Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Got the skid plate fitted. Ordered through the dealer and got it in a week's time. Costs Rs430 including fitting. I think this is a good addition since Kerala cities and towns are filled with illegal speed breaker's (bump's). Also the dealer painted the silencer pipe and gave back. Nothing much to do, I guess.

The infamous Coin rattling noise is now prominent in my bike, after 1300kms since adjusting valve clearance. Dealer service says, nothing much to do, as most FZ25 bikes have the same problem? The coin rattling sound is prominent in 5-6K rpm. I think this started after the engine side cover opened as part of recall for replacing plate breather screws.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I had a word with the dealer service at Thodupuzha about the work done as part of recall. They did not changed the gasket but only the O-rings and screws. The works manager agreed to give me the replacement parts and I will get the job done at the service centre in my place (Muvattupuzha). He is not willing to give gasket, stubbornly claiming gasket need not be changed as part of recall. However, the other service centre insisted gasket change. So, I was given the parts (2 plate screws, gasket, O ring) and the local Yamaha service centre AYON Yamaha did a good work. They also adjusted the tappet (valve clearance) and now the bike is smooth. But, the coin rattling sound still is there, though not as sharp as earlier.Originally posted by prakash_mvpa View PostThe infamous Coin rattling noise is now prominent in my bike, after 1300kms since adjusting valve clearance. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi don't worry about the sound till about 10-12k km. It will become smoother. My opinion is that in initial stages let the valves seat well so keep clearance at upper limits. Minor discomfort for a well run in engine. Also after about 5 to 7k km, stress the engine little bit with highway sprints. This worked best for me and by around 12k km, engine was much smoother. Happy riding!Originally posted by prakash_mvpa View PostThey also adjusted the tappet (valve clearance) and now the bike is smooth. Mine has ran 10400kms already. Seems like it is going to be there for long.Originally posted by Kirankarunan View PostHi don't worry about the sound till about 10-12k km. It will become smoother. I have repeatedly adjusted the valve clearances in my engine. Odo is at 10900 kms. Coin rattling sound is still present. Valve clearances are within the limits.Originally posted by Kirankarunan View PostHi don't worry about the sound till about 10-12k km. It will become smoother. Also I get tick tick sound on idling too.Originally posted by slopegatri View PostRattling sound that comes around 5-6krpm will never go away, it comes from balancer mechanism not from valves. there's no fix for it. because it's by design. don't worry about it.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Thanks! I suspected this noise that comes at 5-6rpm is from cam chain tensioner. So, this is harmless, considering if you takes the bike in 80-100kmph speed range.Originally posted by slopegatri View PostRattling sound that comes around 5-6krpm will never go away, it comes from balancer mechanism not from valves. there's no fix for it. because it's by design. don't worry about it.

The rear LED light conked off recently and I did not observed it. Yamaha service guy removed it and put a normal bulb. I think, total replacement costs Rs250-300 or so. Meanwhile, I'm hunting for the LED bulb that will match the old one. Here is the photo of the failed LED bulb (or strip?)

Tik-tik sound on idling is different, check your valve clearance.Originally posted by rajan_coolrock00 View PostAlso I get tick tick sound on idling too.
There are 2 type of noise in fz25, -
1. coin ringing/rattling noise which comes around 5-6k rpm from balancer mechanism. this will never go away and harmless. don't worry about it.
2. tik-tik/tak-tak noise, this can be solved by resetting valve clearance to 0.05mm for intake/ 0.07mm for exhaust. if gap is more, you will tak-tak/tik-tik and performance will be tiny bit reduced.
alot of people try and fix 1, by resetting valve clearance, it won't help you.Fz25 2018 (ABS retrofitted)

Intake is at 0.07mm
Exhaust at 0.09mm
Have you performed compression check for different valve clearances?

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
within spec doesn't mean there would be no noise, that just means performance difference isn't that much.( also depends on accuracy of the person using feeler gauge)Originally posted by rajan_coolrock00 View PostMy valve clearances are within the specs.

try these -
Intake at 0.05mm
Exhaust at 0.08mm
it will reduce the noise somewhat.
Not yet. planning to do that once Abs retrofitting is done. might take another week or two, as 1 part (brake hose mount) is still missing.Have you performed compression check for different valve clearances?Fz25 2018 (ABS retrofitted)
