Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
I’m curious: what are the 40 major issues (including specifics related to the engine) in the BS4 version?Originally posted by Alone View PostWait till RE sortout all 40 major issues including Engine and put ABS.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
I do hope the person who commented earlier about the 40-odd issues is an owner of a BS4 or BS3.Originally posted by abiramr View Postread the EFI version is mostly sorted, is it still that bad?
Coming back to your query:
1. The BS4 has proved itself to be vastly improved than the BS3.
2. There are still minor niggles that bother a minority of the BS4 owners.
3. The REH is after all from the RE stable so don’t expect Jap or German perfection.
4. Waiting up for the ABS version till April/March 2019 is up to you. Obviously, the ABS will improve your ride safety while on tarmac and offer a higher resale value.
5. If you’re like many of us who can stay alive without ABS, enjoy the machine that the present REH is and don’t think much about resale value depreciation, you could go ahead with the investment right away.
As an footnote, I’d like to add that many of us take to forums when issues/queries arise. When the going’s good, there’ll be nothing much posted. This is evident from all of the forum threads related to various brands out in the market today.
To give some credit to the BS4 in that perspective, this thread has gone very quiet after the BS4 ownerships started growing [emoji3]- When Life throws you a curve, Lean into it! -

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Hi friends,Today being a lazy Sunday i decided to do an oil change of my bs4 at home. Bike has reached 2000km mark. I had already bought motul 15w50 oil and a oil filter. Following are my observations
1. All bolts of oil filter cap and oil drain assembly were horrendously tight. Damn mechanic at svc tightened them during first service.
2. Although oil quantity required for oil change according to the manual is 2litres, oil level windows shows middle mark at only around 1.4 or 1.5 litres.
3. It's strange and i am confused now. I did fillup till oil level window shows max level but why the manual mentioned 2litres?
4. I have never experienced this with my previous non RE bikes, i used to fill according to manual and oil level showed appropriate level in dipstick.
5. Some say we need to check oil level with engine idling, is it so?
Now should we fill 2litres and leave it like that or fill according to oil level window?

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Hi guys
I am already back from the first serious ride off road, with 550 k on little roads to get there and back.
Nice all the way , good team, nice tracks, some surprises : a little river crossing, hard to the hill with rocks, first fall down in grass
.
ready forthe black sea tour and back through Greeece, 31 years after the XT' ride

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Yet to take delivery of my REH, delayed due to an official trip in between. Sales guy informed that the ABS variant is coming soon. Around Oct-Nov 2018 timeframe as the production of REH has been slowed and delivery wait time is increased.
When asked about the price difference it would get, he informs to expect around 15-20K price increase.
Now doubtful what to do. Wait for ABS or get non ABS and save some ₹₹. About 14yrs of riding without ABS. Never has a wheel locking issue.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Big news - Just came after booking the Himalayan here in Pune. The sales guy informed that non- ABS version is discontinued by the company and I will get only ABS version by Mid Sept’18. Wondering how much will be the price increase now!

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Hi All,
A newbie here..
I'm using FZ16 2015 model for three years now. I was hoping to get a Himalayan for sometime and I can finally able to get it. Went to the showroom for booking and now I'm in a dilemma, whether to get a Non-Abs version or wait for Abs. There was no communication of price difference and time of arrival. I'm really desperate to get this baby and in no mood for waiting. Kindly give your view on this..

I can understand your craving dear as myself too booked the REH today itself. However, I am just relaxed when I think of the situation that might occur where price increase is not more than 10-15k for ABS version. Well, you never know, as there is pretty stiff competition in bike world nowadays and RE might want to keep its price in check. So have patience and wait for the prices to be out. The dealer here said it would be declared by end of Aug’18 or start of Sept’18. Fingers-crossed.Originally posted by jitzraj View PostHi All,

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Interestingly, a few days back, the showroom fellas here in my hometown were pretty confident about ABS launching come September, they did sound confident. Nonetheless ABS is mandatory in a year down the line and manufacturers are finally pulling their sleeves on it. I'd recommend you to get the ABS version, if you can afford patienceOriginally posted by jitzraj View PostHi All,

else you can go ahead and book your Himmie. The price would definitely shoot up post ABS introduction, that's a story for another day.
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Folks, got a call from regional manager RE here in my city. He confirmed the launch of dual channel ABS model of Himalayan by Sept’18 along with ALL OTHER MODELS by RE. And the price increase in Himalayan ABS will be around 15k. And that’s not it, RE is set to launch a new bike on grounds of Classis 500 with a dual tone color scheme (Blue & Black) which WILL have dual channel ABS on it on 28th Aug’18. [emoji2] Hope they live up to the suspense!

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Well, here comes the much desired ABS version then...Definitely will help while on tarmac; but if I’m not mistaken, the off-roading capabilities will suffer when the dual channel ABS is always on. The export variants so far do not have an ABS kill-switch.- When Life throws you a curve, Lean into it! -
