What is the cost of Motul FS? Does it come in 1.2 L bottle, or 1.5L? Or you buy two 1L bottles?Originally posted by Aswinlogi View PostOops! I'm worrying that i have crossed 4.5K Kms in motul FS will switch to a new one ASAP.sigpicOm Yamahaya Namaha...praise the lord!

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Motul FS prices around Rs. 700-800 per litre. And only 20w50 alone comes with a 1.5 L bottle. There are few other oils are available in 1.2 L bottle but I'm not sure as there are not many!Originally posted by rakeshchn View PostWhat is the cost of Motul FS? TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
A very small metal part has chipped off near a nut of the engine, the bike is only 3months old and completed first service, how is this possible ? Should I be worried and contact asc? It’s from the top nut of oil filter, I think a gift from asc.Last edited by vikramaditya6; 09-15-2019, 10:54 PM.

My bike has completed 3000 kms and its 4 months old now.
But I am facing a problem. A loud noise comes from the bike's engine side (or may be from engine itself) when I ride in 5th gear between 38-55 km/hr speed.
The noise mostly comes in 5th gear. Noise is as if some autorickshaw is going on highway at high speed.
Also, the gear shifting is hard and not smooth. specially 1st and 2nd gears.
Please help in resolving the issue. I wish I could make the bike super smooth.

Most probably, it's not engine but an broken silencer...
Relax, you are not the only one who faced this problem.

No. The noise is not from silencer for sure.Originally posted by jaypatel View PostMost probably, it's not engine but an broken silencer...
Relax, you are not the only one who faced this problem.
Replace the silencer in warranty
I got it replaced before 3 weeks only.
And silencer noise should have nothing to do with riding in 5th gear.

Check the connection between your engine and exhaust pipe. Ensure that both Allen head screws are in place and well tightened also you’ll be having a washer which won’t be visible.Originally posted by sumitbadaya View PostMy bike has completed 3000 kms and its 4 months old now.

Also check for any hole or crack in the exhaust pipe from the starting (engine end) to muffler joint (below the foot rest) you can find a small hole just right below foot rest and that’s normal.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Recently, I changed my rtr 160 4v engine oil. Till 5 th service , I meant ( from 0 km to 14 k KM ) it was running only on TVS Tru 4 fully synthetic oil. All the 5 free services carried out with oil replacement. Now I switched to Motul 7100 10w40. It’s around 750 bucks for a litre. I bought 2 bottles and replaced my oil. It’s been 100 kms since I changed. Bike is all smooth and I have good reviews from my friends regarding this oil. Mileage has been increased slightly but I run 50 kms In TVS oil and another 50 in Motul, so it’s a mixture. Yet to confirm mileage again.Originally posted by rakeshchn View PostWhat is the cost of Motul FS? Does it come in 1.2 L bottle, or 1.5L? Or you buy two 1L bottles?
I recommend Motul for all rtr riders, smoother engine and gear shifts are ❤️ sweet . Motul can withstand upto 4.5k km .

Check your Chain slackness and adjust it.Originally posted by sumitbadaya View PostMy bike has completed 3000 kms and its 4 months old now.

Clean the chain with kerosene or diesel.
Adjust the chain.
Then lubricate the chain

Guess you got the wrong person, my YT channel would at best get a video or two a year.Originally posted by sumitbadayaHi bro, am a regular viewer of your youtube channel.
Plus I take pride in staying oldschool and keeping a safe distance from such gay-shit.
New motorcycles take time to set in, my P220 took about 40k km's for the shifts to be silky smooth as I do not muscle my way when it comes to shifting even in spite of riding hard.I have apache 160 4v, 3 months old.. around 3100 kms ridden.
From past 1 month, my bike's engine (or something from engine side) is making loud noise...its like as if engine is having too much load on it while running. Specially when speed is between 38-52 kmph.
I am using motul 7100 10W40 engine oil and had it since 2500 kms ridden.
Also, gear shifts are not smooth. Specially first and second gear.
So give it time and change oil religiously, personally I'd not bother to spend so much money on an oil.
I simply use the cheapest Diesel oil I can get and change at 1.5~2k intervals, thats all.
Ignore or get a better helmet. And the rear disc brake is making squeaking noise when i apply brakes.
DIY is the way to go.Please help me in resolving these issues. Even if i go to service center, what am i supposed to ask them to check?
Plz help

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
If the noise is from silencer then it maybe a cause of improper fitting of your silencer. Contact ASC for this issue, I hope it should be fine.
And if you want the super smooth gear shifts just take care of the drive chain. *Maintain a dirt free chain and do lubing periodically.
*Don't drive in lower RPM'S Maintain a 4-5K RPM while shifting gears to get optimum performance and mileage.Originally posted by sumitbadaya View PostNo. The noise is not from silencer for sure.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Hi Everyone,
Recently I've changed the disc pads (front and rear) and did a general service. Everything is fine. Engine feels super smooth. But on the drive chain part I do feel something fishy. It gives me frustration and not a peaceful ride. In initial gears at lower RPMs that ""TAK TAK "" Noise comes!!! Even though I grease/ lube chain properly at specific time Intervals, I doubt the problem must be something else.
Chain sprocket and Drive chain seems good enough.
ODO : 19K
Is the chain tensioner/ chain guide maybe faulty? I do came over this video...
A complete chain sprocket maintenance was carried out on my motorcycle and in this video we will be changing the chain guide on a motorcycle: TVS Apache RTR ...
Thanks in advance!!!
Edit : Recent rains made the drive chain wet and I cleaned, tightened and lubed the chain. Now it's alright.
But I'm not damn sure still how much kms the stock Drive chain will last .
Let's see...Last edited by Aswinlogi; 10-01-2019, 04:34 PM.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Need some help from the owners:
1) Common issues faced by everyone
2) TVS parts and after sales quality (I hear it's not good, at all)
3) Do you trust your machine 100% when you go out, far from home, on some lonely deserted road? (Reliability of a TVS)
4) (rather the most important) Is it comfortable for tall riders, say 6 feet tall? (I hear it's cramped)

1) TVS brakes aren’t up to the mark. Their engine performs a lot, but the brakes are not match for that engine. I changed my brake fluid from dot 3 to dot 4. Now it’s fine.Originally posted by Noob350 View PostNeed some help from the owners:

2) TVS parts are in good quality. No issue with their parts. I used TVS Dot 4 fluid, TVS brake pads , TVS chain Lube, TVS Engine oil, TVS spark plug (manufactured by Bosch).
3) Yeah, I trust my mechanic. Sometimes I used to cross
Verify with other mechanic also. Most of the time I fix issues in my bike. Sometimes because of time constrain and lack of tools I approach mechanic.
4) I’m , 5 feet 8 inches. It’s quite comfortable for me.Last edited by TarunSundar; 10-21-2019, 12:20 AM.
