Yes it is totally safe. Done 3 trips on the 160 4v, two of them being longer than 2000 kms. Motorcycle performed exceptionally well.

It was in Uttar Pradesh where we did most of our riding above 90kmph. Usually staying at 100-110 and the slowest would have been 80. 3 hours straight. Mileage I got was 27kmpl. Was riding with a pillion.

    Goodluck.

It's a modern motorcycle, I'd doubt it'd do anything less than run at redline speeds for less than 24 hours.

I've ridden my CT100B at 80~100kmph true speed for 12~18 hours a day for two weeks at a stretch around the country, nothing broke or leaked, so you can expect even better performance for your RTR.

      So ride without any hesitations.

      Cheers,
      A.P.

Hello folks, there's a high metallic keech-keech noise when the front brake is applied, and it's really bad!
This issue didn't exist before the 2nd service but got introduced immediately after that. ASC guy cleaned the brake and issue was gone.
This time when taking delivery after the 3rd service, the same problem has arisen.
Cleaning the brakes 2 times didn't help much. On my third visit, an ASC mechanic replaced the front brake lining (a small part costing around 280/-) and the issue was gone.
Now just after 3 days the metallic noise is back.
I don't know if it's just dust, improper brakepad contact while braking or something else.
Can anyone suggest what can I do about it?

I remember having this noise from front disc until my 4th service or so, temporarily disappearing after cleaning and coming back in couple of days, just like yours. But it seldom happens nowadays for the past 3-4K Kms or so and brake still has decent bite without any part changes. I am at 14K ODO now. So i guess yours will eventually disappear as well!

Ask them to check your valve clearance and timing chain slack.

                        Hi All
back to riding after 10 long years. Interesting conversations in this thread.

I had a few points which I wanted to discuss:

                        1. Bought BS6 version 160 4V in Jan. Ridden 500 kms and first service needs to be done. Can someone refer a good Authorized service center in Bangalore. Heard a lot of chatter on the net for bad service in south bangalore (Koramangala, HSR and Sarjapur Road)

                        2. The bike is performing well. The break in period is almost coming to an end however I have felt that while gear shits up or down the noise is considerable. I have never
done half clutch shifts always proper full clutch ones. Took the bike after 100 Kms to the dealership and they said that there is no concern. However they tightened the clutch extremely which i had to adjust and bring back a usable level. Don't understand why did they change the tightening of the clutch. Any thoughts?

                        3. Initially bringing bike to neutral was a task however this is way better now. Is this usually the case? My last bike(Bullet'08) even during the break in never had such a concern.

                        4. Any specific points to note during first service?

                        5. How frequently should I lube the chain? Is there a standard practice for this bike?

1). Sorry, I cannot suggest you a good service centre. Because I’m from TamilNadu.

2). That noise is not a big issue. your chain slackness needs to be adjusted. mostly mechanics put our bike in centre stand and tight the chain with 1 inch of play. They’ll cost you 30 or 50 bucks.

But I do differently, I used to loose the axle Nut, then tighten the chain using axle chain clamp in the swingarm. Then Put the bike in Side stand and I sit on my bike. Then I’ll look the chain by sitting on my bike. The chain should be snug like it should move little bit up and down say 5mm up and 5mm down. Then I’ll tight the axle. With this method I still have around 40% sprocket life and I have completed 18000 kms.

It’ll be difficult to do as a single person. This could be done easily if you have an extra buddy to help.

Loosen the axle nut and sit on your bike. Ask your buddy to adjust the chain clamp by ensuring 5mm up and as well as down play. Tight the axle nut.
                          That’s it.

Clutch Adjustment, tiny misalignment of chain can affect the slickness / smoothness of gear shifting which can be reduced by adjusting clutch. That could the reason for the clutch adjustment.

3). Adjusting chain will fix neutral issue.

4). Check whether they have filled 1.2L of engine oil. Sometimes they used to fill 1 Litre with confusion of RTR160.

They’ll adjust and lube your chain for sure. If not ask them to do, if they itemised in your bill.

They’ll clean your brakes and adjust cone set if needed.

5). Lubing chain differs by riding style and environment. High speed riding will make your lube flung off. But in city that’s not gonna happen frequently.

Dry and dust environment makes your chain dirty rapidly. As any oil or lube attracts dust.

Rain will make your lube to washed off.

When you are about to lube your chain please clean it with kerosene or diesel. Then lube your chain.

I have used Motul chain lube, TVS Chain lube, Rolon and 3M.

                          Among the above 4.

TVS gave the best sweet smooth gear shifts. But it leaves the chain lot quicker because it’s not sticky. It lasts about 400 kms with my riding and environment conditions. Rs 165.

Motul was good with smooth gear shifts. It lasts very well more than 500 kms. Rs 240

Rolon was just Okay. It was so sticky like glue. Felt difficult to clean off.
                          Purchased from amazon.

3M was good and last better than TVS. Purchased from flip kart.

I recommend either TVS lube or Motul.

                          Ride safe and wear helmet.

Got the first service done at Kubera TVS HSR Layout. Charged me 1015 Rs.

                            Bill suggests:
                            1. Consumable
                            2. Polish
                            3. 1.2 L synthetic oil
                            4. Lube

Don't know if this is the standard rate across all ASCs. Let me know.

But yes bike is way smoother wrt gear shifts. Chain has been tightened and able to shift back to neutral easily.

                            Thanks for the reply Tarun.

No Problem Bro. The bill amount is fair. I used to pay 860 without polish. So 1015 make sense.
