC. Know the guy well. Guess it's also about building that relationship.

New model have started arriving at dealerships now. Just saw one displayed in my office. Couple of visual updates on this model and the salesperson said that there is a minor increase in power plus a little decrease in mileage. He did not have the exact figures for either. No ABS either (not that we expected one anyways )

PS: onroad price quoted was 1.98 lacs Mumbai.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                                The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                                THE END
