Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I've had the left crash guard top bolt break off too on my D200 !!! Happened just like that, no fall.. one morning on my way to work noticed a 'krrr krrr' noise like some rattling and immediately rushed to the svc.. after looking around for 10 min, found the bolt broken. replaced for free but used a different bolt (not the allen head type, but a regular hex head one). This happened around 1.5yrs after I bought the bike.Originally posted by Ajay Vishwanath View PostInteresting, I've met many other folks (including myself) who had the issue of the leg guard left side top bolt being broken off by regular use!!
Though I should admit that i have the habit of resting (stretching) my left leg on the crash guard intermittently for a few seconds on long rides

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
At least in the old ones, the screws that had the stock small visor, did it's job well, affixing a bigger windscreen without added support had it own set of problems. First, the screws would become loose often, due to the flexing of the visor and depending on the weight of the visor, high speed wind deflection means the visor flexes and slightly flutters at the sides at high speed, these minute flexes all directly load the mount screws which are tiny and flimsy and changes the alignment of those little screws and tightening them frequently was required.Originally posted by Ajay Vishwanath View PostOpen Q to all - do I need support from handlebars for the windshield? I picked up an AS200 shield going to fix it today. OR the strength of the number plate holder is good enough?
Now with an added support to the handlebar, the visor stays put, flutters very less if any and doesn't stress the direct mount points which are the soft screws at the front. Plus with reduced visor deflection, the windblast is significantly reduced as again, since it flutters less and a sturdy visor deflects wind more than a fluttering one.
Cheers!

The girl said, 'NO!'

Thanks man. I fixed it today. Yes. The visor flutters, causes buffeting. The "mechanic" used the flat metal that's bendable to mount the shield.. I'll add pics once I get hold of a PC. Went on a test and touched 160. No issues, just that it started to tank slap a little. Feels like the handling is gone a bit. But it was mostly stable. The problem - the visor is more straight than slant. I'll have to take it off & bend the "metal patti" more I guess.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostAt least in the old ones, the screws that had the stock small visor, did it's job well, affixing a bigger windscreen without added support had it own set of problems. Though not sure how ECU would get water logged unless there was some leakage through the petrol tank.

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Petrol tank doesn't "leak" water. There are holes around the fuel cap for water to escape from the drain pipe under the bike. That's so the water doesn't enter anywhere else. Tank or other places. Also, the '17 gen bikes have a tighter fuel cap that doesn't allow the petrol fumes to escape. If there's water in ECU and all, it's a serious quality issue & needs to be replaced immediately under warranty.Originally posted by razzer View PostOh no! Pls keep us updated. Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
You're probably right. Coming from RE, I'm yet to get over leaking petrol tanks. Am not much of a mechanical guy, but where exactly is the ECU on the bike?Originally posted by Ajay Vishwanath View PostPetrol tank doesn't "leak" water. Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
the previous gen RC & Dukes had the ECU on top of their tank attached to it.. not sure about the 17 gen, but I'm sure they wouldn't have deviated much from that design, but I may be wrong.. that's one question that I'm waiting for an answer since a long time..Originally posted by razzer View PostYou're probably right. This happened to my friend's bike too, when he turns the key ON the bike will start automatically without starter switch, he took it to the SVC where they ripped his biked naked and were still diagnosing the prob, today he got a call saying there is waterclog in the ECU and its now repaired. He claims that there was no heavy rain.

probably the water got in due to high pressure washing?? just saying...Originally posted by 44horses View PostThis happened to my friend's bike too, when he turns the key ON the bike will start automatically without starter switch, he took it to the SVC where they ripped his biked naked and were still diagnosing the prob, today he got a call saying there is waterclog in the ECU and its now repaired.
