I never had any complaints with them. I feel even m5w will be overkill for 390.
Front however routinely loses grip on hard braking. I can feel front abs kicking in.
H are the Chinese ones, cheaper and have almost the same life as W rated German ones. Yes the H has speed rating still more than what the Duke can go for. So, it's comparatively cheaper than W. If you wear out front quicker than normal, try the Apollo and or Michelin series. Both are radials, offer extended life when compared to Metz with good grip.

Make sure your air pressure is always what the manufacturer recommends. Too high, too low, you'll wear your tire faster.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Once we change the tyre profile, be it upsize/downsize, how does the tyre pressure metric change?
Do we still stick to manufacturer prescription? because theirs was specific to a type of tyre.

Good question RS. As a general rule, tires are always given a maximum and minimum pressure variables on the tire sidewall. Now, can I use the same PSI for the same rated tire from a different brand? Yes, course you can. As long as the tire's entire spec meets the OE spec, nothing to worry.

When upsizing or downsizing on a bigger rim, it's advised to keep the PSI two to three points higher.

        Cheers!

Try readjusting the slack at the tight spot of the chain, make sure the rear wheel is aligned perfectly with the front sprocket. Keep us posted on the progress.

Yep Thanks Mann, reslacking worked (hopefully ). I just did about 1000 kms in last 4 days and is looking good.

Also lately I am feeling a bit of tightness in the handlebar. Somewhere I feel the balance is not proper while riding. Could this be due to fork/fork oil issues? My bike is about 1.3 years old and done about 19k Kms.

            Thanks,
            Aswin

That's great, glad it worked out for you. Secondly, it can also be due to busted fork bearings. If your handlebar is grabby or is tight at a point, you have a busted coneset. This tightness can be felt better when the bike is lifted and handlebar rotated left and right.

Easy method is to put the bike in side stand, pull the vehicle towards you, let the front wheel lift, and try turning the bar left and right slowly, if you have a grabby or the handle bar biting during motion then you have to replace the bearings. Or you can get it checked with a local mechanic for free.

If you haven't replaced the fork oil in a long time, it's better to replace them along with fork bearings.

              Cheers!

                Hi all,
I have a 2017 duke 390. It has done 6000kms. But i feel that the jerky factor below 4500 rpm in 1st and 2 nd gear is quite bad.
May be for a reason I am comparing it to my ninja 250 throttle and power delivery which is smooth.

My question is can we change the mapping to smooth the things out? Please help.
                RIP Marco

The low end jitteriness that you feel is present with all Dukes. The old ones were even more temperamental . Mapping works wonders for the 390, especially piggyback ECUs. They help reduce the engine jitteriness, heat and improved throttle response.

                  Cheers!

So this problem cannot be solved at the service center, they cannot update the maps or make any changes, it has to be done outside using a powertronic or so?

Nopes, unfortunately. Most maps are fixed from factory and KTM doesn't have any maps as such as an update. This is why Powertronic, power commander and others gain an upper edge, not only for Duke, but also superbikes.

                      Cheers!

Will WP Apex Pro 6543 (front fork) and WP Apex Pro 6746 (rear shock) fit D390, 2019 model?

                        Link to the above products-
WP develops high-performance motorcycle suspension and components. With its focus on INNOVATION and PERFORMANCE, WP gives riders a dynamic edge to take their riding to their highest personal level of performance. Continued investment in new technologies and research also ensure both racers and ambitious leisure riders maintain an edge over the competition.

Now the above products fits RC390 per WP website and I am assuming that it should D390 too.

Does the powertronic remove the jerky nature of the duke? I'm considering other bikes just for this main reason and also the super hard suspensions. I test ride re650, himalayan and ninja 300 but nothing comes close to this d390 in terms of performance but changing the bike within 3yrs is simply not worth it..

Yes, the low end jitteriness is almost nil, plus the maps allow you to switch between available maps. Secondly, Powertronic also has QS for the D390 which is a plus, all this a quite expensive but really transforms the bike.

You can call those guys up or mail them, they're a helpful bunch.

Without a doubt, yes. It will void the engine warranty, as long as you're under warranty. But, AFAIK, the PECU hasn't caused any engine problem.
