My friend who bought a desert storm, in first 9000kms itslef engine was opened due to some weird noise from the engine.
Then in next 5k kms his crank was changed under warranty.
After that he sold the bike and got Himalayan.
Don't know how its going to be.

Fate of REH went wrong because of the category of buyers , Most REH users are from other brand of bikes(Japanese or Indian) were they expect the bike quality should be like there previous bike(s) and it never happened and they are regretting the decision they made.

When I went to buy my first Thunderbird in 2012 I was sure about that the bike will not be perfect and I never expected it to be perfect ,I faced lot of issues like burned wiring harness during the trip ,leaky fuel tank, jammed rear break etc.. After multiple services and warranty replacements now the bike is absolutely perfect and even I have completed Leh trip, with out even a singe niggle ( Not even a puncture)

Now I owns a REH(September 2016 batch) and I never faced any issues with it in any of my long trips and I am not bother even if there is any issues since I knows that it will get rectified by RE, during last service they have replaced all the prone to damage parts like magneto ,clutch assembly etc under warranty .

I feels that the time we spend with the bike to fix those issues are creating the bond with any RE bikes. More trouble it gives more we understand the bike's mechanics ,and it will make us a mechanics and further we will not be bother about what issues it gives during the rides since we know how to fix it.

Brother don't mind but looking after your thoughts on REH I remember a hindi saying "jab okhli me sir de diya hai to kuchalne se kya darna" 😁😄

        Means

Now if you have trapped ur head urself in a crusher by yourself then why to fear of crushing.

On serious note, its all about your money and your decision of choosing a motorcycle. I am sorry if I have hurt some REH owners. I didn't mean that.

Buying RE is like a arrange marriage, not like love marriage where you know your partner before going into relationship. You really need to match your (riding) habits and adapt the styles (with smiles on your face). Also need to take care of mood of the partner.
By doing all this above stuff doesn't mean your partner is happy, and will not let you down.
          Back to bike now:
You can use the bike in whatever terrain at whatever speed you want (or can handle) but then you need to pamper it when it is in garage. I have ridden my bike where other bikes has broken their rims / all indicators / HU unit whereas I came home without any issue (had 18 falls in a ride due to slush). My classic at times runs so smooth that it can put Honda shame, and at times I am afraid if I will be able to reach to office (5 KM only).
It is definitely not a fill it shut it and forget it bike.
After all the issues I have faced (and money spend) I don't want to give it away. call it love or me a fanboy.

          Regards
          Mandar

I booked REH in first week of this month. But after so many bad reviews and complaints I canceled the booking. Now going with classic 350 since I didn't like the handling of classic 500.
I still like to buy the REH but I will always be afraid of visiting service centers again and again and will not be able to enjoy the ride. I hope classic 350 will not give me much trouble since it has passed the test of time.

My good wishes sir , i too had high hopes for Himalayan but while riding it in traffic i felt more easy and comfortable on dominar as on slow speed the the weight of Himalayan can easily be felt for the wrong reasons , as per my personal opinion.

Hi Friends, As the days are passing complaints on REH are piling up..Its been an year its launch i think..
In the year 2010 me and one of my friend bought RE Electra and RE CL500..With in 4 months of riding I fed up with RE Electra
and swift to Bajaj 220 and ridden happily ever after, even after 7 years I am happy with my 220
My friend who has RE CL 500 fed up with the bike and divorced it and bought Duke 200...
There was serious issues with both bikes..so we had no choice but let them go...
Last year I got Ninja 650 and My friend shifted to HD Street 750..We both still have our previous bikes P220 and Duke 200 because of the reliability and quality of the bikes..

And Now with regard to REH this year My another friend Naresh Goud bought Himalayan 2017 model on 02-01-2017...It clocked around 2500 k.m.so far in four months..
I had been to Bengaluru from my city Kurnool, ridden Himalayan for a 1000 K.m. I have not faced any issues... except hard gear shifting, its like on paradise...Click image for larger version

So not all the machines are faulty...buyers of those faulty machines are vulnerable... RE people should think and have to take the cases seriously...

Thanks dbr650 for the valuable inputs,

I would request all the existing buyers to chip-in and put their reviews after the completion of an year, also RE's approach towards reported issues.

The RE Classic has its own share of niggles. The reason the issues of the H have come out so publicly is probably most owners are first time RE owners. You probably will not find too many complaints from those who already owned RE in the past. I think for them re H is better. Still, look around the Classic forums to understand better before going ahead. Just my 2 annas.

                                Hi Guys,

Is there any way to get refunded for the Himalayan. I had bought it in Feb and 2 days back, out of no where the bike doesn't seem to start. I seems like the magnetic coil is gone and it has to be changed. Its only been a little more than 2000km. Its really frustrating because now I don't have the confidence to go on long rides. Its a new bike and serviced a month back. I am not a pro rider or anything but I love going on long rides and now the Himalayan is giving me second thoughts while going on any ride.

They had changed the clutch assembly and still I doesn't seem to make any difference. It is still the same. Even now at times the gear gets jammed in neutral.
                                Need your advise guys.

                                Thanks.
