I seems like the magnetic coil is gone and it has to be changed. Its only been a little more than 2000km. Its really frustrating because now I don't have the confidence to go on long rides. Its a new bike and serviced a month back. I am not a pro rider or anything but I love going on long rides and now the Himalayan is giving me second thoughts while going on any ride.

They had changed the clutch assembly and still I doesn't seem to make any difference. It is still the same. Even now at times the gear gets jammed in neutral.
    Need your advise guys.

    Thanks.
Sorry to hear about your opinion about this machine bro. I wish there was a way to get a refund although you can always take the legal route via Consumer Court. I have been on a few rides ranging from 200 kms to 2000 kms and I have not yet faced an issue, touchwood. Based on what I have read it is primarily three components which cause an issue - the head (camshaft and rocker assembly), the magnetic coil and the clutch plate assembly.

Camshaft & rocker assembly - I recently got the head of my bike replaced under warranty due to a faulty rocker mechanism which was causing repeated non alignment of the tappet valves. The svc replaced it promptly no questions asked. Since then been about 700 kms with no sound of the tappet. So I am guessing I am good to go on that.

Magnetic Coil - You really do not have a choice but to have that replaced. The service center HAS to replace that free of cost. If you are adamant the service center may even waive of the labour charge for the same.

Clutch assembly - I also was facing the same issue with me having to literally fight with the gears to choose the gear I wanted. I did not want to have it replaced, as a personal choice. Try loosening the clutch cable on your own using the adjuster, near the engine. I did it myself and it worked wonders. Trust me when I say this, ALMOST near Bajaj but at the right revs. Try shifting your gears around the 2500 rpm mark and see the difference. Make sure you do not loosen it more than a mm or two of clutch play else it would have an adverse impact on the ride experience and somehow vibes would be the end result of it.

Keep us posted about your experience, atleast with the clutch loosening bit.

    Cheers !

Still, look around the Classic forums to understand better before going ahead. Just my 2 annas.
I totally second that when you say that quite a few of the H owners are first time RE owners. I spoke to 17 H owners when making up my mind for this purchase and astonishingly 13 were first time owners who had issues with the bike in terms of smoothness of the gears, the comparatively lagging pickup and the engine sound. The other 4 just said one thing - If you are prepared to love and care for it more than your gf / wife go for it, it wont disappoint. And I have to admit - they were right.

So in the end, the option is to ride the bike or the wife! To each his own!

RE had the chance to change its image for greatness, instead it has messed it up even more. The H definitely had the potential to be a classic I believe, and now its nowhere. For the price they ask for it, I honestly believed that they were going the good quality path for once.

        Hi,

        Thanks for the info.

My only problem with RE is if they know all these issues why don't they call back and get it fixed for all the vehicles, instead of waiting for it to breakdown. There are users who face the issue with the magnetic coil even after replacing it once. If we buy H for 2 lacs, no one expects to breakdown within few months. Its not a small investment.

        Cheers

Hi Amal, I totally agree with you that RE should not put us under so much stress after we decided to invest our hard earned money in something which was touted to be their flagship model (for the good or bad, God knows). As someone here stated that buying an RE is like an arranged marriage, you really do not know what to expect until you wake up the next day.

RE should make a note and make a serious effort to turn this around for existing / new H owners. Its not as if these guys are not aware or do not have enough replaced parts to decipher what was defaulting in the erroneous parts.

OT - For Gurgaon owners, not aware if you have been informed however there is a H camp going on at Manzil Motors, Sector 16. You can contact Shankar at the workshop for more details.

I owned (sold it) a CL350 right when it was introduced back in 2010, the bike never had any issues but when ever I had to visit a SVC I just wanted to burn the SVC and the whole company.

The issue is not just with the bike but the SVC too sometimes, a very lethargic post sale support is a pain point most of the times.

By the way, has anyone got the new BS IV RE H EFI delivered, I have been waiting for a while and RE MGR keeps pushing the dates out from mid April to May 2nd week now.

            Thanks

                  Hi,

I would suggest to wait for the reviews of the BSIV version. REH is a great bike let down by sub-standard quality of the parts used. Not sure about the BSIV, but it would be good to wait and see.

                  Cheers!!

The previous OTR in Coimbatore, TN was 1.76L but now the SVC MGR says it would be around 2L and I checked couple of retailers as well.

Just got a call from the dealer I had booked the Himalayan from. He asked if I'm ready to take the bike. On asking when, he said they'll be starting delivery by 17th of this month. This is Hyderabad btw.
