The clutch switch can be easily replaced by removing couple of screws under your clutch lever housing. No, entire clutch need not be replaced. The original spare part costs somewhere around 230 Rs. If you are in warranty, the service centre should get it replaced free of cost.

As explained by other Bhpian. The clutch switch is a small switch that is below your clutch lever. It operates the starter motor when you press the clutch. If it's faulty, even if you press the clutch the starter motor won't work. But it will start perfectly fine in neutral. Replace the switch as mentioned by your SVC, it's hardly a 10 minute job.

            Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

            THE END

              1. No idea, never had a pillion rider.

              2. City=50-55, Highways = (<95kmph) 70-74, (>99kmph) 20.
I would also like to mention that i had a carb variant which I adjusted to a lowest RPM point, just barely above the point of engine stops beating. No gain without sacrifice. Here I sacrificed 'sudden throttle' to have the lowest RPM. Sudden throttle turns off the engine.

              3. You will not get a better deal for the money with anything in this segment than RTR 160 4V. Max speed = 113 and feels very stable and confident. Bulkier look & feel than Gixxer 250. Very comfortable in city & highways. No hot air on legs. Smooth engine & clutch feel. Unbeatable stock exhaust sound! Totally different from previous Appaches which were vibrating from everywhere and horrible parts quality. This new 4V models are just awesome and build well.

If you need a little better performer, go for RTR 200 4V. Because with a 160cc engine, after a while you might crave for more power which 160cc will never satisfy you.

To stick with your question, I would say, no other is equal to RTR 160 4V in this segment. Buy it and you will not regret your decision.
              Brother,
i think the RPM should not be lower than recommended , it may affect the lubrication, i have done the same thing to my avenger 220 and very soon crankshaft and related components become harsh, i was getting a mileage of 45-47kmpl for BS3 carb version.

                • Hey everyone,
I'm also a proud owner of TVS Apache RTR 160 4V (BS VI). I purchased it in Jun-2020 and have covered 8200kms on this machine. My ownership experience in all these 8000 kms was simply awesome. The bike is super smooth, super refined, super handling racy motorcycle. Maintenance to the most bit has been hassle free.

However, recently my bike did have a serious issue. It was in May 21 during lockdown, I was returning back home from work and I was downshifting from 70kmph in 5th and all of a sudden, a rumbling noise began to come from the engine. This sound was most prominent between 3000-4000rpm and beyond 5000rpm, it felt like there was nothing wrong. A characteristic of this rumbling noise was prominent vibration at the handle bar at 3000-4000rpm and excessive vibration at the left switchgear. At one point it felt like metal hitting metal while I was driving back home.

Since it was under warranty, I took it to the TVS service center and they spoke to their team and said that this is a rare freak incident and got to the conclusion that a bearing in the engine had to be changed. That didn't work, so they then realized that the head assembly needs to be changed. However, even after 35 days of waiting for the part to be fixed, the metal hitting sound is gone but the rumbling and the vibration is still present. Something that is different about it now is that the rumbling is most pronounced when the engine is cold and reduces once the engine gets hot but it never stops.

Apart from this I do not find any depreciating performance in the bike. Its still an absolute gem to drive.

Me and my dad had to convince the service center people that even after all this the sound was there by comparing it next to a new RTR 160 4v. Once the observed it, they said they will talk to R and D team and get back to us. The service people say that since performance of the bike is not really effected, it is safe to drive. I will test that in the coming days.
I'm looking forward to any suggestion or comments any owners can share on the same.

                  • Hello Brother,
My RTR 160 4V HP has only done 600km, there is a slight Tick Tick sound from engine head ( the same kind of loud sound came from my old 220 before valve hit to piston and got bend), everyone say 1604v does not make any sound at all. also a noticeable harshness from engine and vibration can be felt through foot pegs when it touches 4000 RPM. does its normal, i did not gone above 4000 RPM till now.

I had similar engine harshness and a bit of vibration for a few months even after regular servicing. But when I changed the service center and specifically told the service manager why I was here, he saw to it that my bike was serviced properly. After the service, I was amazed to notice the smoothness and literally felt the ride to be the same as the day I took delivery from showroom 2 years ago.
Service person didn't mention anything in particular, he just said that they did a full service.

                        • Hi All,

I want to change the front and rear tyres of my RTR160 4V. I don't want to go with the stock TVS tyres, can you recommend the best options available for this bike.

                          • Hi Team,
I stumbled up on this thread while I was looking to fix the bend on alloy after 160 2v smashed in pothole at low speed, double seater, 25 psi tyre pressure, for increase grip in single seater.
My bike RPM is usually above 7k in monsoon and most season, when riding solo.
Can anyone recommend to fix the slight bent on alloy or replace it. As it is just a problem, when bike speed is between 60-50 kmph while i am leaving handlebar to strap on helmet when solo. as it vibrate very less incase of pillion.
